In other words, without careless leadership as a country youre at a major disadvantage to a country who has it and wont survive for long. Same for nukes, you cant survive without them

Yes. It’s a conditioning lever for people to inhibit their ability to discern fear from fact. It’s an illusion for a bigger game to extrapolate the middle class of individuality and being wholly adherent to any arm of government for their safety. A full endowment into government is the real motive here. It’s the democratic agenda, in which is lobbied and fundraised heavily by oligarchy corporations, to render the middle class completely helpless to be in control of their lives. Think about it. Even though lex says “it’s set up to where the humans involved can’t think”. Let’s be truthful. Every human with a conscience and an IQ over 100 knows the perils of a nuclear holocaust. Hiroshima and Nagosaki are still within a hundred years ago. We all know the danger of nuclear war. Look at the Cuban missile crises. Everyone that makes these devices knows full well that there’s no winner in nuclear war. It’s the end of everything. And let’s be truthful too, it’s not just our species that’s watching this, if you at all believe in David Grusch, there will be an intervention from inter dimensional beings. So let’s be Frank, this has nothing to do with the “what if” of nuclear war. This is propagandist nonsense to render us fearful sheep and fully endow our responsibilities to someone else doing everything for us.
That’s the truth. In my opinion.

"Roughly 80% of all residual radiation was emitted within 24 hours. Research has indicated that 24 hours after the bombing the quantity of residual radiation a person would receive at the hypocenter would be 1/1000th of the quantity received immediately following the explosion. A week later, it would be 1/1,000,000th."

This is why every effort has been made to prevent direct NATO Russia conventional conflict over the last nearly 80 years, and I'd add to that, France, keeping their ambitions conscious of that risk. We can't be pushovers, but we also shouldn't be stupid, and increase the risk by escalation that isn't necessary. I think, efforts to further reduce the global stockpiles should be continued so that the number of these weapons available are low enough that even in an exchange, there is a chance. Also, efforts to reach some kind of cease fire with Russia, are worth pursuing, even if Ukraine doesn't get every inch of territory back. If you defeat the Russian army, one possible outcome could be the use of nukes. Civilization is bigger than any of our feelings or conflicts, it's worth keeping. Why is it hard to speak up? Look into social psychology, how groups behave versus individuals, this is why it's so dangerous to let it get too close.

You should be asking your guests how we prevent Russia from starting a nuclear war. Every implication is that we should somehow prevent our government from responding to an attack. If guests have a suggestion to prevent Russia from launching an attack, other than deterrence by our capabilities, we should all know of that suggestion-no one has suggested another approach.

MAD has worked fkr 75 years. Nuclear countries have made pacts not to fire weapons until its 100% confirmed that another country fired nuclear weapons first. Like eyes on the ground confirmation. Why do they only have 6 mins? The US could launch nukes days later and it would still cause just as much destruction to the other country that fired first. It doesn't make sense.

Well, Putin did tell how to prevent the start of nuclear war according to Russian war doctrine. Yes, there is a level of distrust, and that is understandable, but so far it is look like a case - until there is no threat to the Russia's existence, the country will not use the nuclear weapons. So, if we take this as a fair statement, the answer is on the surface :)
For now, nuclear detterence works, so let's see how it will unfold. I have low hopes for politicians on both West and East, to be fair.

Strange that I hadn’t heard of this bizarre Public service announcement. Probably would be a good idea to see if Tulsi knows what she’s talking about here. But let’s assume that what she said was accurate. There’s a couple parts to it. Go inside and stay inside is correct. You really can improve your survival dramatically by doing that. Especially if the strike is a Hiroshima sized bomb as would be used in a terrorist attack or a single war head, strike as might be the case within an attack from North Korea. A lot of people think that it’s silly to even bother to prepare, but those people are often assuming a circa 1983 Cold War style all out nuclear exchange between Russia and the United States. in that scenario, the devastation with the severe, almost nothing you did would really matter very much. But that is the least likely type of nuclear war by far. It would probably be worthwhile for people to understand what nuclear weapons do, and what the effects are. If there were a nuclear detonation, especially if it were an isolated event, your decisions under immense pressurewould make a big difference when it comes to the likelihood of survival.

The issues are much deeper than simply having a person with courage to make the right decision. The much larger problem is that we have a corrupt, dysfunctional political system that will not allow any ,even semi-decent people that care more about their constituents than themselves and the donor class that controls them, to be elected to significant positions of power. With a population of more than 300 million and look at the selection of people that we must choose from? We are given the illusion of democracy, the real one left America a long time ago. Eisenhower warned the country long time ago...but that warning was in vain. The political elite is taking the country to a very, very dark place. Just look at Lindsey Graham - any country that has senators like this is in serious trouble. We are moving from one disaster to another - Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yugoslavia, Ukraine and now there is a strong chance we'll be thrown into a Middle East war with Iran. Israel pretty much controls our Senate so most likely we will do their bidding and the sh*t will hit, yet again, the proverbial fan.
And after all those disastrous foreign policy mistakes that cost our country dearly has there been any accountability?
So, unless something changes in how our system works rest assured we will be having the same issues and debates for a long, long time. And I would not hold my breath for anything to change. I think it is too late for that to happen or if it happens it will be of cataclysmic scale. I am afraid our country has a cancer in its body and it has metastasized, killing it slowly but surely.
And Lex, I like you, I really do - you are a decent human being with a genuine desire to help and serve people. But Zelensky is not a hero, He did not stay in Kiev because he was brave. And he did not make the bold, contrarian decision that is in interest of Ukraine. He stayed in Kiev because he knew the Russians wanted to negotiate and were not about to attack Kiev. You don't have to believe me - search for what the then Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett said at the time about the situation and how Zelensky sought assurances that Putin will not attack. Naftali Bennett made a genuine attempt at mediating at the time.
And in March 2022 it almost looked like war could be avoided. The two countries met in Istanbul and reached an agreement. Then Boris Johnson arrived and this is where Zelensky should have taken a stand and make a bold, contrarian decision, instead of succumbing to pressure from us. Ukraine would have kept its territorial integrity and major bloodshed would have been avoided. I am afraid, history will not look kindly at Zelensky - more than half a million people dead, god knows how many wounded, tens of millions refugees likely never to return, the country's infrastructure in ruins and its very existence now at stake. So hero is the last thing I would call Zelensky.

It's not a matter of courage. It's a matter of 6 minutes. If there are multiple reliable systems saying there are a large number of inbound missiles to the US (and potentially all the allies) then there isn't much of a choice to make. At least you cannot say that you would wear a massive first strike since that might actually provoke one.
A single inbound missile to a US city, yes there are options. And I'd strongly suggest there are playbooks for almost every scenario. Ditto a single nuke on an allied city.
playbooks in an automatic machine-like sequence because 6 minutes isn't enough time for a courageous leader to make a huge decision for all of the people he represents.
What you the US citizen want him (her) to do in those 6 minutes. decide not to strike back? has anyone done a survey. because I think most people would say strike back.
What is really important is what happens before all that. It was the US Star Wars, shoot down the missiles that forced Russian to go to hypersonic glide and cruise missiles.
Putin explained this in some detail. A missile intercept program would cost way more than Russian could afford. So, they went with intercept evasion rather than a missile intercept system.
Star wars was a US choice. So was Trump pulling out of the "Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty". You can only control what your country does. not what other do even if they were not complying. You cannot control Russian or China except to influence them. Is not complying to the "Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty" really going to make a difference in those 6 minutes. I think not.
