  • This is a review and test ride of the all new HJC RPHA 71. However, it's not my helmet, so I welcome a special guest reviewer to the channel to tell us about what it's like to ride in.

    Great video sir. Also share the exact same experience with my intercom.. In fact one of the reasons I watched your video was to see where do people stick it so I can also give it a try. Bought this helmet a few days ago and its been great so far its super confortable and quiet but the intercom thing ruins the "perfectness" of it
    Thanks for the video!

      Just save 120dollars and get the dedicated entry level Hjc smart 11b Bluetooth. I've got it and it's perfect not to mention its sleek looks.

    Intercoms should be universal, so you could use them in every helmet. Nice review! Thanks!

    Great review and I agree completely about the comm system. So frustrating.

    Thank you for your review, it really helped with my decision.
    I really like the look of this helmet and the fact that it doesn't have a center lock on the visor.
    However i don't like the intercom mount and the fact that it's actually a bit louder than the predecessor (from the Db measurements of another channel).
    So i'm going with the rpha70.

    • @TimsMotorcycleAdventures
      @TimsMotorcycleAdventures  Před rokem +2

      Don't forget that the Rpha 70 doesn't have the new safety standards. Also, I have the Rpha 90s and the sheild is not nearly as good as the Rpha 71. I really don't think a couple DBs will be noticeable, but the Rpha 70 might have good sales now. Good luck with your search.

    panel is on both sides because HJC comm system goes to both sides which (I guess) makes it slimmer.
    As for other comms... I wouldn't be surprised to see aftermarket plastic adapters for helmets like those. Adapter would go into slot on one side and Cardos would attach to it on yhe other side. It seems like a realtively sinole thing to produce (or 3d print)

    • @Bikes_and_Hacks
      @Bikes_and_Hacks Před 11 měsíci

      I'm quite surprised that there aren't any parts like that for sale, especially for shoei gt-air 2 and neotec 2!
      One of the reasons I didn't buy (yet) shoei. I want to be able to use a Cardo unit without major DIY, cause I'm pretty sure I'll ruin the helmet before achieve the task 😅

    • @MirkoVukusic

      @@Bikes_and_Hacks , maybe some 3d design student would draw an adapter, then it's easy to pay for single item 3d printed, or even more and then resell it. Shouldn't cost much.

  • @teodor103

    regarding the comms units:
    1) the additional pannel on the other side is for the other control unit for the 50B comms systems which comes with SENA's mesh.
    2) You can buy adapters that click in to the slot on the left side you then attach your cardo too. This makes for a seamless design which I really like, especially with a packtalk slim (the slim doesnt fit rpha 71 sadly without modifying it)

    • @TimsMotorcycleAdventures
      @TimsMotorcycleAdventures  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks. Do you have a link for that adapter plate?

    • @teodor103
      @teodor103 Před 3 měsíci

      @@TimsMotorcycleAdventures Idk why but my comment was not added, I'll try again.
      I have found such plates on a phillipinian website, these are 3d printed. I might have jumped the gun too soon with stating "you can buy" them. I guess that since rpha 71 is quite new the product is not in demand yet. Cardo makes dedicated plates for shoei gt-air 2 and nxr 2 helmets, some ppl are making those for Logan helmets etc. I think that it will take some time before there will be ones available for RPHA71
      However, if you have a friend with 3d printer or access to an university one this might solve the problem for you. Although I know how it sounds until the adapter plates will start being widely available thats all I can think of for now.
      I am also considering purchasing this helmet since it fits my head the best. Since I dont have friends ( :( ) I was thinking about going with sena dedicated comms to listen to music and take phonecalls. Do you have any experience with this?

    • @TimsMotorcycleAdventures
      @TimsMotorcycleAdventures  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@teodor103 I don't know about the Sena, but we use the Cardo system and it works great. We just stuck it on the side and it works fine. The problem for me is if you have 2 helmets the integrated system doesn't work. Also, if you get rid of that helmet and buy a new one, you need a new come system. So the Cardo works well for us.

    Because the HJC 21B intercom has left side controller only, but the 50B has both side...

    Nice review! I have same onr but find the opening for slide lever for drop down visor at anything 45km/higher it makes a lot of noise, the wind gets sucked up and turbulence is so loud...u never experienced this? Thanks again for a great review!

      Interesting, to me the RPHA 71 is much higher quality than my RPHA 90s Carbon (which has been a huge disappointment). The shield in particular. What did you like better on the 70?
