  • With the carburettor set and the timing adjusted the Bullet is now starting from cold with choke correctly and settling quickly into a consistent and reliable tickover off choke once warmed up, throttle pickup is snappy and clean and shut off results in little to no run on.

    Thankyou.
Not sure on the if or when for that as both time and money aren't great due to unexpected personal things.
It may well be sold shortly much as i'd like to keep and use it.
If, however it is, Theres always the chance to get another in the future and now I know them pretty well to boot. :)

I have recently fitted Amal mk1 concentric 26mm carb on my 1984 350cc Royal Enfield I am having trouble on the carb when idling coz its not stable the engine goes off sometimes as it’s throw back fuel in carb any possible teach me how to tune the carb
    Thanks

Madeswari V If it's spitting fuel back into the carb then the first thing you need to check is valve clearences and ignition timing. Once you know they're in the right area you should be able to get factory settings for your carb and you can tune your idle from there with the fuel/air mixture screw and idle screw to get the smoothest possible, to tune the main jet and needle position, the old fashionened way is to do a plug chop, (google plug chop and you'll find reams of how to notes).
An easier way if you can get one is to use a Gunson Colortune which allows you to see the flame colour in your combustion chamber.
There's no quick and easy explanation though.

i have a classic 350cc enfield its single cylinder 4stroke twinspark...
what it should be set on the tachometer like 01 RPM or 02 RPM ????
01 for (spark plug fires twice per revolution)
    02 (once per revolution)
    03 (every other revolution)
04 (hour only will not display rpm)
the default for the sandard model is 02 (once per revolution)
i am confused on what to set it 01 or 02 ?

Assuming you mean an aftermarket tachometer?
I'm not sure I fully understand but there should be instructions with it advising how to set it for single vs multi cylinder bikes.
If it picks up the electrical signal from the ht circuit then 02 sounds like it should be correct.
If you mean the idle rpm then somewhere around 1000rpm is where it should be.

Hi. I see that your Enfield is not vibrating when engine is running. Not even slightly. Did you do anything about it? If yes, I would like to know what it is. Thank you.

      @spidiq8  Před 7 lety

Nothing in particular, just set up the valve clearances, ignition timing and plug gap and carburettor.
      Standard service items.
It did vibrate though it didn't noticeably bounce about at idle.
Is yours the 350 or 500 model?

I have a 1987 std 350. It does not vibrate annoyingly. But it vibrates a little bit.

Success Training Institute I'm not sure what to suggest other than giving it a full service and making sure everything is set to spec, mine did vibrate despite it not looking that way, though not excessively or uncomfortably, I'd recommend checking and setting the carb also and setting it a little rich rather than lean or spot on as fhe iron barrel can retain a lot of heat and encourage pre ignition which could make it vibrate more noticeably.

      Hi Spidiq,
I have to kick at least four times in the morning to start the bike. When it starts, it runs smoothly. When I start the bike again soon after killing the engine, it starts in a single kick without trouble. But gives me trouble in starting after it is parked for some hours.

I am sure that the solution to this starting issue is with the carburettor. Please give your ideas. It will be very helpful. And my name is Kalai. From India.

Vishal Satav The barrel and head do get very hot, is it something you're concerned about? affecting the running?
