That was a great idea to repurpose and make beautiful gifts! With ModPodge, it’s been my experience that the best way to avoid bubbles is to apply wet surface to wet surface: Apply Mod Podge to the block, then add a layer to the back of the picture. Then you can add extra ModPodge to the top.
Fantastic craft, Steph! You do a very good job with repairs and crafts. You are a great family oriented person too. Dats why I love you and Steve! You could decoupage script from magazines or create your own script on your computer and cut them out and go the mod podge on the stool as well?!?! Old solid wood dresser, painted whole thing white then mod podge fabric on drawers, I did use kilz on drawers first so no old stain bled through (farmhouse looking fabric) you could do it with anything, I’ve seen people use really pretty paper napkins before on furniture.

Best craft I ever did, used front of gold/black Christmas card I received. I mod podged it, trying to match my strokes with that on card. On piece of wood, I glued black velvet type material, after drying, mod podged card to velvet, being very careful. I rested it on an easel. Best way to put names on blocks? Find a friend that can do it. The is no way I could do it myself, and I’ve been a scrapbooker over 25 years

I love crafting, it takes your mind off everything else. Dumpster diving illegal here so unfortunately I have to buy my crafting supplies 😢. Those cubes look lovely Steph, I’m sure the parents will be delighted with them, lovely things to look back on over the years.
Dollar Tree has rub-on letters, in several fonts and sizes. They also have stencils in different fonts and sizes. You could ModPodge over the top, after you get the new baby’s print, to keep you from picking off the rub-on letters and protect the paint of the foot prints.

Not sure if anyone's suggested it yet...but you can get font in rub-on transfers. They don't leave any raised edges. Rub on...seal the whole surface with any kind of sealer....done. =)
They make paint pens..its acrylic paint in a marker type...or a fabric marker may work also if you put a clear coat of Paint over it...the clear coat would also preserve the foot prints longer.. just a suggestion..
Those cubes turned out wonderful. As far as the stool goes, I would find someone who does hand lettering or calligraphy. Because if I was doing the writing I wouldn’t trust myself. Love the decorations in the background of the video.🎄

Hey Steph! You can use stickers for the names, then modpodge over when your done. It will protect the letters and paint, to not peel. I love to craft. If you still have bubbles when they dry, iron them on the box with no steam. The best way to do it is to put the modge podge on the wood and let it dry, then iron the picture on the box. It reactivates the glue. Merry CHRISTmas to you guys and keep up the good work

Very creative and cute idea with the blocks. They will be cherished. As far as the stool, you could just print out your letters on a printer and mod podge. That way you can chose what font you want, etc. I do like the others' ideas of creating your own stencil on a Cricut. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas with your family. ❤🎄
If you very lightly mist the back of the picture then apply it to the mod podge on the box you won't get the bubbles. Plus you can also put a piece of plastic wrap over the picture when you smooth it out and rub the plastic with your fingers, you won't get bubbles either.

The photo stays on the block as you remove the paper. Then, you coat with more hodge podge. This looks way easier. I'll have to try it.

I just refinished a dresser using mod podge and farmhouse fabric on drawers. It’s so easy and fun to work with on almost anything.

Use the cricut, and put a resin overlay over the top of the whole stool.
Steph, you could use a stencil . The cricut can make you a stencil that will stick to the wood, then you can paint it and peel the stencil off .
I love those boxes, so cute, Im a resin artist, so I would go one more step and resin them, but I love to resin everything, lol

That’s a good idea! With chalk paint I will put the wax on top but I think something sturdier might be needed 😄
