  • This video shows the viewer how to fix the problem on Chevrolet Express vans when air only blows out of the defrost vents. The problem occurs when the vacuum controlled HVAC doors lose vacuum and can't open or close. This is part of the HVAC Air Management System.

    Was gonna go to a mechanic to fix this. Then found your video, purchased that hose on Amazon and replaced. Took me 1-2 mins. Everything works now! Thank you so much!!!

      What hose did you end up getting?

    • @LoganFord91
      @LoganFord91 Před měsícem +1

      @cams3091 There are 2 sizes, 7/32 and 5/32. One size goes from canister under battery to a T fitting, the other goes from that T fitting to the top of the intake manifold. I'm the fleet mechanic for the company I work for. We have right around twenty Chevrolet Express vans and box trucks from 2006-2023. On at least 5 of these, the guy's told me it gets hot in the winter and cold in the summer, but it blows out of the defrost vents or blows out of every vent in the cab no matter what. An automotive shop the company used before I took over maintenance and repairs said that they all had bad blend door actuators, and 2 needed the climate control module(controller in the dash). Gave quotes from $450-$700. Go to a local parts store, get 5ft of each for $15-$20. Save yourself $500+ 😂

    Thank you so much! I had looked for hours for a solution thinking it was electrical before finally seeing this video. My 2016 Chevy Express 3500 can now blow through whatever vent I choose! I'd buy you a cup of coffee or a beer in a heartbeat!

    Had the exact symptoms and the video showed the exact solution, the vacuum hose was dry rot. My local automative had the vacuum hose in stock for my 2015 Express ... hose size is 5/32 from the vacuum tank to the junction and 7/32 from the junction the motor. I purchaed 2ft of both hoses needed for under $10.
    Thank you brotha so much for this video!

    💥 I just had transmission fluid lines replaced on the radiator of my 2001 Express 3500 that were right near that vacuum canister. Mine is under the battery. I picked up my van and realized that the air was only blowing at the floor and not on the dashboard or at the defroster. I pulled the battery and traced the hose from that round canister up about a foot to a T fitting and saw that the hose that goes from there across to the drivers side was cracked at the end. They must have bumped it when pulling out the trans lines. I snipped off 1/2” from the end, pushed it back on to the T fitting and VOILA…. Air blows from wherever it should now. Thank you. I owe you, bro 👊🏼🍺

MY long VACCUM hose was broken on top if my engine.. go-to lowes or hone depot and get 1/4 inch clear tubing and run through firewall to T connector under battery rack.. check other vacuum hoses too.. This was indeed my problem thanks for the video. I replaced the entire hose line through the tee and up to the engine just under the right side shroud inside the van. The entire rubber line was rotting due to it dangling next to the exhaust manifold. I secured the new line with zip ties to get it away from the exhaust.

      @@sb6162 the front of the hose is just under the battery connected to a ball diaphragm. The back you will need to go inside on the right/ passenger side and pull the engine cover back a few inches and you will see the hose connected to the engine. I do recommend replacing with the same type of hose. Mine collapsed but it was cheap water tubing and I expected it to happen. Also get some zip-ties to keep it up and away from the exhaust areas.
