If you make content you are passionate about the views will follow. I don’t get blaming the truck for not spiking views. Likely less folks in the market have the Silverado ZR2 for many reasons.

I’d absolutely like to see you get a 2023 Colorado and mod it similarly to your previous one. Your interim plan makes good sense, especially if you can come out slightly ahead on your current Silverado. Your channel keeps getting better. I’m sure you’ll figure things out and succeed.
I Agree with your idea. Getting an L5P Duramax would be some good content. Delete it. Level it, RDS turbo, Tuner, HSP or WCfab pipe kit and you're well on your way ! 👍

“I am not saying I am putting it for sale.” I think you may be getting one of the new Colorado ZR2s. Although, I think they are going to be pretty expensive. I don’t think Chevy did quite as good on the Silverado ZR2 as they did on the Colorado. I think more people off road the mid-size trucks (Colorado/Canyon, Gladiator, Tacoma…) more than they do the full size trucks. A full size truck on a trail or small road in the mountains is not fun.

Just a thought what about a 3.0L diesel 1500 Silverado. Make sure its the first generation 3.0L. I've heard the lz0 has too much emission junk on it.what do u think.

I like the Silverado ZR2 and enjoy the modding. But no one is buying one at $73k and then adding thousands of $$$ to mod it. So I feel like its lost on the viewers. If you decide to get a new truck again I'd go with a Silverado LZO Duramax Trail Boss or Colorado ZR2/GMC ATX4. Till then I'd go with what you said.

not gonna lie man, i spent 50k on my 22' colorodo zr2 bison (diesel) because of the cool stuff you were doing. right after i buy it and get it home you announce a Silverado purchase. i kinda stopped watching after the 3rd or 4th mod fail video... tough to watch the frustration. hopefully your next endeavor works out man

I joined your channel for the E36. The one thing I like about you videos is that you are very honest and straight foward good or bad. All the haters are just that haters and aren't doing anything that gets views or entertaining us the way you do buddy! I don't watch for the truck videos but have nver missed on mainly because your content is top shelf and entertaining. Your editing skills have become sensational!!! Being a former 911 owner and a current e36 M3 owner I will be here for them and honestly any content you put out. Keep up the great work.

Why not buy a basic Silverado 4x4 crew cab and modify it to add value? Its kind of like a blank canvas in which to paint a masterpiece.
Love my ZR2 but I bought it with no extra expectations to a regular Silverado so I’m very happy with it. I do sell vehicles, if I get any L5P HC I’ll reach out.

Yup, waiting is a good idea.
Even if you did the long travel and fenders you'd need to supercharge it. It just doesn't stack up to the other trucks out there right now with the stock power. So add another 10K to that 30K at least. A new Colorado or Canyon would be cool to get next year to mod. Personally I'm waiting for the LZO 3.0 Diesel.
Sorry you don't need no bolt on supercharger. That 6.2 HP/TQ will do the job and does in several race trucks. If you want more out of it. It's regearing to lower gears with larger tires and get more out of the TQ.

I just came back from a 2015 high country and man I miss that saddle brown interior and the collision detect sensor system and everything with the features for the year were and still are amazing just said bye a couple months ago :(

Getting your money back should be easy. My 2020 ZR2 has the gas motor and less than 13k miles in 28 months, can't get the dealer to leave me alone. They always want to buy it back for $6k more than I paid for it.
I got 71.5 for it. Not too shabby!

I would also say on the side a cool diesel jdm van option since it’s completely unusual for you and has cool options. Think a Delica 4x4 diesel or a Toyota hi ace or town ace. Those are 10k vehicles and will bring views in combo with a duramax.
I came for the Porsche and the E36, i am a jeep guy who loves building them, but chevy trucks are boring especially new ones. get something a bit older and a bit cheaper then put the extra cash you have into doing a bad ass build. IMO a newer used Supra build would be sweet. But if you're into a truck I personally ain't into the truck builds uneless its a full on frame up custom build. Although a Ford Ranger build would spark my views for sure.
Good thoughts there. Though I'm not a big fan of the new Supras.

@Matt Ross if you can find a high country 2020 duramax hd with the saddle brown interior i'd go for it. not sure if they offer those in glacier blue though. the closest blue i could find is the deep ocean blue metallic
I'm a 1500 (GM AT4) owner myself and they are pricey and modding it would look awesome but the Duramax is a Duramax.. can't go wrong as long as you put similar tires that you have on the ZR2 not the low profile tires (it's a 4x4 not a lowrider). that's my OP.
I just received my 2022 ZR2 and I love it!! Got it completely loaded and everything works. I was GMS so I didn't pay near 73k for it.

I ordered the 2023 Silverado Zr2 but my order haven’t been accepted yet by GM and I seen they had a 5% constraint on the truck does that mean it’s very likely I’ll get my order accepted? I really hope not.

They are supposed to be coming out with a updated version of the 3 l Duramax called the lzo to replace the lm3. I would definitely want to know more about that because I am thinking about getting rid of my 6.2 and to get that engine. It's supposed to be on the 2023s

To be honest I discovered your channel with the Porsche videos but because I enjoyed the content and format so much I started watching your other videos in between even though I don't really have any interest in the BMWs or trucks. Despite this I've gone back and watched every episode. I also ordered some merch. Anyway what I've found to be the popular channels on CZcams are ones where the cars involved have very large enthusiast communities. I realize that almost every type of car has large communities but it seems to me that VAG cars (mostly VW, Audi & Porsche) for some reason attract more interest in both online content (chat groups / forums / CZcams) but also in meets and cruise days. The other group is JDM cars (mostly Nissan, Toyota, Mazda & Honda). Just my 2 cents!
That sucks about the view counts but I understand and you would enjoy the Diesel as that's more your flavor and I will miss the ZR2 because the 6.2 gas is what I bought because that's my preference. I did save by getting it in a Trail Boss but I don't have the upgraded suspension either. Good luck!
Everyone seems to love the duramax. It’s such a popular and desired option. I don’t understand why it’s so poplar. It seems to be better on gas mileage but it’s also a lot more per gallon at the pump.
The power, the sounds, the tuning and endless mods, love them!
Yes, you'll pay more at the pump but you'll still have far great fuel savings overall, due to the incredible mileage it gets compared to the 6.2. Additionally, it is certainly far better built and far more reliable than both the 5.3 and 6.2 v8s.
I just stumbled on this channel, second video I have seen and I absolutely appreciate the honesty in the reason for you getting this truck. The clout chasing in the auto youtube sphere is annoying but at least you are honest about it!

Try a GM/Chevy 1500 with the 3.0 duramax since you seem to be motivated by diesels and make it into a decent 4x4 that gets decent mileage and doesn’t handle like a 2500, like a trail boss/ ZR2 hybrid

Few options I'd consider.. keep it but push the Porsche content while you wait for colorado or canyon (I prefer the canyon over the Colorado for this gen).Or sell it, get another project, whatever it is, duramax is fine by me!
Either way I'll watch, I like your channel but the ZR2 as good looking as it is is not drawing in viewers, seems to be the main concensus on CZcams about this truck. Also agree that mid size is where it's at! (Love them even though I got a trailboss 😅🤦 will eventually go back to one in a year or 2)

I really liked the Colorado videos because it was a bit of an underdog. Having such a small diesel it was cool to see what you could do to it as far as power goes and other things you did to make it better. Didn’t hurt that I have one also.
The new 3.0 diesel would be interesting. This is a truck I would love to have.

People just want what’s hot but I would focus on where the market is going. I think it’s heading in the direction of everyday savings like a diesel truck can provide or a good used option. Value per money spent should be the goals in 22-23’ something the Porsche provides.
Hey Matt Ross I feel your pain bud. I have an idea. What about turning a durty max into a trial boss/Zr2? You could do it with a hd2500 or the little durty max engine you can get for a 1500! That would be cool and cheaper of a truck
I believe the midsize truck market is where its at. Ordered me a new Tacoma TRD: OR in 6spd man. Canyons, Colorados, Tacoma, etc. Just seems to be the route
You may be true, the new Colorado ZR2 won't be out for a while though, so it's not a current option.

I think if you bought a 2022 chevy Silverado or GMC 1500 with the new interior and a Duramax 3.0 diesel. Then you moded that to make a ZR2 with a diesel like GM should have offered that would get a lot of views. I love the 6.6 Duramax but I think they have been around in one variation or another along with so many other CZcamsrs with that context you’ll be lost in the crowd. Thoes baby Duramaxs are something special.
I have literally had dozens of Gm trucks including 4 zr2 colorados a silverado zr2 and a couple long travel silverado prerunners. And a couple mid travel. I loved them all ! I bought a silverado zr2 5 months ago. I sold it last week. Utter disappointment for me. I jumped ship and ordered a 23 Raptor. Chevrolet currently has no idea what consumers want and really don't give customers a way to voice what they think.

I just started watching your channel. I just got a ZR2 and I think part your problem these trucks are hard to find. I had ordered a Trail Boss with everything I wanted but now GM is holding back some of the items I wanted for my Trail Boss so I would have to settle for less or wait for next year when the parts (supposedly) will be available. Well a ZR2 came in the to my dealership the 2nd one in over a month and it was ordered one where the guy failed to get approved on his loan. I love this truck I am getting use to it but I haven't seen another on the road and I live in the Austin area. Either way I enjoyed your ZR videos

That’s part of the reason I love my ZR2, because before this I had the white trail boss and everyone and their cousin had one. Businessmen who have never been off road in their life which is fine, buy what you want but I couldn’t go one day without

Buy a 16-19 and do a full long-arm coilovers bypasses bumps bedcage wide body driveway built, pre-runner build. Thousands of these 1500’s on the road and you’d get massive views if promoted properly.

Honestly what brought me to your channel was the fact you had the Duramax in it and you were modding it. If you bought a Silverado with the 3.0 Duramax I would be more interested. The ZR2 is just so ridiculous expensive I don’t care to watch any content on it. Your videos are very well done I love to watch you workin on the vehicles, Love the Porsche content!
Problem is, you can't mod the 3.0 Duramax, which makes it no fun for me.

Since your a GM guy, I would consider any L5P pre 10 speed. I still don’t trust the 10 speeds yet. Side note, my ZR2 Colorado blew up with 57000 miles on it, untuned and I was religious on maintenance. While I waited for Chevy to fix the Colorado, I considered waiting on the zr2 Silverado as an upgrade. The problem I had was the price you paid for what you got. This all happened when truck prices went through roof. I ended up buying a 5th gen ram 1500 because they were running 0% interest and they had one on the lot.
Long story longer, I don’t think there is a new truck worth what they are asking.

an l5p build would be sweet but if you get a 2020+ duramax I would wait for the 2023 model year sense the HD trucks will get the updated interior.
I DO want to get a 2023 (or2024 probably) with the new interiors. That's what stopped me from getting one now, the old interiors SUCK!
@@matt13ross Yeah and I also read that the l5p is going to get a boost in horse power and torque. I don't know if its true or not but it would make sense because the current l5p came out in 2017 so it is time for a refresh.
I think for that price you could buy two old trucks and I think people would be more likely to watch because they're trying to fix up old trucks

Off roading videos don't get great views. Plus, the off road places around me honestly aren't much fun. Too tight, slow moving, etc.

All the big truck CZcamsrs were at a media event for the new Colorado last week/weekend. Looks like an awesome truck. But I will keep my 2017 Z-71 CCLB Duramax Colorado.

There just aren't that many people interested in a slightly souped up Trail Boss. Chevy continues to fail in the high-end truck segment.

New subscriber from the Porsche content. Wanted to offer some feedback because you seem to be looking for answers on what kind of content will help you expand your channel. I was drawn in by the Porsche videos, but not because I give a crap about Porsches. I like the "I bought this pile of shit, and I'm figuring out everything that's wrong with it, and trying to fix it." content that you've made. You have an excellent, accessible presence (you're obviously immensely talented mechanically) but it's still accessible and entertaining to a shmoe like me. I'm even more engaged by the struggle. "Well, let's try this... here goes. Well, nope, that didn't fix it". It's relatable.
I'm not especially drawn in by a guy buying an expensive top of the line truck and bolting some things on to make it even more over the top. There's lots of that out there. It's fair to say that sure, there's lots of "guy fixing car" channels out there too, but with the Porsche you made progress on it and made it entertaining to watch. The LS swap BMW build was fairly unique. I'm not saying ditch the truck content (I'm guessing the algorithm brought you to me because I was looking up videos on how to alter something on my own Silverado). Perhaps just temper expectations on having a new truck carry a whole channel's content. This isn't a bad thing. I bet a decent amount of your new viewers are like me. I'm interest in the vehicle if it's interesting, but I'm clicking on your videos to watch YOU wrench on them, not cuz it's a Silverado.
Here are some ideas. Not totally literal, but examples of the kind of content that I mean:
-I bought this POS 2018 Silverado 1500 Work Truck with a blown engine, and I'm turning it into something amazing with my skill and the local pick-a-part (and sell it).
-Look at this barn find Baja Trophy Truck. I'm going to make it amazing (and sell it).
-The new electric F150 costs way too much. I'm taking this old one and putting a Tesla engine and battery pack in it (and sell it?).
-The BMW i3 is body-on-frame (who knew?!?). I'm buying this one and doing this crazy body swap!
You make good points. I think me sticking with older vehicles and working on them would be better than trying to mod a brand new one.
I have the 1500 rst 3.0 duramax and its been a nightmare also i dropped everything i had in this truck and im so frustrated with it

Did you ever take the Zr2 off road? I would have loved to see the ZR2 with stock wheels on 35s.
Not this one, no.
There are several successful CZcamsrs using this truck. I am one who started following when you got the Silverado ZR2. The problem wasn't the truck, itself. The problem was the non stop tons of content creators putting out nonstop videos bashing the ZR2 because it wasn't enough like the TRX and F-150 Raptor. It made too many people biased. It is something I observed.
I think GM with this ZR2 filled a HUGE void left by the Raptor and TRX. The market desperately needed a normal size half ton that is crazy capable, off road, but can fit on normal trails. If people would have just let the ZR2 be its own thing, you'd have done awesome with it.

A Bronco Raptor will do well for you for sure! I don't regret the things I said about the ZR2. It's priced the same as a Raptor, but is way less capable and cool. I think if it was 60K, maybe 65k, it would be fine.
@@matt13ross Well tbf, the Multimatic shocks aren't cheap, it has a V8 and V8s come at a premium, adding to the price of vehicles, especially now. Also, diff locking technology adds to the price of vehicles, and the ZR2 has 2. If Ford used a V8 in the base Raptor, it would be more expensive. The Raptor has a much smaller and much disliked smaller V6 ecoboost. Of course it can sell cheaper.
That being said, the ZR2 is not the same price as a Raptor lol. I just Googled it and Raptors are more expensive. Given the price of other premium half tons, and all the tech on the ZR2, plus it having a proper V8, the ZR2 has a very fair price.
The ZR2 isn't even on the list of top 5 most expensive half tons, but the Raptor is.😑

I'm not biased at all, I love Chevy. Have always and will always own a Chevy truck. I just know their faults, and the ZR2 fell way short. Of course, this is only my opinion. If the truck had true long travel and was widebody for about the same price, I'd have no problems with the price.

My point here is the ZR2 was not made to compete with the Raptor, in any capacity. The Raptor was NOT benchmarked in creating the ZR2. So all you CZcamsrs relentlessly bashing this beautiful ZR2 "because the Raptor performance this - Raptor price that" have done nothing but damage to an excellent truck brand
Even now, you are STILL trying to force it to be a Raptor competitor. It doesn't need a wide body stance, because it is NOT a Baja truck, Raptor, TRX competitor. It is competing with trucks like the RAM Rebel, F150 Tremor, Tundra TRD models and is more capable than all of them, having the added front locker, as well the rear, and having expensive, highly advanced Formula 1 technology, in the form of the Multimatic DSSV shocks. The price is definitely reasonable. I remember how much my husband paid for a fully loaded Ram Rebel
You having a problem with the price is a personal problem, and not grounded in facts.
I know the over price MSRP of a ecoboost (lol) V6, F-150. I know the MSRP of the proper V8 Silverado ZR2. It is NOT the same price as the Raptor, as you claimed. It is a cheaper, even considering the advanced technology on it. 2 diff lockers, state of the art Formula One shock technology, by Multimatic, plus other great off road technology and best of all, a proper V8.... Yup! The ZR2 definitely has a reasonable price, all things considered.
Your problem is that you only see in black and white and like every other CZcamsr have relentlessly bashed the ZR2, because of things the unrelated Raptor can do. It is NOT a Raptor competitor. Chevy NEVER said it was going to be. It is competing with the RAM Rebel and Ford F-150 Tremor, and is more capable than both of its competitors, having more state if the art, very advanced F1 shock technology, a segment first, TWO locking differentials among other advanced features. It is priced exactly as it should be.
