- Before I started this CZcams channel, I wrote reading experiences. I want to give a book some extra attention after I’ve read it, otherwise it is such an abrupt ending that simply feels unfinished somehow. I used to publish my written reviews on my website Leeservaringen.com. There are more than 500 reading experiences on that site. Some of those may be interesting to other readers. So, I’ve decided to every now and then browse through this backlog of my own book reviews and pick one that I believe is worthy of sharing with you.
Today I took from the vault my reading experience of The Last Cato by Matilde Asensi.
Enjoy!
I just finished the Last Cato now and came upon your review! I agree with all you said, but ever understood what the test in Jerusalem was
The only problem with watching other CZcamsrs channels is that it only increases the tbr. So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you!
Sounds like a fun romp. Looking forward to more of these. And it was fun to see your younger self!
Thnx Nev, yeah, those were the days... I have some 40-ish of these planned (if ever I can find the time to make them).
Awesome review ❤️! I am currently reading and it is slow in parts but engaging in others espacially when they are sleuthing and investigating. I really enjoyed when the two male leads "take" an important ancient document from Saint Catherine's Monastery in Egypt.
Thank you! So nice to hear you're reading this book right now.
What a wonderful treasure trove of reviews! And an opportunity to see your younger self!! I started reading spy thrillers as a teenager with Helen MacInnes, Alistair MacLean and Ian Fleming. Then came Ken Follett and Lee Child. Today I enjoy Vince Flynn and Jack Carr. Asensi is totally new to me!
I look forward to more videos from your archives.
Thnx BJ! Of all the authors you mentioned I haven't read a single one. I don't know how my favorite genre is called, but it is authors like Will Adams, David Gibbins, Jeanne Kalogridis, Kate Mosse, Kathleen McGowan, Raymond Khoury, Paul Sussman and J.G. Sandom. Perhaps Historical Thriller?
@DutchGreyBeard I highly recommend Follett (Eye Of The Needle and Key to Rebecca are 2 I still remember), Child and Flynn if you ever get the urge to try a spy thriller. And James Bond is better than you think. The only author from your list that I've heard of is Kate Mosse. I'm off to research the others 🙂.
whoa! Dutch No-Beard!
Doing a rebrand, glad you noticed!🤣
Good review. I was wondering Did you read the sequel?
Thnx, I didn't. Wasn't even aware there was one. I'll look it up.
