I don't think you're wrong at all in your interpretation that Kaido's vision hints at Luffy eventually becoming the GOAT. But I think it's pretty clear that he only showed people that he personally has clashed with and knows firsthand how strong they are. Also was said in the context of who's to become pirate king, so he's only comparing Luffy to other "pirate king caliber" people, AKA pirates. Not marines, not revolutionaries, and not greats from very distant pasts. The power Luffy demonstrated that allows him to fight with Kaido was also demonstrated by Sabo before he got his devil fruit. I won't say Dragon is the strongest in the verse, but I think we can safely say he's a tier above Sabo right now. So going down that train of thought, Dragon should be able to fight with Kaido much more effectively than Luffy right now.

No one should complain about it. I don't really care about most of the other fights but obviously oda has to rotate between fights, he can't just show one fight. Especially as the side fights have to finish before the main fight
Its a war arc, OBVIOUSLY Oda will rotate the fights in the nexts chapters, just like Marineford arc was, if people expected full fights in this arc in the manga, you are reading a wrong arc then, if you really read One Piece, you should've know what you expected from Wano, since its a "similar" arc like Marineford.
for frick sake, there's even a Oda statement where he says "Wano will make Marineford look like nothing", if Oda is comparing specifically those arcs, of course its because how much he sees those arc as similar in therms of base storytelling.

All Shanks being in Kaido's top 5 confirms to me is that Shanks literally did just come from fighting with Kaido and that he's so strong in comparison that's the only reason blood lusted Marines and Pirates stopped fighting to listen to what he had to say.
A Yonko can't defeat a Yonko in 1 day... So it can't be that Shanks whooped Kaido's ass and had zero injuries and had even time to go kick more ass in Marineford... The Yonko would be so unbalanced if Shanks was that strong...
They probably had a mini fight but for some reason they stopped....
Or maybe Kaido went alone so it was Shanks' crew 10 vs 1 , that makes sense if no one got injured and ended the fight relatively quickly...
@@jeromebranchetti6002 A defeat doesn't have to be an utter defeat. A clash if you'd like to call it that be probably a better word. Keep in mind Kaido has been defeated and captured by Yanko before. So all it means is that Shanks got the better of Kaido and had arrived at Marineford unscathed which is what happened.

Do you think it’s possible that gold Rodger had a devil fruit or perhaps the gum gum fruit ? The reason I ask is because I think it’s possible that shanks was holding onto the devil fruit as a memento of Rodger like the straw hat he had , and being on the the same island where ace was hidden by garp perhaps wasn’t random . Like Marco visiting white beards home city is it possible that shanks was doing the same ? Or maybe shanks was there to give ace the gum gum fruit originally but bumped into luffy ... ? Anyone have any thoughts of this

you got that wrong like 90% of the community. In Kaido's introduction it is said that people within the one piece universe say always bet on Kaido. Its not the narrator himself saying it. the narrator is basically quoting what people within the one piece universe say.
I think the fan translation did it better on that panel because Kaido says "Are you implying you're as great as they are" which would make sense since Kaido wanted to test Luffy out and see what the worst generation can do instead of just obliterating them from the jump with Big Mom. It also implies Luffy is just faking it till he makes it at this point which is true since Luffy used his regular G4 without advanced armarment haki to attack Kaido with Law and Kidd which could mean Luffy can't use it back to back in quick succession or it uses up to much haki to maintain an advanced armarment haki G4 form with it.

Roger,Whitebeard are a given,he talked about those two a couple of times in this arc. Oden is there in context to the arc, and rocks is there probably for the upcoming rocls flashback.
As to shanks, either it's in context to shanks stopping him in marineford, or oda hyping him up.
Either way, I don't really see it as a powerScaling tool.

What if Shanks had the potential to be as strong as Roger with both arms but he wagered that potential on the next generation?
What his top five proves to me, there aren’t any marines as strong as the top 5 pirates. Or if there are it has to be Imu, there is no way Kaido doesn’t know the scope of the admirals. Kaido is saying essentially any of those top 5 can 1v1 any marine and win.

I think it's dangerous to assume that what Kaido saw in Luffy doesn't necessarily = Kaido's top 5, just that it's Kaido's top 5 most respected in the verse. However I don't see anything wrong with this being considered a temporary top 5 until further information comes forward about people like Garp, Mihawk, Sengoku, etc...

So Kaido is younger than Big Mom right? Him and Oden fought roughly 20 years ago. Oden was 39 years old when he died. So let's say they were about the same age when they fought. Everyone says Kaido is stronger now than he was 20 years ago so why couldn't Oden be too? For example the Admirals are all in their 50's and they are all in their primes. If it was a 1v1 Luffy'd get trashed even harder

It is possible that Kaido was just thinking about those at the top of the world of Pirates, and that could be the reason there wasn't the image of any marines there. I think we just need to take a step back, relax, and see where the story takes us before making any calls on who is stronger than who. After all we havn't even seen anything of what Ma D. Monk can really do.

I believe Luffy’s growth is due to his devil fruit. Much like rubber, he bounces back. He becomes more & more resilient & it’s sort of like having saga in blood

I don't think this is a powerscaling thing. I think it's just Kaido seeing Luffy as a potential contender for legendary pirate status, ie. Roger, Whitebeard, etc. So yeah, I think it's safe to say that Kaido isn't powerscaling.
Edit: Capping KOL, Oden was at his Prime, even if he lived, he wouldn't beat out Roger, WB, or Rocks. I don't think that Shanks is stronger/as strong as Roger, only by a hair, but I do think that Luffy will be.

Pretty much all the supernova's a rookie pirates with the fastest growth among any pirate. Luffy sits at the top, obviously, with the fastest growth. I wouldn't be surprised if a select few of supernova's are gonna be the next generation of yonko. You got Luffy who sits at the top as the King of the pirates, You got Kid, Law, maybe Zoro(assuming he cares about that), and whatever other supernova is growing.
Primebeard and Roger over Kaido is obvious. But I don’t know if the rest are.
Rocks 100% for sure is or was.
Shanks I believe is the strongest individual character in the series.

It’s actually crazy if you think about it. 3 of the people in Kaido’s image would beat him in their primes (or simply if they were to fight Kaido when they were still alive) no debate. The one I left out (besides Shanks for now) is Oden. I only left him out because some people still genuinely believe that Oden could not beat Kaido, but there really is no argument for Roger, Rocks, and PrimeBeard not stomping Kaido. Personally, I thought the manga made it clear that Oden would have won.
Therefore, Shanks is there amongst FOUR other people who would have beat Kaido’s ass. Why would he be up there if he couldn’t do the same? Your theory of Shanks being the “strongest” of his generation might not be too far off man...

The prime rayleigh vs oden flashback might be a bit spicey of a take considering we don't know how much growth Oden had in terms of strength in the year he sailed with Roger, so that could be up for debate. But I definitely think Rayleigh was stronger than Oden when the Roger pirates clashed with the Whitebeard pirates on that random ass island.

kaido clearly has no respect for the marines and blackbeard. the way blackbeard does things is against kaidos morals thats why he does not consider him in hes "top 5". its entirely posible that kaido wanted to destroy the marines with WB and not actually attack WB from behind because thats not how kaido does things and thats exactly why shanks stoped him because shanks wanted to preserve the balance of power in the world which is also exactly why he let blackbeard leave marinefort allowing him to become a yonko to restore the balance of power created when WB died. another reason for blackbeard not being among them is that he intentionally keeps a low bounty to create the illusion that he is not as strong as the other yonko when in reality he is stronger than them with shanks being the only one to realise that and go to worn the WG, kaido not so smart to see through it though which might contribute to BB not being on hes list.

It is in no particular order because Kaido is not doing a powerscaler-esque tier list, just thinking of the people who gave him a run for his money. That doesnt mean out of those 5 that he considers them all equal... If I had to guess, it would be 1- Rocks 2- Roger 3- WB - 4-Oden 5-Shanks. Personally I think prime WB was stronger than Roger but it is what it is.

I read it almost like a personal test for Kaido. Like, "so you're telling me you're on their level? Let's see it". I think Kaido honestly wants that, and he's hopeful for Luffy to become one of those guys during this fight. Especially since we've seen how much stronger luffy can get during a fight.
