Most of people hate watching performers in Doordarshan. Many people are trying to make classical music interesting and you are the best of them. Great ...
I was born in the wrong side of the world. Although I love western classical music I find our temperament ´machine like´sounding when compared to this flexible and organic understanding of scales and natural relation between notes
From what I learned, it's basically laziness lol We didn't want to have to remember which keys have the best sounding intervals.... Kinda funny though. Because if we used Just intonation.... music would have such a unique sound in the western world ESPECIALLY for metal lol
@@ericchin739 Not at all lol. In just intonation notes that are very far from the fundamental sound awful and it makes modulation and complex tonal polyphony essentially impossible wich is pretty much what makes Western classical music unique and beautiful. Indian classical music is cool, but leave Western classical as it is, this is not a competition of traditions.
4. We also Admire how well you ask a question and derive answer. 5. And you know how to maintain the interest of your listeners. 6. You are Empowered with many other great qualities that it RARE. Congrats and BEST of LUCK to You 💐.
I love that you are both holding such a large diaphragm mic for this interview! Haha! I am loving these lessons. I am a jazz guitarist and learning about your deep musical culture is so inspiring. Thank you so much!
This is fascinating. I come from Scotland where pentatonics are prominent in our folk music & heard a lot of similarity with use of notes in Raag and Scottish folk music - although the interpretations are completely different. Your music focuses a lot more on the spaces around the notes than our music does.
look out for those condenser mics, they're unidirectional so one side works a LOT better than the other! This is the best explanation of raag I've found though and I have watched this many times over. Many blessings, thank you for making this!!!
I can't thank you enough..!!! I had been searching for such lucid explanations of Hindustani Classical music for quite a some time. I often listen to Indian classical/ semi-classical music despite having no clue about what's going on..!! This episode is very helpful. Truly you have opened a treasure for me. Thanks to Shuchita mam for practical illustrations. Thanks to you and wish you all the happiness...!!
Hi,Anuja, Your way of explatning Indian music is really very very helpful to the beginners of learning Indian music, your vedios are easy to understand. please keep on uploading in all ragas.giving the taal, and few examples in hindi songs including Ghazals , marathi songs Bhavgeet etc, thanks for your vedios.
Anuja, you've nailed it with your closing comment. I like listening to classical music occasionally but I've no clue what's going on, thanks to this amazingly informative "Classical music for dummies" videos, we can appreciate the performance and the performer even more. PS: In this day & age of "viral videos", your channel is a perfect "antidote".
Some people think that Indian Classical music is boring but your videos are surely helping them to overcome this misunderstanding. Very well done. God bless you
I love the way u end up ur episodes... Like" peace be with u".... And " Om Shanti"... Infact ur everything related to Indian classical music is awsm... Thnks always Anuja... And Subscribed..
Explanation is simple and good, but it is always good if the listener also knows about 'Raag'. it is then you can understand music along with enjoyment, that leads to creativity.
Hi Anuja, I don't have words to appreciate your effort, dedication and thought behind your work. I am not a student of music but always felt sorry for the classical music. It never get appreciation or support in normal person and unfortunately musicians never cared, your effort to make listener capable to enjoy and appreciate it is incredible. MANY MANY THANKS FOR MAKING LISTENER CAPABLE TO ENJOY. :)
What a pretty lil joy &treat you are for the eyes and for the ears and for yrs to come. I simply love the way you are presenting various snippets of ragas in the most creative way possible,by being that bundle of joy as well 🌹😘
Your personality is uniquely suited to explain the concepts. You don't need any senior professional help. The performance clips of seniors should only be used. Feeling sad that I didn't come across your excellent work earlier. Wishing you the best of everything that is Satyam Shivam Sundaram.
Thank you Anuja! God bless you! I am a 'Kansen' (keen listener) and not 'Tansen' (singer/artist/performer) of Hindustani Classical music. Your video clips are very helpful. This video clip has a lot of information and a bit overwhelming for a novice like me. Several concepts have been packed in 16 minutes! I will see this again and again till it registers in my mind!
Anuja, thanks a lot! I love classical music a lot but I hardly understand a raga or the concept. You have educated me a lot. I enjoy listening to you. And the other thing is, a couple of my friends when heard you, they were just amazed. So, I would request everyone reading this comment that please do forward the videos of Anuja so that some one like me or my friends may enjoy more!

Hi Anuja, I am very thankful to the AI of youtube for introducing me to your channel at the right time just when I needed it badly. "Thanks" will be mere a simple word for expressing my feelings towards your teaching. You have given me a new perspective in hindustani classical music. I am just trying to restart my music life once again. I am really inspired. God bless you ustaad. 😊
Very nice Anuja jee. You are touching those parts of the classical music which hardly any teacher from a musical gharana would reveal to their students.
Hats off to anuja kamat for attaining such high understandig of indian classical vocal music wonder how she was deleted from SaReGaMa in2009 by suresh wadkar she has realy overcome the defeat
I came across your videos by chance and now i don't want to stop watching them! You are doing fanatic job in explaining everything and, please, keep up the good job. Not only you know your stuff, but have a charming video personality to go with it. You will go very far for sure. Good luck!
Anuja, Ma'am is superb.... I do not have words to express my gratitude to you and her. She is marvelous. I have been touched by her simplicity and humility and above all her vast knowledge. Keep it up. When I come to India, which I do yearly, I should definitely meet both of you depending upon your availability. Are you in Mumbai? Haribol

Thank you so much. I have needed these informations, and nicely paced videos so I can get basics and move forward with vocal and instrument training. I even came to India for 6 months and still not get the basics in a way that I can fully absorb. I love this so much! Your sincere Kalyanii shanti shanti shantih.
Excellent.... just like to know what it all meant for years, right from my school years....thank you Anuja kamat and your guide... nutshell as a common man would want
With extensive practice with appropriate training and knowledge of swara, everyone has beautiful voice But has different bases. We have many great legends who don’t seem too have great voices but their singing are uniquely awesome like Bhupen Hazarika, S D Burman etc. They realized their starting Notes.
This is obvious of course, but your teacher has a really beautiful voice. May you continue to learn to the best of your ability, and may you never give in to too much pride.
Thanks a bunch. Very beautifully explained. All of these were mysteries for me but at the back of my mind wanted to know these. Thanks again for putting together such a wonderful introduction. You yourself sing so well. Good Luck.
Anuja, am so glad that you are doing these videos at your tender age.. Please do a episode on how Raagas are connected with chakras as well.. All the best and god bless !!
Thank you for making this series in English. Although I'm a Hindi speaker I was never interested in learning Indian music because the language around it felt inaccessible and therefore irritating. It is so refreshing to be able to relate to the info. Being a more patient adult helps too, haha :)
hi anuja... I am a flute learner... I have no words to thank you regarding the videos you presented... I am slowly learning many things from your videos... I wish I could leave my academic career to learn classical music... I will be highly grateful if you kindly post something on making sargam palta-s based on ragas... another thing you can post is the creation of musical scales and how they are interconnected with each other... let me give one example is that I can sing in B-flat and my table is tuned to E... No thanks again because you have enriched my knowledge... grateful to you...
Anuja your partner sings so very beautifully. I didn’t want her to stop . Wish she could sing more . How long has she been learning sangeet ? I wish I can also sing like her in time to come . God willing 🙏
Hello Anuja ji ap classical music aur other forms ko jis tarah se explain karte that was really awesome....bohot kam sunne ko milta hai aise tutorials.....😊
Hi, This is indeed a great series. It would be nice, if you can do an episode on how one can develop the sense of recognising swaras being sung. Thanks for the good work. Looking forward to more episodes. :)
Arunkumar M Thanks a lot! Deciphering the notation of a composition is like deciphering the spelling of a word. It requires training of a specific manner. You might try to rote learn the notations of commonly heard phrases. Also beginning by rote learning the notations of a bandish/ song might help. Your mind must be thorough with the distance of swaras with each other. Only then will it be able to recognise the swaras :)
Thanks to Anuja Kamath for making a difficult subject of classical music to a common man who is interested in Indian classical music to understand theorical aspect as well as demonstrating the basic swarms, meaning of some terminologies.
I wish this program could be launched for a wider TV audience as well, and not be limited to CZcams viewers only.

not really, it's more about making transposed chords have the same sound quality as their untransposed counterparts and making key changes more fluent
