The more we talk about Freddie Mercury, the less it is. If there was only one Queen song, "Bohemian Rhapsody", that existed, Freddie Mercury would still be one of the greatest singers to have ever existed and Queen would still be legends!
Although, the quality that really sets him apart from every other vocalist on the planet is Freddie's versatility. He could go from opera to hard rock without a single flaw! People argue that Freddie was overrated - by no means! He deserved all the recognition he got, if not even more!
His singing voice is unparalleled. In 2016, a group of Austrian, Czech, and Swedish researchers conducted a study on Freddie’s mind-blowing vocal talent. And it basically confirmed what we already knew - that Freddie’s vocals were truly one-of-a-kind.
“His technique was astonishing. No problem of tempo, he sung with an incisive sense of rhythm, his vocal placement was very good and he was able to glide effortlessly from a register to another. He also had a great musicality. His phrasing was subtle, delicate and sweet or energetic and slamming. He was able to find the right colouring or expressive nuance for each word.”
    - Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé on Freddie Mercury

IA that What made their live performances so legendary was Freddie’s ability to make it a shared experience between band & audience. And it was usually very spontaneous.
One of the most accurate quotes IMO:
“The other members of Queen wrote songs-often great songs-but it was Freddie who sold them.”

Don't agree with the extra teeth theory, then you go on to say his choice of clothing made a difference to how we heard him???,,,, shut your eyes, add headphones, enjoy Freddie. Just another youtube vid trying to jump on the back of HIS success.

Freddie's teeth were also a bit bucked, making an excellent acoustical chamber to impact fullness/richness of tone. Freddie would have no more gotten dental work as Barbra Streisand would get a nose job (and she doesn't have extra nostrils).

I know the secret. It's called "Placebo". The reality is his bloated hype, brought on by his obsessive fanboys, has been vastly exaggerated. Freddie was a good singer for sure, but his voice was frail and thin, and his range, while above average, pails in comparison to SO many other singers in the rock and metal genre. I prove this in my video where I compare him to Bruce Dickinson (a vastly superior singer)
