If and when you do another Age of Sigmar video, can you please get 2+ Tough as a guest host?
I wholeheartedly support this
I gotta agree on this too
Great shout... He would fit in perfectly❤
Yes!!!!
YES YES YES!!!!
The lizardmen going toe-to-tow with chaos has strong Argonians counter-invading hell energy
I misread this as a TOW missile, and now I want explosive-toting lizards v. Chaos.
What I like about AoS compared to Fantasy and 40K is that the apocalypse, in many ways, has already happened. It is not so direly teetering on the edge. In short, the story can expand and grow in ways beyond - “and then they all died.”
So the cool thing about Ghur; if you read dynasty of monsters "the realm is alive" is presented as the land will randomly sprout mountains and gorges. The topography constantly shifts on almost a daily schedule almost to the point where it can be divined and mapped out like a weather pattern by certain people. A city was actually built on it on these massive pillars that held the city above the earth and no matter how it shifted around the city the city wouldn't be destroyed. As it expanded they would make new districts by connecting hanging platforms with chains to the city and the poorer you were the further down the chain you would live in. Very interesting design in my opinion
If Gotrek wants people to stop thinking he’s the reincarnation of the slayer god. He should stop murdering everything slightly hostile in reach.
If it looks like a god, fights like a god it’s probably a god.
The tentacle with a marshmellow is a nice touch
A soft, slightly sticky touch
A thing about Age of Sigmar’s factions that the playable armies are usually a single race, while in lore, the factions are very mixed, with some exceptions. For example, Stormcast and Slaves of Darkness only have playable humans, but in lore, includes elves and dwarves. The Cities of Sigmar have undead and orcs, there are dwarves helping out the sylvaneth, there are actual living people in undead controlled areas, and humans worship Gorkamorka. There are factions that are canonically around, but has no playable models. The biggest at the moment is Malekith’s people, but also includes chaos dwarves, a group of undead that are described in a way that sounds very familiar to the tomb kings, and the fimir, which are a destruction faction despite being chaos in fantasy
You can kitbash or 3d print to your hearts desires to do everything you mentioned in AoS
I imagine malerion will come out next edition, I can only hope can only imagine what they’d do with his faction.
Actually the point of stormcast is that they all are reforged into a different body, they have aelvish, duardin and human origins, but they loose their identity in the process, this comes out in the lore where they have features of their own race but aren’t quite there, they aren’t actually human at all anymore, only celestial
Most stormcasts use their helmets so anyone there could be another race and you just don't know
In short AOS is a massive cluster F with no cohesion whatsoever.
Everyone argues about if Fantasy or AoS is the best setting, but at least we can all agree that they’re both better than 40k
…
Because 40k doesn’t have Skaven
I'm waiting for 13th edition when the skavenblight plops out of the eye of terror
And the ratio of dumb:awesome is way to high in 40k. Every time I think a thing is cool, there a seven more which make me coil in disbelief
Would it be too much to ask GW to have a novel where there is a chaos cult on a Hive World that worships I giant horned rat?

Things you should never ask in warhammer: Settra to serve, Thanquol to do anything and what is the age of sigmar (man looks simultaneously 50 and 3000)
Yes the best fantasy warhammer setting.
What I really love about AoS is how the gods act. They’re supremely powerful, whole civilizations rise and fall in their name, their actions can change the lands around them, but at the same time they are flawed, petty and prone to anger.
They really remind me of our own mythological gods (Norse,Greece,Chinese etc). It gives them so many layers and opportunity for story telling
It feels like actual mythology which is why I prefer it than 40k to be honest
Doesn’t change the fact that AOS has a shitty lore that no one cares about. Only reason is it exist is due to having space marines in fantasy setting.

A faction of many titles, all of them earned by cool models.
Oh Colin, you should know that the A in Aelves, is silent.
Seraphon didn't become Daemons of Order. They have spawning pools onboard their ships, which became infused with Azyrite magic, which in turn allows the Starbourne to teleport around through the Slann. Starbourne also stay onboard their Temple ships in "High Azyr" where they continue to bathe in Azyrite magic which keeps them from Coalescing and becoming more feral.
I’ve read all this lore, I highly recommend you read it yourself. Because this was condensing massive amounts of lore into 2 hours. These stories are so WILD.
The battle between Teclis and Nagashnis INSANE.
in one scene Teclis turns all the flying Nighthaunt to mortals in mid air. Guess what happens to them 😂
What happened to them?
@@dreadknight8398 Gravity.
The way i imagine the Mortal Realms to exist is basically as a fusion of the Norse Realms (Asgard, Midgard, and such), and Minecraft worlds where while Minecraft worlds are infinite, they get more weird as you get further from spawn (imagine the farlands, but AoS)
This isn't that far off tbh. I think it was in the Malign Sorcery manual, it explained that the closer you are to a Realm's center, the more stable it is. The further you go out, the more wild and magical it becomes, with the very Realm's Edge basically bordering with Chaos. I remember that book had a few missions where you're trying to capture an Endless Spell on the Realm's Edge.
@@ShadowdragonYamiryu my headcanon is that the Mortal Realms are the sort of anti-warp, and they they are connected to 40k as a sort of counter to Chaos, but both the Mortal Realms and the 40k galaxy aren't aware of each other yet. It would be pretty cool if it was true, as imagining Stormcast fighting alongside astartes would be so kickass, or the skaven accidentally blowing up hive fleets would be funny as hel
I didn't know Age of Sigmar and thereby Warhammer Fantasy have a Elder Scrolls like Kalpa system of cycles thats fucking awesome
Feel ya bruv. My blood sugar crapped out during one of my big exams.
The Oldones made the realm gates. The Seraphon mapped the Astral matrix and their nodes. Be’Lakor started destroying the Astral Nodes
Can't wait when you start focusing in on the individual factions of AoS. Cuz once you get beyond the surface, there's actually a surprising amount of detail and story to explore.
Sigmar had the biggest hammer of all ages
1:16:00 “In the Land Before Time, Littlefoot defeated the Chaos champion known as Sarah and broke the Everchosen’s hold on the realms.”
1:48:16 a very great quote and explanation (wouldn’t be adverse to a part 2 with memorable parts or in-depth factions in the new world)
@TheAmberKing its Arthur C. Clarke's third law:
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”. From Profiles of the Future: An Inquiry into the Limits of the Possible, 1962
Getting rid of Felix was such a massive bone head move in my opinion. The books were always told from his perspective and more about him than Gotrek. Hell, they're literally about him, hence why the in lore books he wrote are called "My Travels With Gotrek." Gotrek might be more notable and the primary hero of the story, but having Felix as the narrator and co-protagonist put everything in a more relatable aspect of a sort of everyman wrapped up in events beyond his control that made the stakes of failure and success feel impactful, for me at least.
Fantastic video, i really enjoyed this, would love to hear more AOS stuff!
I’m glad people are starting to actually read AoS novels and not just repeat outdated and misinformed information from the first edition
Nagash actually isn’t the last one to leave, in Chronicles of the Wanderer, it is revealed Gorkamorka and Teclis (maybe Tyrion) actually stood at Sigmar’s side at the final battle after Nagash’s betrayal dickery.
The last to leave was Grungni. He helped Sigmar build the Amvil of Apotheosis and the initial creation of the Stormcast Eternals.
@@Qshafe Grugni never left the pantheon, he’s so far the only god to have truly remained part of it other than Sigmar.
@@riokollivier He left at some point after building the Anvil. We know because Sigmar took a particular interest in the realm of Chamon during the Realmgate Wars because he was looking for Grungni to try and fix the issues with the Anvil.
He never stopped siding with the pantheon of Order, but he did stop helping Sigmar at some point during the Age of Chaos.
Would love a Fantasy Fireside for the Stormcast Eternals specifically. Love my Thunder Lads!
I'd love to see you guys theory craft abit, or talk about the Orruk warclans just being absolute chads
Rip in peace Andy
Personally I’m not into fantasy but hearing about it and the jokes is always a sweet treat to enjoy and watch it’s definitely more wacky or wild then most things I’ve seen or heard about in both versions of fantasy be it one world or the many realms
I’ve really been getting more into fantasy from some of Pancreasnowork’s stuff and playing through total war! But I’m really liking the age of sigmar stuff cause it seems so grand and I wanted to get more into that so I’d like if y’all did some more AoS stuff! Great vid! That’s so funny the Lizardmen just fucked off into spaceships haha. What realm are they in and are they a part of the Order faction? Do they have their own god? Are they on okay terms with like elf’s, drawfs and humans since they all hate chaos? Great stuff!
Lizardmen are part of Order, alongside Stormcast, Fyreslayers, and Lumineth, though that does not mean they are staunch allies or completely aligned with their goals. In Broken Realms: Be'lakor, a host of Stormcast was being rocked by a Slaves to Darkness warband and an army of Lizardmen marched past and, rather than aiding the Stormcast, they marched on and allowed them to die - they had their own goal and they were not about to be delayed.
As for their gods, they do have a lost god or two, Sotek still exists, and they also pay homage to Dracothion. Lord Kroak is the deity level character that Seraphon can field on the tabletop properly.
I’d love it if y’all did a follow up where you did just do a brief overview of the various factions.
If we are allowed to request episodes I think both Sigmar and Archeon Episodes would be good and maybe with the exception of Chaos an episode on each Grand Alliance explaining the factions within them in a more general sense.
Also of course the greatest Human Kingdom Britonnia needs an episode.
You can't really kill nagash because hes dead. His soul is connected to a corpse, you can cut that connection but the soul just yeets it self back to the afterlife where he is literally the guy in charge of everything.
Such is the power of Nagash
Thank you so much for this episode, it was the best overall explanation of aos ive found so far. Already spreaded it to my friends
damn...i was lost by the end, great podcast!
The godbeast is like a house contractor and sigmar just happens to have a few million dollars in his bank account to buy a realm to live in.
DaPhrog for new channel guest!?!?!? 🤯🤯🤯
Probably not
I now know more about -Norse- Sigmar mythology
The whole ‘worlds die in a cycle where chaos inevitably win’ immediately put me off AOS lore, especially after only recently getting into fantasy. Either way, fantasy fireside is always superb. Can’t wait until the next one.
Uhh that is fantasy.... chaos wins and end times destroys all. AoS is chaos already won and now trying to reclaim the realms away from chaos
@@dannyward4385 I’m just not really a fan of the trope of the whole ‘everything is doomed to repeat’ if that makes sense. The fact the AOS is like the magical exception I guess kinda dissuaded me. Though I did enjoy Colin’s explanation of the world, even if I didn’t really vibe with the lore itself 👍
Yeah it’s called Warhammer, This is GrimDark, the good guys don’t always win.
Just bought a bunch of old stormcast v nighthaunt starter sets and it was amazing building them and listening to this! More fireside chats please! Fantasy or AoS

Great job Colin for the casual lore video, I liked how it all was explained. Nice touch of the fire noises.

Sorry to hear that mate
If the realm of fire is all volcanic and ashen, then I wonder if it offers some sort of reprieve in the form of natural hot springs.
If you ever read any Soulbound about Aqshy it is not just volcanic and ashes. It also contains jungle, forests, swamps just predominately in the middle where the Great Parch is it is volcanic and arid etc just those forests are distinct in they have different fauna than a tropical forest in Ghryan.
Think of it this way. The more towards the center of the Realm you are, the more stable and familiar the landscape usually is. There might be still some magical phenomena scattered around, but in general it can actually be closer to just an ordinary environment. However, the more you move towards a Realm's edge, often hundreds to thousands of miles outwards, the Realm's lands begin to manifest more of their raw energy, with evermore crazy landscapes the further out you go.
@@dannyward4385yeah, as 1d4chan puts it, the realms just significantly encourage the element to occur and give it's own spin on things. While in Aqshy the forests are going to be much more suited for arid climates, with hardiness to match, the woods of Shyish are full of deadwood and quite weak, and the plants in Ghur would probably just eat you lmao.
I just bought my first AoS minis like two months ago - I found the Dominion box on Amazon for $100 - and I’m blown away at how much more detailed and awesome the AoS minis are when compared to most of my 40K minis. Just the Dominion box models - Yndrasta and the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof in particular - are freaking amazing. Even the more ‘DPS-ish’ minis for the Orruks and Scaven and the rest look fantastic. Yeah, many 40K minis look awesome, but those are typically the kinda expensive to really expensive ones like a Primarch or Daemon Primarch like Mortarion.
I’ve already told my local shop to order me the 4th edition box as soon as it goes on pre-sale and I’m looking forward to putting them together!
Edit: this was a great video, and I’d love to hear more. Have you guys discussed more since this posting?
The ‘Lifequake’ is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever heard of. That I could somehow violate all laws of biology and become pregnant is nightmare-fuel. I’m willing to bet that it was a woman who came up with that! 🤣
Explains something as clearly as possible.

1:52:00 the Realm of Light has the Blood Dragons from Far Cry 3, you can't change my mind
I'm still salty about how Fantasy died and AoS got into it's place. But Collin has been making me dilute that salt so I can enjoy a bit of AoS.
I try to imagine the realms being more ike planes of existence like the material planes from Pathfinder/DnD
Loved the vid, Hoping to see more AoS!!

Man PNW is going to be slightly disappointed when he gets to the last three Gotrek books.
This has done much to make AoS cool
AoS had a rough 1st edition and it has really come into its own since then
The troops Sigmar has (Storm cast eternals) should’ve had thrors storm breaker half axe half hammer would’ve been more cool to see especially since they got a giant ass shield but I guess that’s what there sword is for
There is a model with basically that weapon.
@@riokollivier damn that’s nice wonder of its one handed and a two handed version too but guessing if it’s two then the shield and sword would probably be gone or only sword would stay
58:10 so was Balthasar Gelt the sexiest man alive (too soon) for Pancreas?
I've personally found the easiest way to describe Age of Sigmar is "Games Workshop's attempt to do Planescape", assuming you're talking to somebody who is familiar enough with Dungeons & Dragons to know what Planescape is.
Given recent Old World reveals, I think we can all agree that Fantasy Fireside: Bretonnia is needed
AoS’s “map” seems to be inspired from Norse mythology and Yggdrasil. Each realm is on a different branch of nebulous size, but they’re all connected by a main trunk.
HASHUT HASHUT HASHUT! DARR KHARAZ-ANGRAV DAWI-ZHARR!
I genuinely do not know what to comment but I also want to comment on every lorecrimes video because warhammer channels need more contribution type channels between content creators so ugh. I guess this'll do. Maybe I'll look into Age of Sigmar scaling for the next Fantasy Fireside
age of sigmar more like age of sigbad
got ‘em
*snaps finger* dayummm
Personally, I imagine each one has its own moon. Except for Ghur. It only has a moon when the Bad Moon is around, which isn't always.
With all my heart, I want to believe in the success of *Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin* RTS computer game.
There is a heavy burden on the developers: they have to do the same thing that Dawn of War 1 once did for 40,000 - show everyone how Warhammer is really cool.
So now, for the love of Sigmar, all my best wishes to all who love Sigmar!
Who does the art for the podcast?
If all of the AoS gods are the last survivors of the World That Was, wouldn't it be funny if one of them was just some random guy called Bob the Hermit, or something?
I would definitely like more AoS content.
Currently exactly halfway through but I think I have to finally comment about this.
In the future, please tone down references to everything else :[
It's quite difficult to follow the video when it gets cut every 10 seconds to talk about a movie, a song, a book, etc. completely unrelated to the main topic.
Edit: seems to have gotten better in the second half generally, which I'm ofc glad for, but I'll still leave this up because I really like your videos and would like them to keep being easy to listen to in the future.
Huh... the stuff about the Stormcast souls, and how the realms work, becoming primal/elemental towards the edges remind me of Exalted, more than anything...
The Fantasy-AoS lore transition is like taking your old-and-loved 98 camry that you've driven since you were 16, and it's kinda starting to shit out on you, so you finally trade it into the dealership after like 30 years, and the dealership salesman shoots you in the forehead.
Absolute dogshit, top 3 blunders in GW history.
Source for the lifequake?
Broken Realms Kragnos
In which G&F book happens that Thanquol episode? 🤔
The stormcast are kind of like necron space marines
I feel like the lack of real geographical definition in Age of Sigmar has not helped it. It's harder to get invested in the world if you have problems even understanding what it looks like.
1:57:15
All Mpreg fanfic writers everywhere: ~A whole new woooooorld... a new fantastic point of view...~
Actually, GW DID in fact win against Disney/marvel when marvel copied both Bolt Pistols and a Tau Hover Tank. In EXACTING details.
And this was before AOS was released.
So in Gyran... MPREG is canon?
To Mr. Nowork, I've just recently gotten into AOS, and I'm really enjoying it so far. Is there any way we could get a faction breakdown? I'd love to get a good feel for these but unlike 40k there's not a lot of content that conveys the information in both an enternatining and informative way. (Your Do or Don'ts are great, but I don't see a lot of AOS love in general)
2+ tough really has the market cornered on AoS faction overviews.
your videos are awesome but you guys gotta fix the mics unless it's something on my end
Probably mentioned before, but in the new Gotrek books, they state it was like 30 or 40 years since Sigmar opened the gates.
Any human or elf faction that has units on the tabletop that are primarily firearm wielding infantry. I've seen in some Warhammer total war videos that some exist in that game. I have nothing against a fantasy setting but I do like guns lol. I'm talking about basic infantry or elite infantry units whose primary weapons are like rifles or muskets or something like that. Anything?
The theme of AOS is cool with ever evolving plot and story. However i prefer the Old World and low fantasy to the world shattering destruction that happens in AOS all the time. For 40K the Devastation of Baal and Dante series is not matched by anything in AOS for story, also the Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Tanith First and Only are all series that just show have so much depth. The Seige of Terra series is also amazing. The new crime series and horror series are adding great depth thats not just Astartes.
@@arcahmwinters70 I didn't say they didn't but they are not as many good ones. But that is normal when its the same writing staff and 30 years more lore for 40K. For some they prefer AOS which is fine but I am explaining why most still prefer 40K.
Its no rules bloat that 9th edition 40K was... Though there's obvious power creep happening in AoS lately.
Amber King my beloved, thanks to him I can no longer see Mephiston's old name without his voice in my head going *C A L I S T A R I U S*
More like Age of SUGMAR BALLS!!!
This post was made by Nagash Gang.
The age of chaos lasted 500 years
Is dying technically a realmgate that transports you to Shyish in AoS?
No, you can live in Shyish, there are mortal cities there. The underworld is in Shyish, but it’s not all of Shyish. It’s weird. The way I see it, all souls, aside from Stormcast, are connected to Shyish, but they all go to a specific part of it that Nagash set apart. I think anyway, don’t take my words as gospel.
Nagash is just a stronger Dry Bones from Mario, change my mind.
Maybe it's just me but it doesn't sound like AoS's nature lends itself to enjoyable story telling. Sounds great as a backdrop for a wargame though which is the intent.
It's just hearing primarily about the scale, power level and hearing "it's whatever the story needs it to be." Makes the character struggles sound like they solved by plot convivence rather than the logical plot progression.
The grand story is certainly at that level and yet there are stories that scale it back into digestible tales. The story called Dark Harvest is a really good horror story set in the realm of Ghyran. Call of Archaon also gives a good glimpse into the drives of Chaos champions and the desire to serve in the Varanguard
Well you’d be dead wrong then, there are so many grounded stories in Black Library for AoS. Read Godeaters Son or Prince Maesa.
I'll take both book recommendations and see how I like it.
