This is Great. I've always used the map builder in Strava but it never gives turn by turn directions.. with this small extra step I can now get turn by turn directions.. thanks bro
It’s a game changer. I use to be so frustrated not knowing where to turn and having to turn around after realizing I missed the turn. Glad it helped you!

Thanks for this. One way I like to discover new mtb rides is to search in strava groups/club activity. Here I can see rides and save routes. It has been frustrating trying to follow not knowing the direction they should be traveled especially when the route overlaps itself. Question: when ride GPS creates its cues, is it using the original route’s turns in the order it was taken, or just using its own logic? Hope that makes sense. Thanks again!

Hi John. Thanks for making this video! The weather is starting to turn where I live and I just made a bunch of routes using the method you described in this video. Quick question - how accurate due find the "auto-trace" feature? Do you feel the need to review each cue on the route, or do you get reliable turn-by-turn directions without reviewing the auto-traced cues?
It’s pretty accurate in the areas that i live. Sometimes it may add a turn because the road is curved, but for the most part, its very simple to follow.

But I created a route (running) on the strava desktop app (browser) and saved that route. Head over to my mobile, select explore and then the route I just created. I didn't go for a running yet, but I believe it does the turn-by-turn also, without the epoxrting and importing via GPX.

So as far as turn by turn it doesn’t give you upcoming turns like “300 ft make a right on 3rd st.” It will give you a map view of the turn. Which is more imperative in a bike because you are going faster and I would routinely over run turns especially if you are in a city with a bunch of tight streets and have to keep turning around. I would love to know how your experience goes on your run. Thanks for commenting and watching.

I just bumped into an app called "RunGo", it seems this will do the turn-by-turn guidance :)

@@wimrotor thanks for reporting back. Rungo seems good. You may be able to use either Apple Maps or google maps as they have “walking” options. I’ve never tried it personally but seems like it should work based on principles.

Yes to be able to get suggested routes from Strava and to get the turn by turn cues from Ride with GPS you do need the paid subscriptions.
The subscriptions are relatively inexpensive and definitely worth it. Also Strava has a beta route editing program and RWGPS has a similar feature as Strava where you can select routes previously uploaded by other users. So in the near future you might not need both, if Strava provides turn by turn they will effectively make RWGPS obsolete.
