As a Brazilian living in sao Paulo, I can say the dialogue is top notch, probably from Brazilians voice actors. Even tough some of the scenarios does matches what we have here, mostly had been deeply changed for the game, for having a better pace (there's no river in forests here in sao Paulo lol, not even a forest)

@@youn00ber Vanquish has good ideas, but CLEARLY DIDN'T have the time, or budget to iron things out. Where do I start? A dumb AF story...which is fine.. A missed opportunity, but fine. A flawed combat system that teases you with possibilities, but lacks levels designed to actually realise said combat. Melee is pretty much useless past early game...Especially on harder difficulties.
It instantly drains your energy, & leaves you open. A game with aggressive combat forces you to, & rewards you for taking cover, & regaining energy. No wall moves. Not even a fucking jump button. Sam does all the COOL SUIT STUFF....in cutscenes. Cigarettes are very situational, & useless most of the time. An ugly, useless HUD that clogs half of the screen. Half of the weapons are weak AF and lack any kick in the feedback dept.
Melee is gimped, & most of the the attacks are useless. useful skill is just dash cancelling, combined with strategic use of weapon pickups. It's still a solid shooter in the end, but you're just sliding around, taking cover & shooting at hyper speed. You don't get to really utilise the main weapon the game desperately advertises. The armor.

4:06 To get out of these situations, you have to press H to change the camera position, which then allows you to shoot the enemy that put you into Last Man Standing. However, the game doesn't explicitly tell you about this control and you'll only find out about it in the options menu.

The PC version of this game is totally broken, it is totally unplayable. Broken mouse and keyboard support during game play which barely functions, when using a controller the button to jump forward is also the same button which brings up Rock Star Games account dashboard, so every time you try to jump forward the Rock Star Games dashboard appears on the screen totally blocking your view of what's happening on the screen. I've heard some people say this is the weakest of the series based on the tone and atmosphere and how it not film noir inspired like the previous games since that's what defined Max Payne, plus there shouldn't have been any incentive for Max to go to Brazil in the first place, according to my knowledge.

It makes sense for him to go it works with his overall arc. Think about it he is stuck in the past and knows he should move on but he can’t he’s a broken man who thinks little of himself and only sees how much of a fuck up he is and has become. He’s constantly fucked up on booze or pills so he doesn’t have to face his emotions but you can see in the opening cutscene that even while fucked up he’s trying to break free from it all. Brazil is a possible new start for a man who had no clue what he’s doing but knows what his inevitable destination should be, he just doesn’t entirely want it. That’s why the last level ending are so perfect. Max doesn’t want to die like always that’s why he keeps fighting like always he just doesn’t care he knows what needs to be done this time and what it’s all for. There should never be a Max Payne 4 because it isn’t just the end of the game, Max finally got his ending too

I loved this experience where the character I am playing (Max) is going through an action-packed story that has a movie tailored to my experience within the game. While a role-playing element(s) added to the game would have been icing on this cake, this is worth a game-like-a-movie play through at least once.

I LOVE your channel mate, but you're FACTUALLY wrong about MP3 not being Noir. It's a common ignorant mistake. MP has NEVER been hard/trad noir. It'd have to be black/white and rigidly traditional, to even fit such an old school trope. Neo-noir isn't JUST over bearing cities, slick streets and "speak easys". The range of NN is very wide, and some of the best work in the genre isn't just set in majority daytime, and exotic locations, but are VERY colourful as well. Heat, Angel Heart, Chinatown, Casino, Wild at Heart etc. In fact, MP3 is heavily influenced by Tony Scott & M.Mann's work. It's very neo-noir, and all its tropes are very well, within the genre. Those that stamp their feet about MP3 not being Neo-noir, have no idea what they're talking about. Great review as always.

The story didnt bother me as much as others. Like I get it, it's different, many of the things done are out of character for Max etc but after MP2 where else could they've taken the story?
The theme of MP3 is of Max finally getting over what happened in the past. The haircut, the change of location, the brighter atmosphere, especially SPOILERS the choice to kill the guy at the runway and the ending are all tied to this theme. Honestly, seeing Max go off onna sunny day with a smile for once was a really satisfying ending for me the last time I played through the trilogy in one go.
That being said I do wish the characters were likeable. They go through some tough moments but you never care about them. Pasos and the detective towards the end are the only likeable characters other than Max in the whole game.
But we cant forget the presentation and gameplay are top notch just like the first two games. Max Payne is one of the only series with nothing but quality in every single entry. One of the best series of all time if you ask me.

Really, the the only major negatives are 1) unskippable cutscenes, and 2) bullet time that doesn't refill over time. I know fans complain about the Brazilian setting too, but that's what makes this sequel so fresh. Instead of getting the same rehashed plot, we see Max growing into a human being who finally achieves peace by the end. I'd love more Max, but Max earned such a satisfying end to his story that any change would feel like a slap to the face at this point.

@@tomstonemale | It depends on whether one considers Mona's survival to be canon or not. Normally she dies, which is not what poor Max deserved. In his third game, he finally prevented "the death of a woman" and walked into the sunset, which he could never do in prior titles.

@@vdayuclaThere's nothing to prevent, dude (Mona dying is canon, the other one is a secret ending), that's not the point of the story or Max's story arc. Mona deserved to die for Max to get over his wife's death.

@@tomstonemale | That is a fair interpretation. Do you think most fans prefer that Max's story had ended with the second game, instead of continuing into San Paolo? I suspect I'm the only old-school fan who still likes Max's third outing.
