  • I always wondered as to the best speed of pellets out of my Fx Impact, so I got to testing them the last couple of weeks. Today I look at the JSB Hades 15,89gn, the JSB Jumbo Heavies in 18,13gn and then for a shoot out with the JSB Redesigned 25,39Gn and JSB KnockOut Slugs in 25,39gn. Astonishing short range accuracy and speed.

    U did your tests in a really simple way.. Easy to understand.... A few testers confused things up.. Especially if they using the fx.... No issues with your way...

    I dont do much paper punching but spend a ton of time vermin hunting. The hades anchor em even when not perfectly shot. JSB Heavies are very accurate out of my gun but not the best hunting pellet. I have had to reduce my hunting range to use Hades but found filling the head with wax really tightend them up. thanks for the vid.

    • @AimSmall

      Thank you Lucky Larry. I experienced the same with the Hades in my Daystate Pulsar running at 840fps, perfect hunting pellet and very accurate up to about 75m, the heavies are more stable at longer ranges but doesn't incur the same amount of damage as the Hades. Currently we are chasing longer distances and for this reason looking at something that can handle wind a bit better. I am experimenting with the slugs, but if it comes down to short range stopping power the Redesigned's are brilliant. (Unfortunately not the stopping power of the Hades, but a good all-rounder for wind and distance). Happy shooting.

    Great comparison video and personal experience tells me exactly the same the jumbo heavy is the most accurate to about 60m from there out to 80 it’s a tie and beyond that is where the slugs really take over though the Knockouts are very good all round in a standard barrel. The energy difference at longer ranges though is where slugs win every time as long as the fun shoots them

    Esch pellet has its ideal speed acording to its weight and shape.
    The dhape of the group you shoot and if they go left or right, tells you if you should increase or reduce speed.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but in your final target it looked like you put the wrong pellet with it's group? Also, your results are very inconclusive because you haven't harmonically tuned each pellet, but used the same reg pressure, valve stop and hammer spring for all the different projectiles.

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  Před 4 lety +1

      Well spotted indeed, the last section I accidentally had the wrong pellet next to the paper results. id10T error on my side, the naming and grouping is however correct. Shot them in the correct order but made an small error on the final cut. Thanks for highlighting this. With regards to harmonic tuning... The Hades and Heavies aren't 100% harmonically tuned, I don't like to adjust reg pressure, valve tuning and hammer spring in-between pellets, takes a massive amount of time to set each pellet up and fine tune. I wanted to illustrate the different speeds and the effect it has on accuracy, after testing the Hades (they were cracking out of the barrel at that speed and making a massive noise)I shot them at the lowest speed with my current gun setup. The same for the heavies. I didn't adjust the FX it for the slower speeds required for the Hades and Heavies as I will not use my gun to shoot these light babies, that might be an insult to the FX's talent, the Hades is build more for sub 30ft/lb guns, the same applies to the Heavies. On a side note, everybody has been raving about the adjust-ability of the FX... but nobody seems to honestly tell what it all entails... Take this pellet test as an example, in order to run the Hades at optimal speed and harmonics, it would take me the better side of an hour to get the perfect combination between hammer spring, reg pressure and valve, plus an additional 250 shots. I would have to adjust the power down to sub 30ft/lb from its current 48ft/lb. Although the adjust-ability is marvelous, it is more aimed at the technical person who has time and knowledge to tinker with an expensive gun. I am looking for a variety of pellets that works well at the current setup, the gun loves the Redesinged 26gn pellets and the 25,39gn KnockOut slugs as one can only use the power wheel to find the best speed combination without having to further adjust the valve, reg and hammer spring. in my opinion very few people are going to meddle with this trio once they find the gun's sweet spot.

    • @jonathansinger3818
      @jonathansinger3818 Před 4 lety

      @@AimSmall If you can adjust your gun for one particular pellet in an hour, you have me beat by about 2 hours. To say nothing of the number of pellets I'll use. I'm sure JSB makes way more money on pellets used for testing than on all other uses combined. It is definitely a pain to tune down to the gnats ass, but it is really cool when you put 10 shots through a 1/4" hole at 42yd in .22 cal.. Makes you not want to try the newest pellet or slug offered.

      @@jonathansinger3818 Hi Jonathan. My real name is Gert, thanks for the input. Yes, pellet testing can be alot of fun, I try to get something decent and then buy plenty to keep me stocked. Only recently moved to slugs, used the Redesign for pest control but was looking for something to negate the wind at 80yards. Hope the slugs will do it for me.

      Hi Chris, no there is still a little wiggle room with the hammer spring, I don't want to push it harder, would rather install a power plenum for that extra oomph. I am looking to get my hands on the H&N Slugs, don't have any to test currently.

    No need higher velocity for an air rifle, 800-850 is enough,

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  Před 4 lety +2

      You are 100% correct. most pellets are super accurate at this speed, but if you want to shoot slugs or shoot beyond 100m then the higher speeds are needed. I would say max 950fps, anything over this is overkill. Pellets don't like the high speed anyway.
