Developed by Double Helix Games, Iron Galaxy, and Rare and published by Microsoft Studios, Killer Instinct (2013) was released for Xbox One in 2013 and on Steam in 2017. To put it simply, Killer Instinct is easily the best game in the series and almost everything about it is awesome.

Still the best FG announcer in any FG series. I have quoted him since the OG release back in the day.
I can't explain how much I adore this game. They did an amazing job with the character design, gameplay and soundtrack. The only game I've taken seriously in my life to play ranked and try to excel at and I still had an amazing time. A must play.
Best underrated fighting game with the most underrated mechanic in making Music by Combo Breakers.
This might be the only next gen fighting game I played and unlocked 100%
Granted this received multiple graphical revisions over the years; the fact it still looks this good today as a launch title from 2013, just shows what a masterpiece it is.
Good review. This was the first game I played on the Xbox one and introduced me to the next generation. Spent so much time on it and come back to it every now and then still. Hopefully gets a sequel on the series X.
KI and Tekken 7 are definitely my favorite fighting games of the past 10-15 years. They have the right amount of accessibility and playability that I really appreciate in my older years. 🖖
The original soundtrack for the first game is one of the best game ost by far imo.
Extremely underrated as well.

That pay to get the characters is NOT fair at all! No one wants to spend a bunch of money on a few characters cause that money adds up FAST.

Finally you did this review, one of the best fighting games on steam!
Also on a side note, I don't know why you started to have problems with the shadow lords mode on steam, it worked just fine for me, to this day, I still access it pretty well with no errors or server problems.
My only gripe with the game is that the shadow opponents use the same, same skin when you fight them, it would be cool if you can choose alternate colors and skins for your Shadow opponent for some variety.
Amazing game. Every character is so unique and fun, amazing mechanics. Its done so right: its easy to pick up, with out dumbing it down and making it so easy like 1 button supers, but very difficult to master.
Its a shame this game had limited budget. I hope the sequel gets a bigger budget so it more quality of life features like better training mode, better online mode, and a better story.
This is the best fighting game of this generation, followed by tekken 7
I liked the og killer instinct because my cousin was a fan of fighting games. It was the holly Trinity of for games: Street fighter, mortal Kombat and killer instinct.

This was one of the main reasons I bought an Xbox one this and Titanfall 1 when it came out I love this game til this day best soundtrack and announcer of all time amazing unique characters super fun
I really love the backstories of these characters.
I had that same problem on the Steam version but after searching for a long time i found a fix that restores all the online functions...but yah this game is still a masterpiece 10 years later and one of the greatest fighting games ever made...i still play it with friends often.

Great game,shame it doesn't look like it will be getting a sequel.
Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but I actually think the first game looked better. Obviously more aged, but there wasn't as much flashy shit and particles flying around the screen making it difficult to make out what the hell's going on.

I think it would make money with some sort of Switch port too, KI on Snes did sell well.
Personally I would list this game in the top ten best fighting games ever created. Who am I kidding, in my book it is the best fighting game ever created!

I recall the pre reveal foe the upcoming PS4 showed a tech demo with Patrick Stewart playing a wizard and in the background screens KI played. I was so stoked until they decided to be XBOX exclusive
