Whenever you are forced to stay at home, you might get bored, but rather than just spending your day on the couch, you can use the time to practice a series of Gentlemanly skills.
0:00 Introduction
00:43 Learn to appreciate whiskey
If you’ve always wanted to like whiskey but haven’t come around to it, consider using some of your time at home to experiment
01:49 Learn to mix your favorite cocktail
Being able to mix a good drink is a skill that is always appreciated by others. Every gentleman should be able to mix a decent cocktail.
04:58 3. Write thank you notes
Even though you might not feel like there is much to be thankful for, at times, the simple act of sitting down to write a thank-you note can have surprising effects on your own gratitude for what you do have.
06:06 Learn how to use a fountain pen
It’s a unique gentleman’s tool that will make all your handwritten correspondence look much more intentional, elegant, and even like you value the other person more.
06:55 Learn how to give great gifts
Great gifts show how well you know someone and that they are worth the effort to find something meaningful for them.
08:11 Learn how to cook a signature dish really well
There will be a time when you have to make and if you can produce something that tastes great and guest worthy, you will be remembered favorably.
10:30 Learn how to smoke a cigar
There are “old school” gentleman’s pastime that we think every man should consider trying at least once if they are interested.
11:18 Tie a necktie or bow tie
The goal should be that you can tie or bow tie blindly without a mirror.
12:14 How to wet shave with a DE razor
Once you’ve made an initial investment into the tools and products you need, this is one of the least expensive methods of shaving overtime.
13:50 Cultivate your hobby
Classic men’s style is my hobby, which I then made a business
14:26 Learn how to listen better
It reflects respect for the other person by valuing their contribution to a conversation as much as your own
16:11 Learn how to argue like a gentleman
17:59 Outfit Rundown - Jak na to + styl
Culture on youtube?!? No way! In all seriousness, I'm glad that content like this exists out on the internet. Thanks for helping spread class and style.
Here's an April Fools idea for next year, a video only in German. Without subtitles.
It would be a non-april fools day video too. I would really appreciate if it is about a gentlemanly subject from Germany.
Or its a normal video but he's in a hoodie and sweat pants
Sehr gute Idee
I can understand German I don't mind lol
Ja bitte das wäre eine gute Idee
I am a person that doesn't smoke nor drink alcohol. And when we are there don't even drink coffee. But tea is my cup of tea. I have a whole collection of world teas at home that I enjoy in the afternoon and evening. That is also gentleman like. Ask the British.

@Lord GigaByte
You should shave that hair you have on the top of your head. It's foul
@Lord GigaByte I already tried growing a beard in the weeks before finals in college - it didn't work out well :-)
And cigars foul up the cigar room, too, but you grow habituated if you confine it. OTOH, there is still the outdoors.
@Lord GigaByte same situation here
As a young boy, I knew I would never shave. Removing a thin layer of skin with a product everyday seemed so unnatural and unhealthy. As well as a big waste of time.
@Lord GigaByte q
First day of kindly asking for "How to Duel Like a Gentleman"
Turn to The Modern Rogue channel for that. They have already done quarterstaff, long sword, and rapier.
its called en garde!!!
Don't forget the half filled brandy sniffers precariously placed behind the heels of the belligerents by the dueling attendant, before the "En Garde!" Is officially declared!
Asking for a "friend"....
I'm an Australian female who really enjoys the channel and content. Informative, yet presented with sincerity and fun. Your warmth and good nature always shines through your videos Raphael. Keep up the great work!!
Excluding smoking and drinking, I might do the others!
Vielen Dank, Herr Schneider!
People:”what can we do while stuck at home during a pandemic?!?”
Sven:*slides bottle of whiskey across the table*....*wink*
"The first thing you can do while being stuck at home is to start drinking. Then you can mix the alcohol to hide your alcoholism and then write a thank you note to the delivery guy"
I guess it is time to “learn to appreciate whisky” . Hehe, see you in 5 years at rehab
HAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaahHAHAhAHhA
“Appreciate” whisky would mean savouring & sipping smaller quantities of quality = so no need to become alcoholic! Cheers 🥃 😃 whiskey 🥃 😀
@@4seasons546 wow you seem fun
I8somepoopoo - you’ve got that right ! Party 🎉 tonight 🎈 😆 make joy 🤩 everyday
Can we have a quiz on Gentleman’s Gazette content between Raphael, Kyle and Preston?
Sounds like a fun idea to me, Carl! Maybe a good activity for a future anniversary video of some sort. We'll see!
- Preston
@@gentlemansgazette it might end up with 3 guns drawn in the early morning in a forest clearing - the gentleman way. my oh my!
@@dirtyunclehubert Barry Lyndon style!
I’m glad I found your channel!!! Timeless and priceless information.
I'd love to do some of these but this weekend this gentleman needs to replace a section of wall in a bathroom after repairing a leaky drain pipe.
Start this round without me, I'll join you for the next one🍸
“MMmmmhhh! Your meat tastes so good!” Your great Sven
😏
truly a legend
who would have known getting hammered at home was a skill!
My resume is unbeatable now

@@alb5840 Thanks! :)
I’m an expert then!
Sven makes the Brazilian Homeland proud by metioning our best cocktail, best wishes from Brazil
After watching each video I gain confidence and I try to act like a gentleman.
Learning is living too!
Something that's sad is how "out of place" my wife and I look when we don't have our phones out while in a restaurant. The art of good listening is nearly lost in my opinion, at least here in the states.
No you don’t, lol. And no the art of listening isn’t dying.
honestly, knowing how to make the standard cocktails with your guests or if you're inviting a special someone over for dinner is a very attractive trait. If you could mix a cocktail, then make a delicious dinner for the special girl in your life, they will love it more than anything.
Hallo Sven,
Mach weiter So !!
Old fashioned, martini, margarita, and Moscow mule. People love them, they are shelf stable, and they are easy to make
Thanks for the great content. As for point 12, if the opposing party is a closed minded arguement based not on actual fact or cooperation, I just let them vent and not counter so that I can politely end the charade and do something else more productive.
After visiting Strasbourg twice last year (yes it is that awesome), when the wife and I came back to Canada, she had to learn how to make spaetzle. The food in the Alsace is amazing.
I watch these videos and think I’m being watched. The scotch, Mixed drinks, hand written notes, fountain pens, cigars and pipes. These are all things I do and enjoy.
Good message Sven!! I really liked how you emphasized "enjoying and appreciating" things in moderation.
You have such a pleasant voice!
I love this! We all should maintain ourselves. Use the time we're at home to do those things we've been putting off because we didn't have tme. This is a great channel.
You forgot shoe shining! It's a really valuable skill to learn and its much easier than mixology. The Elegant Oxford has tons of videos making mirror shining achievable in only 30 minutes. I've started using fountains pens and I'm picking up leathercraft during lockdown.
I fixed up all my boots with oil and everything.
Dear Mr. Schneider!
I highly appreciate your content. Please continue releasing your helpful and interesting videos.
I absolutely appreciate your entire video line up. Thank you.
Skill #12 is a Gentleman's Lesson Number One. Thank you Raphael
Someone please give this guy a TV segment
Love it
Great ideas!
For cocktails I can highly recommend Shaken, a book that walks you through all 007’s cocktails from the Ian Fleming novels rather than the films. Utterly fabulous cocktails!
Available as a hard cover book or an ebook.
Sven, you are the BEST. I really mean that! You own you! I have been inspired even at the age of 60, I aspire to learn as much as possible from you. Thank you for sharing. Sharing is Caring.
Pardon my French but, i fucken love these videos!! I think all schools should have course based on your teaching. It'll make more young boys to be more polite and respectful. Not just to society but women and elders. Your doing a great job and i hope you never stop making videos.
It’s so pleasing to watch a video in english and german words are pronounced correctly
I just purchased a fountain pen then watched your videos about them, I’m blown away after watching this and having you recommend one
This might be my favorite CZcams Video to date - thank You!
Terrific job! Thank You!!
Thank you for all of your help 😊
Excellent video!!! Fun and informative. Thank you.
Thank you Sven! For giving me the spark i needed! Your new vid is also very good. Now i should do these things instead of wasting my time. I hope at least someone would think highly of me then 😊
Excellent video for helping like-minded individuals. 👏👏👏
Raphael, you really got me with Spätzle and Maultaschen....
Great video, kind regards from Dresden!
Love your videos! Thank You!
I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos.
The stuff this channel makes is actually useful, most channels out there talk about stuff that people would normally never even do or use.
Your videos are so much fun.
Great as always!
Great video for long days at home.
Great video for quarantine
This channel helped me so much, when my mom said we were going to a high state restaurant, thank you so much man.
Very good summary of why I love this channel
I enjoy your work keep up the great work
Ich finde deine Geschichte so toll, deine ganze Ausstrahlung und den kompletten Kanal!
Ich wünsche Dir und Euch alles Gute und Liebe Grüße aus der Steiermark,
Tim Julius Huber
*Brilliant as usual.* 👌
we love your channel , good post!
I cannot say enough how much I appreciate Raphael and Preston at the GG.
Another great video. Thanks
I really love the into cant get enough!
I'm glad to see this channel getting better by time and evolving in a positive way (thankfully u're not losing in credibility like a friend of yours (vincero and mvmt guy)
Keep it up 👍
I used to ink my drawings with a fountain pen. It’s a great skill to have.
Heavy cream, lavender bitters, mead ( make sure it's real mead fermented from honey) , congnac, shaken with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Give it a shot you won't be disopointed
Good cocktails! My favourite will still be the vieux carré and the Cuba libre
Thanks Sven love it!
Great video!
Great video
Brazilian fan out here! Proud of you suggesting Caipirinha as one of the drinks. Cheers!
Very interesting and helpful video sir.
Sven, your very interesting presentation took my memories back many decades, when I was thrown into the "Deep End" with a virtually bottomless Corporate Expense Account, along with an American Express card with unlimited credit, when I had to entertain the Directors of the largest Corporations and the Heads of the largest Australian Federal Government Departments, as well as the visiting CEO's from the World largest Computer Companies.
While I was very well qualified in my field of employment I had absolutely no experience in all of the skills that you have explained in such an interesting manner.
While I eventually learnt how to spend other people's money, in a stylish manner, it was a stressful "Learning Curve". The major Universities would help their graduates if the practical suggestions that you provide were included in the MBA program. Lol. Phil.
Super Video 😃✌🏼
Ich warte ja nur darauf, dass da mal ein deutsches Video kommt... | I´m waiting for a German Video. ^^
@Puvendran Pillay ... und warum?
Ya, time for me to get my hands on a new fountain pen. I've been debating on it for years, now, because I miss the older fashion of writing, and using regular pens drives me up the wall.
Cooking, on the other hand?... I'm not much of a chef, as it is. My wife is more the chef than I could ever be. Just about the only thing i Can cook is something extremely high in raw iron and protein.
Cigars? Me, I prefer either Swishers or my pipe. Thankfully, I've had the same pipe for years, but I need more tobacco, too... Lol
I really enjoy this channel.
My Ladies favourite gift is just cash 😁 It’s very easy to figure out.
Spätzle und Maultaschen for the win 🇩🇪
Spätzle no, Maultaschen very nice
I have been a subscriber to your video series for at least a couple of years now. I must say that your videos are quite interesting and informative. This video is one of your best! By the way, where/how do you find all your classic rings that you wear?
Whisky is an acquired taste - so true. The husband and I didn't care much for it, but grew fond of Whisky after a few tastings and a bit of trial & error. Now we're both into Sherry or Port cask finished single malts. Also, we learned that Whisky and Chocolate can be a great combo if done right.
Nice place to learn more about a lot of cocktails is How to Drink on CZcams. Fabulous host with great history lessons
I have to say: Preston looks great in violet, gray suits and accessories to be honest!
Great content 👌
Love your channel bro love from India:-)
Good video 👌👍 gentleman
I love your clips! Thanks to you I may very well one day become a gentleman :-)
Excellent, especially the segments on “listing” and “arguing” and thanks for the drink app recommendation, (will try it out later :).
As for cocktail recipes I find what works best for me is I type them out in a large font and then print them on card stock. Sometimes I laminate them so there’s no worries about getting them wet. The card stock and/or laminating them helps them stand up while leaning against something. Also, you can keep them handy as a reference when you need them and you should be able to get 2-3 recipes on each card.
Perhaps get a rolodex for them, nice art-deco one perhaps
I have been developing an appreciation for wine during the quarantine, honing my lady skills.
I also write thank you notes on my monogrammed stationery. There are many stationers on Etsy, with reasonable prices.
I’ve been practicing my tie knots for my new job which closed for quarantine on my first day 😹 (3 months now)
I love your channel, though i am a lady.... I send all the best, to all true gentlemen, well done sir . Thank you : )
Caipirinha, Old-fashioned and White Russian are the ones I know. Keeps everyone happy.
Omg this video should be a must for every 18 year old
Love the presentation. Alcohol and tobacco I like. But I have given them up for health reasons.
Just learnt how to make perfumes @ home!
Absolutely LOVE the S/O to Tattersall!! Such an amazing place and can't wait to go back. Would be really cool to share a cocktail with a gentleman from GG. 1st round is on me!
Did you come home with a new yellow Tattersall Vest, as well as a recently garnered knowledge of good horse flesh?
@@vincentperratore4395 unfortunately I came home with neither of those things.
I've certainly been practicing a lot of whisky appreciation at home these last few months.
I like how he talks, haha, i can watch him all day
#3 got my cousins written out of our grandparent's will and trusts. They would not ever say thank you or send a note for anything our grandparents did for us and finally, my grandmother got tired of it and disinherited them and passed everything to their kids. My grandparents were definitely people who followed etiqute and proper manners in all situations as a lifestyle and expected the same from their kids and their kids kids.
Hi love your content priceless advice aso i am looking at buying the Bailey Medalist Fountain Pen by cross would that be a good choice for a nice fountain pen ?
Mr Schneider could you please make a video of 8 (or how many you think necessary) trousers and pants a gentlemen should have in his wardrobe. I find buying pants the most difficult piece of clothing.
BTW I don't drink or smoke but I love drinking my cup of tea. Very English very gentleman.
I don't think I would be the men I want to be without you gentlemen
