  • You all how these stories go. Boy is into cars. Boy buys car. Boy has awesome adventures in car. Boy grows up. Man gets busy. Man doesn't have time / space for car. Man has family. Man misses car. Thennnnn Man recovers car with the help of a friend and bringings it back to life to former glory! Well, hopefully with that last part.
In THIS adventure we are with Kerry out on Long Island New York to help recover his 1967 Pontiac GTO. Now this isn't a barn find, it's not an abandoned car, but it IS kind of driveway find I guess... even though he's always known it was there just waiting for him. Either way, it's a cool old classic American Muscle Car and it needs to be brought back to life! Unlike many car revivals this car has only been sitting non driving for a little under a decade and SUPPOSEDLY ran well before it was parked. But you all have heard that "ran when parked" line before right?
So, 67 Pontiac GTO, hotted up Pontiac 400 under the hood, still has a QJet carb, a TH400 transmission, posi rear end.. what's not to love? Well of course this whole process doesn't go exactly according to plan. A few sparks, some fire, some burnouts, a bent hood hinge, a WHOLE lot of spare parts... yeah this was one heck of a weekend adventure.
Anyone who's watched out channel for any length of time knows we are Pontiac fans, we have several of them we've shown you and at least a few we haven't. Getting a chance to help bring another of these original muscle cars back to the street to spread cheer and happiness for the world? Well we certainly couldn't pass that up.
Huge thanks as always to all our subscribers, followers, fans, and customers who have made our business successful and gotten our channel to where it is today. Special thanks to the SRC / Street Racing Channel / SRC Garage / Old Man's Garage / Junkyard Digs folks for showing such amazing support for us over the past several months. Without all of you we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are today. We hope you enjoy this one!
Oh, and almost forgot Kerry has a much longer and more indepth version of this adventure and is going to document his entire process of bringing the car back to life. The link to his channel and video is below, check him out and if you're interested in following along please do.

My god man! I will admit to being a bit disappointed Austin didn't film at least a bit of the parts hoard removal, that had to take some doing. I get it, all hands on deck time and I'm betting the language got colorful a few times.... great root cellar but that entry is a bit snug.

Sorry, It isn’t for sale. At this point it’s a family member. It’s the numbers matching 400ci engine. 1967 was the first year for the 400 replacing the 389 so they look similar.

Lookie lookie another Pontiac! Going on adventures with friends and helping others join the Church of Bad Decisions! What do you all think? The GTO a worthy candidate of returning to the road? How much of a nightmare does this poor man have ahead of him?

Can't believe Kerry's been holding out with this gem for so long! Might have to go watch him bang knuckles on it.
As to difficulty level...that cover says lots of body work but mechanically it would be something I would feel comfortable taking on.... and I need a book or manual to change most parts/panels. Kerry seems a bit more competent than that! 😎

He and my mom got into and argument and left out haulin ass on a gravel road and couldn't make the curve over the bridge and ran it off 12feet down into the creek. Was Burgandy 64 with 389 4brl auto but all forward gears were out if it. He gave 75 dollars for the car and drove it home 8miles in reverse😂 bought a trans for 50 out of a drag car and buffed waxed it and he had 125 dollars in the best car he ever had he said. Got three tickets in the first two weeks, exhibition of speed, engaging in a speed contest and 100 plus. I raced the car every day, went through 3 engines 4 transmissions 3 clutches 2 rear ends. I currently own a 66 with a 400 tripower automatic but just isn’t the same. Still miss my first car. I’m 71 years old now. 66 and 67 GTO’s are two of the sexiest cars ever built.

Hello the GTO is an amazing car! The only thing I don't really understand is it looks like the garage has a lot of say junk or at least non car stuff. Why didn't he years ago clean it out enough to get the GTO inside the garage? On the one hand what's it to me but just in terms of what's the best for the car it would of made more sense to get the car inside the garage for all those years.

    • @LucoreAuto

This "storage" solution certainly wasn't the most ideal, and was never meant to be a long term solution. Unfortunately days turned into weeks, turned into months, turned into years... that's unfortunately how adult life goes sometimes. The garage is full of OTHER car stuff and lots and lots of bike stuff. No room to stash a big GTO 😞

You can figure approximately what rear end gear you have by turning the rear tire and comparing that to the turns of the drive shaft. It's not super accurate but will give you a rough guess.

Sorry, your friend carry, referred to the AMC as the junkies one,I look upon his as a typical gmc, general mess of crap

Yeah I said it but it helps to have some context. I am a bit of a Jeep and AMC fan, always have been. I have owned a few and loved every one. The comment about junkiest wasn’t because it was an AMC, it was literally just the condition of the car. Part of Power Tour was to challenge ourselves to see if we could do it in the worst condition vehicle Austin had, and unfortunately with its hole in the roof and the hole in the floor the AMX was the worst one. Truth be told I loved that little spirit by the end but I don’t think I want to drive through another rain storm with a missing sunroof.

I wish Kerry would not rev the engine to the extreme he is. Specially right from cold start. I cringe.
