The imagery of the obey, die, buy, god is from a movie that came out in the 80’s called ‘They Live’. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time and relates directly to the message of the song.
For anyone that hasn’t watched the movie, it is very 80’s. That era of movies I love because I’m 42. The movie itself stands out because of the message. It is actually slightly comedic as well. But overall it’s become more relevant with time. It’s scary and great.
This movie is phenomenal.

I love SOAD's mashup of sounds. You get a solid Thrash Metal/Hardcore base, but then you hear elements of the traditional Armenian music they grew up with, along with some Hippie weirdness and some things that are just thrown in sarcastically. It always works too!
