    i have a customized casio oak frost silver which the band texture is rough and perhaps given the material usage and quality the band kinda rust over time. I guess with this new 40th anniversary texture statement crytallisation, the sparkle effect does does push innovation to the next level with recrystallization and deep-layer hardening, that layering protects the finishing from scratches and provide the crystal shine effect. I think casio has done well with adding frosty band into their collection without messing up the quality. The silver crystal is on my wanted list. The price is steep here in Asia but being the first line, if they do wanna keep the line going well.. the first is always the OG collection !

    very nice review!!! i just picked up the 5610U but i'm so tempted to return it and get the DW-5040PG-1. I'm a little torn and maybe you can help. I love so much about the 5610U, looks, functionality, module specs, solar and multiband. It's got a ton going for it and i can't stop staring. Totally brings me back to childhood but with modern flair. But i really really really dont like how its viewing angle is so limited. I like glancing at my watch for time, but i find i have to have it angled very specifically to read anything. I'm between 2 notches on the band, one is kinda tight and the other is loose enough that i have to move the watch with one hand to get it out from under my sleeve. Both get old quickly. I'm not sure it its the caseback, but i wouldn't say it feels amazing on the wrist or that i can wear it all day no prob. It irritates eventually. I keep trying both slots to see if it breaks in better and hasn't.
    The DW-5040PG-1looks stunning. I love the gold screen and having the brickwork more prominent. With so many square's looking similar, i really like that this is traditional yet stands out as unique. Do you think this model has a wider range of viewing angles than the 5610U? would its screw caseback be more comfortable? Even if the band leave me between notches, maybe the caseback would make it feel better overall. I can live with it lacking solar (but it is cool) and i can always manually adjust the time with other multiband watches. But I do wish it had both. I don't use world time a ton but it sure is nice when you do, so I'd eventually miss that too. I think it's looks keep bringing me back to want this, but i would miss some of the 5610's tech. If it is better to see time at more angles, and feels better on the wrist, it might be for me. But if its the same bad viewing angle and fit it similar, i guess i should stick with the 5610.
    Any feedback on these questions is much appreciated and I'd love to hear your thoughts on if you think i'd like this 40th better than the 5610 based on my comments. Thanks for a great video and your time!

    • @lookatwrist
      @lookatwrist  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, good questions. There are too many squares to pick from.
      Both the GWM5610 and the DW series have TN lcds, and will have similar visibility. The U model has an LED backlight, which is better than the earlier ones with the EL panel. Its possible the anniversary model has better visibility in some situations but I'm not sure.
      The screwback, most people think is more comfortable. I don't know about everyone though. If you're still using a resin strap you run the same risk of having a not quite right fit.
      These are a lot of money to just take a guess at. I'd suggest trying to fit one on somewhere. I think a better bet is the GW-5000U. It has the solar, multiband, but it's a screwback, and has a softer strap.
      Nothing beats the full metal if you can save up. Lots of microadjust, and a great STN display, which is very very legible. see if you can see one in person.

    • @gpunique
      @gpunique Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks so much for the great response. Its very helpful and I like the other suggested models too. I kind of want a traditional square but just a little difference which is why i think the 40th anniversary catches my eye. Just a little flair. The 5000U is a bit too monochromatic for me, even though I know how special it is. Full metal does look awesome too but since i wear dive watches as well, i kind of want a more sporty look in a daily beater (that i don't want to worry about around my 4 year old) and save the metal flash for my fancier watches. That being said the GMWB5000PC-1, also a 40th anniversary model looks insanely cool! I didn't know these metal bracelets had lots of microadjust. My metal bracelets tend to move around which I dislike, so that was another reason i haven't looked into metal g-shocks much. DO you know if this one has microadjust and a STN display?@@lookatwrist

    • @lookatwrist
      @lookatwrist  Před 3 měsíci

      To my knowledge, all bracelet model full metal squares have micro adjust holes.4 to choose from. I think they are closer together than the holes on the resin straps, so you're more likely to get a good fit.
      I think all full metal squares have the STN display as well. And only the full metal ones. The GW-5000, GW-B5600, do not.

    I had an issue with the steel PS model. The bezel had just about none of the carbon specs on it, and completely mismatched the bracelet to the point it wasn't wearable. The bezel looked like it was spayed with silver paint. My AD is sending another one, but that was disappointing.
    I saw another review showing the gold one, and the reviewer even showed that some of the links were a very different tone (darker) than the rest.
    I don't recall a mention of this in the marketing. Yes no two are alike, but I wasn't aware of the huge differences in color and finish appearance.

      I sort of agree, but what I appreciate Casio doing is continuing to make the $200 GW-5000U, $100 GWM5610, and $50 DW5600E. Some other brands would have discontinued those or raised their prices. So these limited expensive editions are completely optional, to be ignored by those that feel they're overpriced, but it's an option for the GShock square superfan. Everyone wins?

      @lookatwrist It's not suppose to be that expensive IMHO. As much as I love Casio (I really think that it's the best watch brand out there) and G-Shock squares - I can't justify paying $1000 for 40th anniversary edition. I definitely can afford it, but I'm thinking how many great watches I can buy for the price of one iconic watch? Also - it looks unique and gorgeous, I might just get one later, so forget what I've said.

    I just can't like Digital quarz watches , everyone has a different taste , my favorites are Automatic Dress watches , it would be perfect with titanium Bracelets

      For me it's all about time and place. Going back and forth between gshocks and automatics makes it feel like things are always different.
