    Thank you so much. I experienced a TBI when I rapidly withdrew from 7 different psychoactive medications within 6-7 months. I developed severe Akathisia and I still have great difficulty with executive functions.
    I was treated with neuroleptics for almost three decades. Now I am 3 years medication free. I am finally Happy and depression free but I'm at a standstill in my recovery. You have given me hope. Thank you.

    1990 TBI, got better and better and better... Then in 2012 second concussion and I can't seem to get past the plateau and back stepping. Not giving up, just looking for the right door.

    Ten years after I can say I’m a lot better, but I still have “residual” effects; Post Concussion. I’ve used a lot of different techniques to get to where I’m at now to the point that I’ve finished two graduate degrees (that was one of my goals). Even after a brain injury it’s possible.

    Your channel has so much good information. I appreciate the specifics of who to find or what book to read. My husband is 1 year out from his brain injury. All of this new information It is very overwhelming, but it's a good thing, because there is so much more hope. So often doctors tell my husband that "this is your new normal" "get used to it" I just find that unacceptable. Living the way he does right now should not be acceptable. Thank you Dr. Arenander for saying that there is always room for your brain to learn new things.

    Nathalie, I just discovered you and I’m glad I did. I had a TBI last year. Mild compared to most of the commenters here. The most recent episode I’ve seen on here was 2016. Are you still there? Are you okay? I’ve only watched a couple videos so far. But you have helped me. Thank you, Coach.

    Wow! THANK YOU!!
    Excellent advice! I was the Passenger in a Fatal Motorcycle Wreck last year (8/5/17) in Wichita, Kansas. There was oil on the on-ramp at 9am on a Saturday morning. Neither of us had Helmets on. The Wreck took the Driver's Life & left me with Traumatic Brain Injury and a slew of other issues. I didn't want to wear a Helmet because it didn't "look cool"... I've found that Death and Brain Injury doesn't look cool either.
    Thanks for sharing this info! -Lacey Ann

    This is very very helpful. I had a very bad car accident about 4 years ago. All I could remember was my car spun and that's it coz I was knocked out till the ambulance came. Had a cut at the back of my head, hairline fracture my skull, blood clot etc...Well, basically, the recovery period was so so so tough, slow and frustrating. After a year, I thought I'm fully recovered as I'm back working as usual. But I've been having trouble with sleeping (couldn't sleep when I'm supposed to and when I fall asleep, it's long hours of sleep), bad headaches, vomiting. I've even been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. So, I seek for a second opinion and had a full brain & spine MRI few days ago. Found a cyst (0.6 x 3cm) at my left lower frontal lobe. But the doctor said it's something that I shouldn't be worried about. Maybe he's right, but it's just bothering me. I never knew about TBI (even during my recovery period) till I saw ur vids. I just don't know what to do now to address my health issues. I don't know whether it make sense for me to still having the TBI after all this years. Anyway, thanks a lot for the videos. Continue inspiring others.

I would check with your state's Brain Injury Association for experienced doctors in your area. Hang in there! It gets easier.

    My expectation (fair or not) is returning to my old self - that’s all I want - I don’t care about making lots of $$$ or achieving advanced learning (If I was fine I’d do that myself if I wished to do so) - just being my old self is all - I’m “physically fine” I just can’t want to do anything - my old self would have been content with working to get bigger targets but as far as I’m concerned that’s something I should be able to do in my own without financial or outside help

    @TheTBICoach - Is there a possibility of "rewiring" the brain when there is dead brain tissue as a result of internal bleeding? 20 years ago, when I was 14, I was struck in the head by a moving car, the entire initial impact was absorbed by my head in the area of the right frontal lobe. I had epidural and subdural bleeding with mass effect. The internal bleeding was not able to be evacuated as they had to use a craniotome to fit a titanium plate in the area they removed the shattered skull from (the car was still moving at a good speed when it hit me - no helmet). That being said, most of the brain matter that was saturated in blood has died. I've seen the MRIs and CT scans, it's very scary. A lot that I see about TBI has to do with damaged, not dead, brain tissue. These techniques and treatments sound promising but I don't want to get my hopes up if my situation wouldn't be a good candidate.

      Hello Michael, I am not a doctor. But I have talked with many many people with cutting edge technologies that help heal brains. One stands out at the moment. And that is Nora Gedgaudas telling me off camera of her Neurofeedback client that had severe life long issues that went away with neurofeedback. A scan later revealed that she was MISSING a significant portion of her brain! Yet she was now living a fully functional life. Her brain had created new neural pathways around the missing part. Anything is possible. But not if you don't try! With skilled help, you CAN make improvements.
      Here is her interview (czcams.com/video/BjSSxMypJWI/video.html

    7 years after learning a had every bone in my head broken and multiple subdural brain bleeds ignored as the missionary who is a GP doctor of a missionary private prison island empire had his wife write a book about herself being an amazing nurse as she abd her husband left nē rotting covered in thick moulds in a wet caravan bed where I'd lost 10 kino by the time I woke from six months total amnesia, to be put on food powder i have un creek water which has kept me alive fir seven years as i beg for help. The English did the same massacre in the Southern Hemisphere as they'd done in the pirates of the carribean wars from approx 1800,but especially in the 1860s, and I'm on the last missionary private prison island empire that's nefariously in cahoots with the government who still need to visit tge queen of England to get permission to govern. I'm welsh. My mother tongue wasxbabbed by tge queen and not made fully legal until 2012, which us why my cymru flag is not on the "United Kindom" flag as tge English king murtle the turtle cult believe they own the world. Because I'm white, and have an English father, I'm not legally allowed to say I've been oppressed by the English, so the English missionary who owns me claims my injury is a mental health problem, which it is! Tge mental health of the missionary, not me! You right white American Americans don't know your roots. Yakki da asxyiu gi in to kill my biosphere as well as my brain. China inherited control of the world's Lithium as your latest war for oil failed.It and the gold are all disposable gadgets as the English kill everything..oh yeah, my brain isn't totally dead, unlike my loved ones mackenzied317@gmail.com

    You talk about TBI in some cases wiping away certain "filters" does that mean that people who may be some what, I don't know.. manic / neurotic / scattered etc. that can increase those issues ? and are they helped with the essential oils also ? Thanks (for my Mom)

    • @BrainRecoveryCoach
      @BrainRecoveryCoach  Před 7 lety

      Any issue in your life that was already a challenge, will definitely become more of a challenge when the brain is injured. All of those things are common with brain-injured people as they can vacillate between having no ability to concentrate and perseverating (no ability to stop obsessing). Please be compassionate and patient with her. It probably bugs her more than it bugs you!
      Oils are not likely to cure this but may help balance the nervous system and improve brain function. I can order medical grade oils for you, please contact me at TheTBICoach@gmail.com if you are interested.

    • @ryancampbell2969
      @ryancampbell2969 Před 6 lety +3

      Prettypoutsandglambyroxie Byroxie I can only speak from my experience, but I'll try. 7 years ago I had subdural and subarachnoid hematomas and was in a medically induced coma for 4 days. I was lucky in that I didn't lose the ability to walk and talk. I did however have severe short term memory problems for about 6 months or so. Back to your question about the lack of smell or taste. I too, lost my sense of smell, which of course severely affected taste. Unfortunately, now 7 years later, I still don't have the sense of smell. My neurosurgeon thinks that my olfactory nerve was damaged or severed and unfortunately does not repair itself. Hopefully that is not the case with you, but I just wanted you to know that you may never get it back. I am still able to enjoy foods and my life overall is still good. We humans are amazing creatures and our bodies are often able to compensate in other ways. Good luck, I hope this helps!
