    The standard 324 with Tasmanian Blackwood B&S is, IMO, the most underrated guitar in Taylor’s line.

    It's cool and all that Taylor is using sustainable woods, but when it's marketed as "Urban Ash" that comes from trees that need to be disposed of... you would think it would be less expensive, but this guitar is still $3,000.

    I just picked up one of these and not only does it have the best tone of any guitar I've owned, it is by far the best looking. I wasn't able to compare with the older 324ce I used to love, but the tone is even richer and there is more volume. And the urban ash is beautiful. In addition to all of the builder's edition treatments that were mentioned in the video, this also has Gotoh tuners - as someone who has played and owned several nicer Taylor and Martin guitars, nothing compares to these tuners for smoothness and accuracy.

      @ Scott F, I am not into the muddy and woody sound of a Martin. Love the brightness of Taylors, but sometimes they are too bright. Hoping and thinking this Builders Edition falls somewhere in between. What do you think? Thanks for your feedback.

      @@nr4502 I tried typing in a reply, but it got lost. In the end, it is all about what you want out of a guitar - I play mostly classical stuff and I prefer the resonance of steel strings, but I dig a very dark tone with no jangly sound. I loved the tone of the old 324ce but it was too quiet for what I wanted - I got a couple of Martins, they did have more volume, and more bass response, but the unwound high B and E strings were still too bright for my taste. I remembered the old 324ce, and Joe at Empire told me the V-class plus the builder's edition tonewoods would likely give me the tone and volume I wanted. He was right!

      @Scott F, thank you for taking the time to retype and I so appreciate your feedback. I believe this is the guitar for me if it is bright enough. It’s gorgeous and I love the idea of using local trees.

    Taylor kindly lended this guitar for a 2020 NAMM showcase with my band Gran Sur. Sweet! 14 body sized Taylors tend to be just slightly boomy and recording them you’d have to roll off a bit of the low end (that’s why the 12’s Grand Concert size is perfect for that) but this one sounds as if it’s ready to fit in a mix. I’ve heard Andy Powers use this recurring theme on the Grand Pacific and other new guitars. They’re aiming at this, and its great!

    Agreed with others on the demo riff at the end of the demo. Doc Quinton, if you're looking at these, I know that tune just can't place it (oh oh, premature senility slippin' in?).

      Hi DRailroad - Hope you're doing well and staying healthy! I'm probably drawing on a tune I've heard somewhere, but here, I was just doodling - trying to think of what I would play for the closing credits of an old cowboy movie :)

    I wanted to like this guitar, but there's something missing...maybe overtones? I've heard other videos, and played older 324 that have sounded more full and rich to me.

    Is “urban Ashe” a scam wood? I guess Taylor can sell anything for thousands of dollars, I had a 3 year old high end 614 ce that had a bridge lifting. Taylor says it’s very normal for their bridges to lift, but if u spend 2-4K that’s pretty poor excuse, one day I may get another Taylor but for now I traded in the 3500$ 614 for an Eastman that was less than half that price. I also love larivee, just my .02 cents

    • @ericvoigt8590
      @ericvoigt8590 Před 4 lety

      On EVERY acoustic guitar the bridge will lift over time! On some earlier, on some later. The bridge is constantly under the tension of the strings and wood is an organic material so of course it will bow over time. Sooner or later you will need a neck reset with every guitar. Might be in 20 years, might be in 5 years... BUT on your eastman that neck reset is a huge effort and will cost you 500$ while is had taken twenty minutes to repair your Taylor due to their NT neck system...

    • @angelg8445
      @angelg8445 Před 4 lety

      @@ericvoigt8590 why has my Eastman/Larivee not lifted? Btw the 614ce was kept inside in the case mostly and was only 3 years old. Im sure this does happen on guitar bridges but it should NOT happen on a new guitar that cost upwards of 3k. If thats normal for Taylor I say no thanks.

    It sounds thin. A/B this one, at $3K, vs. an Eastman dread at half the price. I can guess which one I'd prefer. Of course, Quinton's playing is impeccable. But for this instrument, I am not a fan.
