    Really enjoyed watching this and used to go to Rage to hear them. It’s a shame that they don’t mention that jungle came after hardcore. All the original jungle DJs played hardcore before jungle came about. It was hardcore that first used speeded up hip hop breakbeats and samples. Underground breakbeat hardcore is still alive and kicking in 2022. Respect is due to Fabio and Grooverider but I feel most of the big name Drum and Bass DJs fail to even acknowledge hardcore. If it wasn’t for breakbeat hardcore there would be no jungle or drum and bass.

    • @Noisesilo
      @Noisesilo Před 2 lety +1

      As with all history lessons, especially with a 4-5 year period packed into just over 13 minutes of interview, its easy to gloss over the more protracted route that the music took to get from house to jungle. I totally agree with you though, breakbeat hardcore, as its own genre, often gets massively overlooked, particularly the impact and influence of people like Shut Up and Dance. Not to mention the evolution of the sounds from breakbeat hardcore in 1990-1992 into darkside (92/93) into jungle (93-95) which led to splintering into so many different styles of music; drum and bass, techstep, liquid funk etc. I think the key takeaway is that the blending of breaks, speeding up of the bpm and ultimately removal of the 4/4 kick in place of a detuned 808 sub-bass didn't come from one source it was the contribution of DJ's speeding up or playing certain records at the wrong speed and producers from different musical backgrounds experimenting with samplers, incorporating other genres like ambient, dancehall, jazz, dub, reggae, soul, raregroove, IDM, disco and R and B into this bizarre melting pot of music that made something truly special.

      These two are legends, but they don't half seem to suck their own dick. The bigger, more influential names (especially producers) tend to be a lot more humble. - not taking away from what they've achieved just my opinion. The amount of times they said "let's remember that.." "let's not forget.." during the space of 10 minutes lol.

    It’s a shame the scene has been whitewashed. All I see now on the dancefloor is not who looks like me, whereas dubstep and Grime etc is us. Great to see Fab and Groove still stan firm but the rest of the scene, fix it up. Too many man, and white man, same with Techno and House. We started this ish, it was family vibes, now exclusivity because of the middle and upper class wasteman in the place

      Total rubbish about we started this, the early raves were full of white People fact is most of these raves that House and Techno were played at were mainly Gay events, So do you still claim that it was family vibes then?? Electronic dance music was started by White Europeans all the original house Pioneers openly say that European Electronic groups is who they were influenced by. Suburban bass and the Prodigy done more for Hardcore and Jungle than these two in the early days and they were all white kids from Essex. Think it’s disgusting that the race issue has to keep getting dragged into this……..move on ffs

    *dnb is stagnant now*
    I'm sorry but nothing has changed in 10 years still sounds the same. That's why Dubstep gave dnb a bloody nose for awhile. Dnb needs to evolve a bit.
