  • How to Find Windows Media Player in Windows 10 [Tutorial]
Windows Media Player not only allows you to store and view music, pictures, or video files but sync them to a portable device for enjoying on the go. In addition to this, you can share the content with devices around your home all from one place. However, many of us fail to remember this name today. The player is not easily visible. Has Microsoft removed Windows Media Player? Certainly not! Windows Media Player is alive and well in Windows 10. Here’s how you can find Windows Media Player in Windows 10 Pro as well as Home quickly.
If you’re a fan of WMP, you’ll be happy to learn it’s still in Windows 10. Here’s how to find it and set it as your default app for your music and videos.
When it comes to enjoying different forms of digital media on Windows 10, Microsoft includes Groove Music, Movies & TV, and its Photos apps. These are elegant apps that work well, but if you’ve recently upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10, you might be more comfortable using Windows Media Player (WMP) instead.
Windows Media Player 12 (WMP) is included in Windows 10 by default. Windows Media Player allows you to play audio and video files on your local machine and on the Internet. You can also organize your digital media collection, sync digital media files to a portable device, shop online for digital media content, and more with Windows Media Player.
Windows Media Player is not the default app by default in Windows 10 though. The Groove Music app is the default music player. The Movies & TV app is the default video player. The Photos app is the the default photo viewer.
If you like, you can turn on or off the Windows Media Player feature to no longer have it available for all users on the PC. Turning off Windows Media Player will not uninstall it, or save any hard drive space.
If you like, you can install or uninstall the Windows Media Player feature to no longer have it available for all users on the PC. Uninstalling Windows Media Player will have it no longer available to turn on or off, and will free up around 57.4 MB of space on the Windows drive.
This tutorial will show you how to either turn on/off or install or uninstall Windows Media Player for all users in Windows 10.
You must be signed in as an administrator to either turn on/off or install or uninstall Windows Media Player.
If you’re a fan of WMP, you’ll be happy to learn that it’s still in Windows 10. Here’s a look at how to find it and set it as the default app for your digital media.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung).

I thought Media Player was a dead issue? As far as Windows goes is it as good as things get with the exception of editing vids? I rarely use it or the others mentioned but would be nice to know for possible video editing(basic). Thanks. Just cheeked and Groove is default for music, so Media Player is a dual product I guess. Will change.

You don't have to change based on tutorials I make. I honestly like Media Player, despite it being a legacy product. I prefer it over Groove Music or the alternatives.

Update- ok, after an hour or so MS Win10 "Found" my missing Windows Media Player app, so, thanks much! You did good... :)

Seems good Bro, only that none of your (otherwise good) suggestion work for me. MS did a great job in concealing this Windows Media Player app. Your first step of checking the box next to Windows Media Player results in a search bar that is looking for this app for 1 hour (I quitted), then the 2nd step of default apps showing only Groove music, and upon clicking on it nothing happens- it still shows only Groove music ... (BTW, I checked that Windows Media Player is already installed in my apps)

THANK YOU. I upgraded to Windows 10 in 2019 and spent three years fighting with Groove and Winamp, just not ever being happy with them. I'm pissed at the computer guy who straight up told me that there was no Media Player for Windows 10. Turns out that I could have had it all this time.
