    00:00 Introduction
Quality and utility don’t always come with a high price tag. There are actually things that are useful and enjoyable to have, even though they’re cheap.
9 (More) Cheap But Awesome Things
    00:40 1. Feather Razor Blades
Personally, Raphael's favorite blade is the Feather blade because it is the sharpest, and he has relatively thick beard hair.
Feather double-edge razor blades are famous for being extremely sharp, so if you’re still perfecting the art of shaving, it’s not a blade we’d recommend. Also, if you’re very thin here it may not be the best blade.
02:33 2. Smoked Maldon Sea Salt
It helps to enhance the flavors and aromas of your food. The special thing about their salt is that it has these relatively large crystals and if you look at it, you might think it’s extremely salty but, in fact, it’s not, which is why it’s a wonderful finishing salt that looks really nice on your dishes but it’s not overpowering.
    03:43 3. Sleeve Ironing Board
It allows you to have a sleeve without any ugly ironing crease lines. While some people might not mind them on a shirt, a jacket with an ironed crease just looks terrible
    04:32 4. Flexible Measuring Tape
If you ever want to order clothes online or if you have close alterations, you want a quality flexible measuring tape that doesn’t get longer or shorter as it ages.
We found that the Singer brand measuring tapes have stayed in good shape for years, and we can use them over and over again. Sometimes, they can be hard to find. You might spot them at antique shops or at flea markets. If you can’t find them, vinyl or fiberglass tape is a good substitute.
05:30 5. The Laundress Stain Solution
As noted in our guide on stain removal, it is best to apply a stain solution as soon as you can after the stain hits the garment, otherwise, it has more time to set in.
It works for so many different stains. It’s a solution that works best on organic stains, such as tannins and proteins. So, that would include wine, coffee, ink, grass, blood, or tomato stains.
    06:51 6. CeraVe Lotion
If your skin is insufficiently moist, it leaves it dry, itchy, and uncomfortable. It’s also unsightly. While you can spend hundreds of dollars on brand name moisturizers, we found that the CeraVe does a really good job, and it doesn’t break the bank.
08:15 7. The Criterion Channel Subscription
They take a quality-over-quantity approach. Cinephiles may be already familiar with a Criterion Collection, which was started in 1984. The goal was to make significant, important, classic, and contemporary movies available to a large number of people.
    10:19 8. Martini & Rossi Vermouth
Vermouth is basically a fortified wine, meaning liquor is added to wine and it is enhanced with botanicals to achieve a different flavor profile. Vermouth, in general, is a very versatile drink that can be enjoyed on its own.
    12:22 9. Peter Pauper Journals
Peter Pauper Press all have a unique kind of artistic look with gold edging. It makes for a great gift and newlywed gentlemen should keep in mind that traditionally paper goods were the traditional one-year anniversary gift.

But...l *canceled* TCC *years* ago! I was in the process of collecting ALL of the whole entire archive, years of hunting and picking stores, swap meets, pawn shops, online (no ordering from the actual Criterion house, that was cheating!) and I was making really great progress on my titles.
Then one day my boyfriend called. He told me he had something bad to tell me, something that he knew that I was going to take very hard.
It was about the Criterion Collection: they'd added......."ARMAGEDDON".
"NOOOOO!!! YOU ARE THE FATHER OF ALL LIES!!!" I hung up on him, confirmed it, then dissloved into blubbering tears for the rest of the weekend. I was gutted. I felt sick.
I STILL feel sick, but I want to be *over* it, already! I guess I can let *one* abscess of a Blockbuster on an otherwise unblemished landscape go. It SHOULD be overlooked.
I want in on their CHANNEL, it sounds fantastic and I think I need it in my life!

As for Peter Pauper journals, I've been using them for years and absolutely love them. I'm glad to see Martini & Rossi vermouth recommended. It needs no apology. Carpano Antica, while a very fine vermouth, has a vastly different flavor profile from most other red vermouths. In particular, it has a strong vanilla note. It does not necessarily work well when mixing a cocktail like a Manhattan or a Negroni. Of course, to each their own taste, whether mixing it or drinking it on its own. I'm happy to have less expensive vermouths for excellent mixing, and once in a while I'll buy a small bottle of Carpano as a treat.

I know cocktail connoisseurs don’t like Martini vermouth, but it’s my go to. My favourite drink is the Negroni and I find the more expensive vermouths too sweet and syrupy. I find the Martini results in a more balanced drink (to my palate anyway).

I'd love to see you grow out a full beard one day, Rafael...you go the genes!

The feathers are great! But because they are so good you don’t need to change them that often they last long

I usually use voshkods, the cheapest I've found them was for .06€.
I haven't used feathers yet as I think that the price is a bit high.
While Merkur Blades are great, always IMO, I also think that they're expensive. In our local shop they are 10 times more expensive than the voshkods.
      As a Benchmark, I've bought 100 Astra's for 8€, 100 Voshkods for 6€ and 10 Wilkinsons for 2.55€.
The best results I've had with the cheaper blades. Both with a shavette and a Merkur Futur.
But my skin and hair is probably different to yours and the feathers might be better for for you.

      Feathers are expensive and overrated.

@@NJLev I've used them. The are really nice blades, although Astra is better value for money. But even then the price differences are not so big and compared to conventional razors still really cheap.

While I’m not really a fan of drinking vermouth, I am a big fan of cooking with it😁

Martini Rosso is a good vermouth, but the premium is Yzaguirre

I prefer Carpano Classico for Manhattans. Still pretty cheap but very good (better than Antigua Formula IMHO) especially with Bulleit Rye (which is also a decently priced but excellent product).

I love Nesti Dante soaps, made in Florence. Many years ago I stopped using shower gel and using their soaps instead. I will never go back. Most of the shower gels are just a waste of money.
