Not only is "Payne Evolution" the best mod ever made for "Max Payne 2", it's one of the best mods ever made, period. And I've played "HDoom".

This takes Me back when Max Payne 2 had its first mods where You where gun-fuing and equilibrium mods where a hot thing. Good times
I installed all the cool MP2 mods that I could find back then. Good times.
It's a shame this mod didn't get any newer updates since I did test it on my channel recently.
Yes, there're some bugs around still like I noticed you can fall down from an upper platform like in Part 2, chapter 3 where you gotta move carefully between some beams outside the burning building with Max and you fall down without dying or Part 3, Chapter 2-3-4 where I just got fully damaged and enemies didn't kill me but even with that health they just moved around....
I also noticed this very weird bug where you just got a massive amount of ammo or when you switch up weapons you lose all your previous assault rifle ammo... or when you pick up another double handed weapon and you just get 2 stucked on the same slot... And more bugs around,
I hope it could keep getting updates at some point though because seeing increased difficulty with way less weapons and Max payne 3 face is just wonderful.

I installed The_Silver's mods almost a decade ago, when my PC was shitty and the only game that would run decently on it was Max Payne 2. I feel old.

Just got back from finishing story mode and all the DLCs. It's a buggy, glitchy, unbalanced mess that is equal parts bullshit and annoyingly unfair, with the ocassional 'hey that was kinda fun' moment here and there. The weapon system is a fucking disaster that was 100% never thoroughly tested. I'm pretty sure bullet time is glitched. The enemies bounce back and forth between being fucking broken enough to kill you in 0.0001 parsecs and milling around like complete fuckheads because their pathfinding is broken. Intermittent crashes. Bad performance. Player camera has a 3/5 chance to glitch out and you will lose control of your character forcing a reload.
Oh, and the extra episodes were all awful save for the last one taking place in the Aesir building. Pisspoor level design overall, cringy voice acting and sceneplay. Okay as a novelty mod, dogshit as a mainline game mod. Cannot recommend.

No. This mod is more something to replay the game with after playing Max Payne 3. Its gameplay and aesthetics are not vanilla. You want to experience the original game first because it's great. Play the mod after.
that weapon switching... yikes, should have ditched the weapon wheel idea if its going to look that terrible. i also really dont like max's character model. its a shame because i like some of the changes to visual effects (sparks, blood etc)

its more max payne, and its what i wanted
these modes and resident evil's merc mode are what's been missing from modern games. they underutilize their gameplay mechanics and add useless multipalyer modes which will be dead in a couple of months.

I had tons of fun playing Max Payne 2 using this amazing Payne Evolution. Good ol' days! 🥲 But now I am in the Third series of it and always enjoying it including Multiplayer modes there.
