At the back of the snake’s tunnel is a chest that requires a skeleton key.

There are four entrances to the volcano.
The eastern one is a straight run to the obelisk.

you can grow other plants with normal compost, but for lotus you need potent compost, so blood from pressing heads or carcasses or human flesh in the fluid press and raw ash put both in your compost heap to convert normal compost into potent type. i generally only use that to grow grey lotus, since you can harvest other types around the map pretty much any time in large amounts, but grey lotus you only get from drops it doesnt grow anywhere.
if you only have flowers and not enough seeds you can dry the flowers on the drying rack, 3 flowers gets 1 seed, 1 seed grows 5 flowers, so after a few it ramps up and up. altho it now drops alot more of the grey seeds and flowers than it used to.

and yes i would probably avoid the volcano untill you get a bit better set up, epic armor, and lvled up thralls, maybe even only 1 thrall with well trained perk, inside the well of skellos is a bit easier than some of the guys wandering the outer part, but still difficult. for a start either make the silent legion armor you learned in the black keep, or go try out the arena under the sinkhole and learn the dragon bone armor, also finish the blacksmith and armorsmith journeys to learn the perfected exiles armors, i generally use a combo of dragon bone chest and gloves, silent legion helm, and perfected heavy boots and tasset for all my thralls, and some combo probably more silent legion for myself, or all dragon bone for me and legion helm but swap the legion helm for the dragon scale helm when in cold or hot areas, you can get the dragon scale helm from the red mother dragon in un named city.

oh and the well of skellos dungeon is right where you were in the dragon mouth, and you can run right past all the fighters and jump down into the center light beam and you end up in the dungeon.
