I've owned my little Volvo C30 for just about 10 years now; Recently I've been getting the dreaded 'Keyfob battery low' warning.
In this video I demonstrate how to change the battery quickly and easily without fuss.
No need to take it into Volvo or halfords, and no need to reprogram the key once the batter has been changed.
The volvo 5 button key fob takes a CR 2450 battery, which you can find on Ebay for a few ££s. I bought a two pack for around £4 as I have two keys, so i'll be keeping the other one safe for a while.

Note - I have heard on some discussion boards that you have to do the swap in under 20 seconds or the key will need ‘re-programming’ by the main dealer - I did not find this to be the case personally - Mine was ok, I probably took around 2 to 3 minutes to change mine without issue.

I left mine dismantled for about 30 minutes while I took a dump....it was fine.

If you look on the fob with the Volvo logo upright, just above the protrusion on top you can see a small indent. That indent is for prying the fob open.

thank you please note that you have to match the key compared to other years and models i thought this was a 2032 battery but after matching the exact key fob the 2450 is the right one and i saved myself a extra trip to the store and a battery that would not fit.

I did replace mine recently with a new battery cos the previous one was dead and ever since it’s refuse to work with my volvo S40 2008, please what should I do? I’m so pissed about this.
My car wouldn't open, like at all, so I got inside with the manual key and then tried to start the car, but 0 power. So no idea if it's the car battery or the key fob battery.

I did this and still doesn't work. I didn't get a notification. It just stopped working. I assume it was the battery. 2008 C70, any suggestions.
I've had to change mine several times over the years I usually get a warning when it's about to go. That's really odd. May be an electronics issue with the key that needs investigating. Does the spare still work ok?
@@Garjames1 I have a newer fob, it will crank the car. But the key will not work on the locks.
I have a 2008 C70 too and just followed the video. The old battery was removed for a couple minutes while I opened the packaging for the new battery. No issues on my end.
Do you still have the C30?
Yes still got it. 12 years and counting!
