50 year old Coats 1010. Fantastic machine for its time. Back in '65 through '68, I used these and their predecessor, a pneumatic double pedal bead breaker, then a long bar to peel the tire off the rim and roll the new one on. In '65, at all of 15 years old, I used the earlier Coats during the summer between my Freshman and Sophmore high school years (1966) and consistently changed 50 to 70 tires each day. Four new tires with bubble balance in 30 minutes or less -- doing it alone. Today's tire service people have it so much easier with the machines they have.
Great video! I have one of these old coats tire changers too and only started using it recently. We've had it since I was a boy and I was not allowed to go near it in those days.
I have a question, I just got a 1010 but the arm won't go back down. Is that a qwick air release on the right side between the pull arm and the center?
Great video Brandon, what PSI pressure are you using as i just purchased this machine for my home garage and only have a 125 Max PSI compressor, i hope i don't need to buy another compressor as i believe that this machine requires 150 your input is appreciated. Thanks
Mui buenas tardes me gustaría aser una pregunta lo que su sede es que llocompre una makina de esas pero es ta des sarmada y no tengo ihdea como armarla me gustaría saber cómo ar mala le agradezco de antemano muchas gracias
Very similar to taking it off except you lube it up and you use the other end of the tool that spins. It’s shape is designed to push the tire down under the rim edge as opposed to pull it up over the rim like he did in this video
Spent many hours over a Coats 1010 Super Powerman changing and patching tires way back in the early to mid ‘70’s.

I know, I watch them and get jealous.
So that's about how old this is huh? Late 60s?
I want to get a bubble balancer, but in due time.
You can crank out a lot of tires with these old machines.

My dad used one of these in the early 60's, when they first came out

Is there a specific reason you didn’t show us how to put a new tire on using this machine?
Didnt have a new tire
Brandon's Garage that’s a good reason

Valve core
Can it take off a 17 inch tire?
Should! I've done 16's without issue.
I need used machine coats 10 /10
I have the same machine. Good old machine only does up to 17 inch rims tho.
Is that true up to 17 inch tires only.
