- Had a fun first impression on Helldivers 2 new cross-platform compatibility upgrade. After the match, Mortar Sentry and I talked it out and are on the same page now. We'll do better next time.

Not surprised to see my samples being spent on nothing then. (Pre-Patched Superior Packing Methodology)
It works, you need the enemy you ping to be in the mortar’s range and you need to wait after it finished firing
@@s2wuolf508 if it works that’s awesome. It’s hard to tell in the video. As he pings enemies in range. Also the ping goes away rather fast. It be cool if it had a indication the mortar was firing on a pinged target.
People spending all their samples on this as the first upgrade... I'm speechless.

A new feature not working properly, let's see if it takes longer to fix than Spear's targeting. You had some great comebacks from that mess.
Honestly I would rather take a chance to manually set mortar target priority beforehand on ship, like 1=Heavy devastator, 2=Rocket devastator, 3=MG raider... I don't want to babysit mortar targeting while trying to shoot different enemies and waiting for mortar to get shooting. Or give me ability to target area on map with the map pointer? Could be fun for shelling a base/nest or holding a chokepoint.
That would be nice to have. A preset for how we want our mortars to already behave. Thanks for checking out for the video!
you have to actively maintain the POI or the mortar will track elsewhere. Fight, throw a strat, etc and the POI drops. Even so it lasts for a few seconds and drops.
You're literally piloting the rounds, so find a good spot for yourself and hammer the field.
Also, dont wait for the rounds to hit to pick a new target. When you hear the mortar chunka, chunka, chunka...select something else.
This is actually a pretty cool upgrade

I wish the marking thing would apply to the autocannon and or rocket sentry even though they sort of already target what they need to. Would be cool to mark a bile titan and have your rocket instantly turn and shoot
I do want this targeting feature (given that it works) to eventually apply to all sentries. The interactions with our stratagems would make the gameplay feel a lot more immersive. Thanks for checking out the video!
You know what would be nice, if the sentries had a switch you can flip to make them only fire on what you mark. Like a big red button on the back.

My favorite build with the bots for the mortar upgrade are the HMG and the normal mortar. I say this because since it is a little finicky pinging the targets and you have to ping the same target over and over again to keep it firing on the target you want and this is hard to do while moving around and firing a lot the HMG sentry allows you to do this with a decent amount of protection and firepower so you can literally just fire and ping. It’s great honestly.
I’ve been loving using the HMG, especially since peak physique got fixed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching the video!

I had the same results with this upgrade. 1st one I got from the update and the mortar just wasn't targeting what I pinged, or anything at all half the time. The targeting really should be noticeably better, not worse like it is.
I feel the next turret upgrade should be personal shield packs for each one so they can take a little more beating
Maybe there's a bug in the upgrade when you bring two mortar sentries? Try just taking the standard mortar and not the EMS one.

weve been maxed out on samples and levels for 1.5 months. i only play like 3 hours a day to boot
@@mikedicarlis6654maxed or not you’re still going to need pick up 1000 rare samples after buying the first upgrade to get them all because you’re capped at 250 😳
It’s like 20 - 40 hours normal gameplay…not including crashes, TKs at extraction, not extracting, losing samples in holes, etc
@bryansmith2859 The hours mentioned above, (3 hours a day?) I doubt it, cause you have to be totally successful and maybe you were lucky the first day but 5 days in a row?
I still struggle to get one more and I play more than 5 hours a day from the day Tier 5 ship upgrades launched.
I think everyone who plays the game can relate. It is not by any means a success every time you cross random players on missions.
If you don't have a good team in every mission from matchmaking everything you do for 40 minutes can turn to shit in the last seconds on extraction. Having said that if he clarify he had a team then I may believe
it xD. It's not my goal to be an ass here but it didn't feel accurate.
Of course there are people who about 1 and a half day unlocked everything but those people either have ready teams or have many good players they know playing the game.
If you have neither of those, it will take a week+ to achieve that with the randoms.
Again even if everything is perfect, so let me get this straight. 3 hours is about 3 big missions where you can extract about 40+ rares (with the bunker). So about 120 rare in these perfect hours...
Ps. If it was for Warbonds I would believe him cause you can abuse SC and Medals in the game.

I think it's better to call it "upgraded" mortars, since they didn't change anything about mortars without upgrades, at least as I know
Against bots I only take punisher plasma 3 Sentry cannon, rocket, machine gun.
And cluster bmb eagle. Best load out ever.
Machine gun recharges every 1min. Then rockets takes out heavies Devastators, hulks, tanks with few shots. And Cannon just scrap the hell out everything. I dont require secondary weapon at all. Always gets highest kills and if I really want a secondary I ask any random team mates to share theirs extra set.
Hide mortar sentries behind some cover and protect them, they don’t need line of sight
I just played a game vs the bots. Brought the mortars, not one shot was fired. Must of been a bug. :(
armor passive idea:
battle hardened: you can always stim. recover faster from flinch, ragdolls, and stuns.
I might actually play against the automatons I wasn't merely the rocket devastator's short-lived ping pong ball.
Bots are extremely frustrating when one decides it can see you and shoot you across the map
I think it's bugged. I actually think they could just automatically set the targeting to what the player is shooting/pointing.
However, it seems like it wouldn’t be optimal in this configuration because I like mortars to cover an angle different from me not try to clear what I’m already going to clear
Pings are better. If I'm already shooting the target, then my target would likely be dead before the mortar can even hit them. I also don't want to shoot my primary needlessly into something like a tank then wait around for the mortar to kill it.
Great build, i would try using the shield generator to have a safe area for your turrets to rain down heavy fire.
That thing doesn't stay up long enough to be viable enough to eat up a strat spot
@@Dominicmesh000316I think it works more for a support build team setting. It does come back quickly. But I would agree it needs some buffs to better stand enemy fire.

How are you such a high level yet are missing so many ship upgrade?
Most my leveling (when I would play like 10 games a day), was early on when there wasn't so many ship upgrades so I was stacking on levels with maxed out samples with nowhere to spend them. Now though, I'm trying to pick up as much as I can so I can unlock everything! Thanks for checking out the video!

Honestly don't even know if this is worth unlocking, even if it does work. I'd much rather have an upgrade that makes them do less damage to Helldivers bc I always be shootin my teams standard mortard sentries. (On improper mission types /placement) Anything that incentivizes The standard mortar is literally detrimental with randoms most of the time.

In my testing, it seems the range has been reduced, at least for pinging.

That was the last ship module I got out of the new ones. The new orbital and hangar were the 1st 2 I grounded for. The new hangar upgrade is the best for sure

Don't make me feel bad. But i mean like, the first thing you see is 10% faster reload on all support weapons! Followed by 10% faster reload on eagle recall, all 380mm having a bigger hit box (and the 120 I guess), and 5% cool down on Everything! Sure 5% isn't as much as 10%, however that's still noticeable. Every 20 seconds becomes 19. And it applies to EVERYTHING!
Im curious, Why did you pick the "haha, mortar see bad guy Mr. Helldaddy wants blown... up."

Now I’m wondering if the mortars can target the bunkers…
Unsure if it can, but if I read the damage stats correctly, I don’t believe the mortar (projectile or explosion) has the penetration for those bunkers. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing but will it damage the modules? Cuz destroying all the modules usually destroys a bunker.
Wish they didn’t take away the Spears ability to lock onto bunkers… one-shotting them from afar was fun.
They have a range dont they? Isnt it 75 meters or something, I know it's kinda short.

I read the upgrade and couldn't think of a use for that, especially since I ping elite/heavy enemies and the motor is a trash clearer.
I do believe its gonna clash a lot with some play styles. I always ping objectives and heavy targets for my teammates, so having a mortar might not be helpful with this upgrade.
i think motors can kill fabricators and holes but i dont know how effective the targeting is

I really dislike gameplay with this lens width. It pisses me off.

The 20 sec delay on targeting is appropriate for the effort the developers put into coding this dribble.

All the new ship upgrades are mid af. WAYYYYYY too expensive for what they all do. If I hadn't hacked samples I'd be upset lol😅
The Orbital upgrade makes Walking Barrage and 120mm barrage way more viable and consistent for missions.
