  • In this video we explain how to care for your Serissa Bonsai tree, also known as the Snow rose Bonsai. Watering, pruning, fertilizing - all these topics are discussed. Keeping a Serissa Bonsai alive is not a difficult task, but there are a few things you should be aware of. For more information, also check:
    www.bonsaiempi...
    Bonsai trees are planted in small pots with minimal space for water and nutrient reserves. That means you need to water and fertilize your tree regularly. Make sure your Bonsai gets plenty of light, water, and fertilize when needed and your tree is sure to thrive!
    If you are not entirely sure about your tree species, you can use this guide to ID your Bonsai:

    If you want to learn more about Bonsai, consider enrolling in one of our Online Bonsai Courses. For the curriculums and free lectures, go to:

    This video was filmed in the Japanese garden of Clingendael. We also like to thank Deshima Bonsai.

    Wow mine has been in our outside bathroom and it only gets direct sun for an hour max in summer 🤣
    I'm scared to move it now tho, since u mentioned the shock factor.
    Cheers for the vid mate 👍

      It would like some more sun - perhaps place it somewhere with a bit of shade around lunchtime for example so it can get used to more sun for a few weeks.

    If you keep your trees closer to the tea house you won’t have to keep carrying them back and forth over that bridge at the beginning 😆

    Hi, I bought a sérissa about 22-25 years 2 month ago, there's many new branches that grow on the base's roots, I already cut many to start new bonsai, but there's always new ones growing, do I have to cut them all and keep the bases's roots clean ? thanks...

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Před 4 měsíci

      Well, you cut them if you dont want branches from that point - it is an aesthetic consideration so the choice is yours :)

    My serissa came with multiple trunks, like a bush. I would prefer a single trunk but I love the tree so will live with it. Some of the trunks cross and if it were a big tree I would cut those trunks out. Do I dare do that with this?

    Very informative vid! I got a sarissa bonsai just last week and grew even more interested in the hobby. Although unlike yours, i put mine indoors. Watering doesnt seem to be a problem but any tips on how often does the Sarissa needs sunlighting? Cuz i heard its sensitive to hot temperature and strong wind.

    • @rein2576
      @rein2576 Před rokem

      Note: i live in a trop country with temp avg at 34 cel at noon. My sarissa is a little smaller than yours and placed indoors for house interior decor.

    • @bonsaiempire

      Trees need LOTS of light. Perhaps not too much direct sunlight around midday, but place it at a window.

    • @annmargulis555
      @annmargulis555 Před 10 měsíci

      A tip - Bonsais don't like being indoors. It depends on the species as to whether to put it in the shade, sun or filtered light. Just Google it. As to watering, you need to give it a good watering every day making sure the water comes out of the bottom of the pot. I hope this helps.

    Hi bonsai Empire
    can you help with the care app, the Sarissa (snow rose) is not listed
    and I'm looking for why my leaves occasionally have a brown spot on the leaves?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Před 6 měsíci

      I'm pretty sure the Serissa is listed - just search for Serissa. Otherwise you can reply to any of the emails send from the app, we'll help you of course! If anyone reading this is interested, check out: www.bonsaicare.app

    Hello there! Pls help! Drastic temperature drops may have been the cause as I watered daily I dont know fully why, but my Serissa Snow Rose now has almost all leaves dried out. As I cut dead branches I know inside they are still green and alive. Pls tell me how I can save it? Kindest Regards from Vienna

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Před rokem +3

      'I watered daily' - is not right. Please watch this video and check the watering part - you water when needed, not on a schedule. If the inside is alive, likely your tree will grow new leaves soon. Proper watering and lots of light.

    hi sir does it tolerate direct sun and rainy climates like india? or should we protect it from rain etc

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Well it likes humidity but you should pick a good substrate so excess water can drain away from the pot.

    • @annmargulis555
      @annmargulis555 Před 10 měsíci

      Regarding the position of the Bonsai, it depends on the species whether to put it in sunlight, shade or filtered light. Google to find the information. Don't protect it from the rain unless, for example, it is a typhoon or the rain is too heavy. I hope this helps you to grow a beautiful Bonsai.
