I have 3 square G-Shocks (like chips, you can't have just one). When I first saw the all metal square G and the price I thought they must be crazy, who would ever buy such a thing. Well...after a bit with my other squares I did just that. I have not regretted it for a second. I absolutely LOVE this watch. There is just something about it, its one of those things you just don't understand it until you experience it. It has become my primary go to when I go on vacation, it can do anything, go anywhere and always looks great doing it. Plus no one wants to steal it, like a Rolex. Others have moved in and out of my watch box but this one is here to stay. Thank you Russell for another great, entertaining review. Keep up the good work - Cheers.

Really enjoy your reviews! This one is my 3rd Gshock in collection. It has an auto light function as well, hold light button down until you hear a beep and when you lift your wrist to view time the light comes on for a few seconds. Cool feature and not all Gshocks have that, 2 of the 3 I have do and really helpful when it's dark. Cheers

Very entertaining as always. As survival instructor and traveler the G-SHOCK GW-M5610U-1ER is the one for me. The GW-5000U-1ER is an option if you are ok with a bit more weight in return for a metal inner case, screw down caseback and higher price. This all metal one is more like a dress watch if you still want the statement made you are also an outdoor person or just love G-Shocks. Other than that it does not add anything and you can't even see the status of the battery. As a dress watch I wear a hand wind field watch. But truth be told. As only watch this would be an option.

Fun video. I think it's fantastic. Wouldn't wear it as a beater, but to work in a semi formal office, a nice night out, etc., it works well. That is what I think of it, it's a casual everyday watch you can use most anywhere and use it like you would any analog steel watch. A bit expensive, so I bought a full stainless steel homage from a local Orient sub brand. I wear it everywhere, even with a suit! Thanks for the great video.

  • @BAF605

Since I bought my GBD H-1000 (ABC, heart rate, GPS, accelerometer, bluetooth) I haven't worn another. I think I've found the perfect G for me. My only complaint is it's a little heavy but I accept that for the functionality. Never got the metal cases and still don't but there are Gs for everyone that's the beauty of them. I tend to agree with the wife on this one. 😊

This has been my only watch since 2019 February. It is robust as all good shocks are. Dropped it few times. Gets dirty I was it and let it dry. The thing I like about it is it looks and goes under the radar but also doesn't feel plasticky and throw away. One slight criticism in the beginning was it looked too shiny. But I have gotten used to it now. Wish they did a matte version of this.

I have the 5610 bc with a rose gold mod kit on love it, but I just had to get me the 5000 in full metal so just ordered one from the same place as you on special offer now for £351 so couldn't resist comes tomorrow, I own about 30 watches all mechanical recently brought the casio oak the green metal with green strap and love it then saw the 5610 on ebay with the mod kit for £100 in mint condition so brought that so that got me to buy this watch having mechanical watches all the time it's so cool just to no that my casio 5610 blows the lot of the out the water with how accurate the time is with the mutiband 6 feature. I was going to get a 5610 and buy the silver mod for it would of been alot cheaper but after watching your video and you talking about how good the fit and finish is and the screwdown back made my mind up. This watch is a beauty for any square fan indeed. I was checking this one at a retail store this week. The dial looks really crisp, I like the fonts, the case and the bracelet look great too - yes it is blingy, but in a proper way... But that's the worst part! I just couldn't imagine using this one like my other classic resin squares. They're like Mike Tyson in the ring - I don't necessarilly want their face to get beaten up, but I won't worry much if they do so, because they can handle it. And I'd absolutely hate to have the metal square all scratched up, but what's the point of the g-shock tech here then? That's what I was thinking while checking them, so I saved me these 500 bucks in the end.

Bought the GMW B5000 last Christmas on an offer where I got a discount of £120 on it. Absolutely, and totally worth it. I think of it as a more "dressier" G Shock, as the GW M5610 is my Casio F91W if that makes sense. The F91W and the A168 on my 20cm wrists look as if I've nicked them from my missus or my nephew, as they look too small and weedy for me. Got an absolute behemoth recently in the for of the Casio "Sand and :Land" edition, the GX 56 SL 4ER which is very over engineered if you thought a normal G Shock was hefty enough. Funky red and black colour, that looks like meat. Brilliant.

100% agree TMWC, if you don't already have a G-Shock then you're in for a err... a (G) shock! I have this watch but I got mine after already experiencing G-Shocks (I also have the solar 5610 that I purchase some years before). Call it a dress version of the 5610. When you first put this watch in the wrist outside it's so shiny that you feel you'll be attacked at any moment by an ever increasing number of magpies on the way home from raiding a jewellery convention but that's only because it's a G-Shock. It's a keeper.

Nice review, I've looked at this watch a few times myself but just can't justify the $650 Canadian price tag. However I did get the Sanda 390 homage for $15 and for that price it's a decent watch - it's surprisingly comfortable (and interestingly the end links angle down a bit further than the G-Shock so it fits nicely). It's just a basic digital watch, no bells or whistles, but it does the job.
Maybe one day I'll pull the trigger on the real one, or even better the titanium version ($4000+!!!)
Or maybe not, my wife would kill me :)

I got into watches in 2020, in isolatalion when I had covid. Until then my only watch for years was a Fossil Coachman, bought by my wife. Never cared avout watches, as I thought " I have a phone". Somehow I started watching Time Teller videos, bored in bed. And the THV, and then Teddy. In 10 days I knew more about watches than I ever did. And I wanted a watch of my own. Although mechanical watches were prevalent in those videos, everyone praised Casio and GShock. I got into mechanicals and automatics butI remebered I use to have some kind of digital watch at the begining of the 90' , most likely a turkish knockof of Casios back then, in Eastern Europe. So I got into Casios. Bought myslef the F91w, and then I fell in love with Gshock. The 5600. and then I found about the metal ones. GWM B5000s. And the rare beauty that is the IP aged version.GMW B5000 V-1er. Fell in love at first sight. A more cyberpunk, retrowave, blade runneresque watch I haven't seen ( well with the exception of Harrison Ford's Microma in the movie). It is in my opinion the best version out there of the metal G square. There was only one problem. Being limited edition oer 300 per zone, they were already out of stock and the second maket was even mkre expensive than the oricmginal which was about£900. almost double than the black normal version. I got myself that one, and even that I was thinking was quite a bit of money. However my wife was still seeing me watching pictures of the patinated one. Unbeknownst to me, she already bought it for me, she was just waiting for Christmas to give it to me. When I finally got it I was over the moon. it is just a gorgeous watch. At the moment is part of my " 2 watch collection", alogside the Christopher Ward C60 Saphire, another superb piece. It's my office and business watch, everybody that I meet is like wooah, all others being Tagged and Tudored and Submarinated :)). It's my winter watch. It's my adventure watch. It's my perfect watch.

edit: it's somehow like better, or at least a perk of ownership, that only a watch person would notice or care about the differences, and part of the fun in having them all. To most folks, they'd just see them all as the same basic digital watch 😏😉😌

Great watch, but $400+ is, IMO, too much for a digital watch like this. I have the $22 Chinese SKMEI, which is an "homage" of the watch and is 20-times less expensive. I would suggest buying the SKMEI as a test and if you like it keep it, you can then upgrade and spend $400 on the GShock to get the "real thing."
