Like Normally i enjoy combat as much as any other part of an episode but i could deadass just watch these guys play fantasy tavern simulator for 4 hours and would be equally as happy
I've deadass been brainstorming ideas for a D&D campaign based on this 3-shot. A party of adventurers who retired young and bough a similar inn/tavern together.
Exactly
Yes! That would be amazing.
@@rehecke7124 takes the right party, gotta have totally non toxic, non power gamer, heavy RP players.
I want these characters and their restaurant struggles in my life forever.
I cannot overstate how I love the way Diven became the archvillain of these three shots - not by being a cultist or anything morbid like that but just by being a complete asshat. This series is so wholesome I could watch a 20 more episodes of just these rowdy bunch getting screwed in the restaurant industry every other episode.
Damn you Dayvon!!
to be fair, he WAS also a cultist. he just happened to stand out alot more as a shithead than he did a cultist.
but lets not sell the guy short here -.-
@@erbgorre I loved Diven the bureaucrat more than I loved Diven the cultist. Bad career change on his part.
This was a perfect example of how to do a multi-part short series. SO much more enjoyable than all of ExU, even at less than half the length
@@rayswift5711 I don't tjink it _was_ a career change. He had already gotten rid of the previous owners but the party got the inn and therefore the tunnels before he could get the property.
I think its underappreciated that they all did these three sessions in costume, that adds a lot imo
When the kitchen was being described I could feel a legendary Talesin line approaching, lo and behold, "Are you a demon?"
Are you a demon? Are you an angel?! Are you both!?!?!?!?
I'm just completely in love with the concept of following a bunch of chaotic people trying to run a restaurant.
This was such a blast!
"A bunch of chaotic people trying to run a restaurant."
Literally every restaurant ever. You can tell that all of these people have worked in food service because the "pit of complaints" is a thing that every single one of us has wished for.
This is just Goodburger but Skyrim
It's like they are all rping as the Gang from IASIP
@@cattalematt in the first or second when sam yelled to the kitchen "table two wants blah blah blah fire that blah blah" in a quick steady stream of ordering i was like holy ef he has suffered in this life
I love that a party of adventurers were so bad at their job that they opened a tavern and then kept getting pulled into adventures because their tavern just so happened to be built on a heck mouth. It really fits with this party's terrible luck.
I feel blessed to hear Liam O’Brien say the words ‘tall, strapping snack of a man’. 33:28
ESO should add the tavern with all their characters voiced by them to the game
I mean at this point theyd be missing out if they didnt. This is more canon to me then anything else XDXDXD
Completely agree!
They'd be fools, FOOLS, not to! There's a huge Critter audience out their waiting to be tapped, Bethesda! Give us the Sad Horse Inn & Tavern!
YES!!!
@@JOrtizArt the sad horse is such legit name!
I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I was more excited for this than the start of Campaign 3. I'm not sure I've ever fallen in love with a group of characters quite so fast. The three best CR one-shots ever.
I remember after episode 1, I saw the episode Elder Scrolls online with Laura and Liam and got super excited. Then very confused as none of the other characters were there lol! It didn't occur to me it wasn't part 2.
One of my favs. I love the Johnson space undeadwood DOOM critmas and this one. 😆
I love Liam O'Brien's DM style. He did a great job!
I am pro anything Liam
u should let hi know on twitter im sure he would appreciate
@@seanjames6000 i don't have twitter! I like what little sanity i still have!
He DMs like a very patient dad.
If you liked this and haven't yet, you should really check out Song of the Lorelei. It's another One-Shot ran by him and he does another great job.
Laura: Imma protecc Slaughter from the poison trap.
Sam, knowing of course perfectly that, according to lore, argonians basically swim in poison like water: Imma get my bone shield going.
1:24:05
Fellow DnD player: Oh shoot, I don't have any dice...
Laura, professional Dice horder: *MY TIME HAS FINALLY COME*
Laura slams her dice bag on the table. "We do not speak such blasphemy in my gaming group!"
I love that Liam didn't need dice until they were an hour in haha
This aged hilariously well, considering the stunt Laura pulled last episode lending Sam an unreleased dice, lol
no piece of sponsored content has the right to be this fucking good. i will miss these character's a lot :')
Would be awesome if they added them as NPCs in game.
327 likes and one reply (two now).
how?
"He's just a good chef, and a good person?"
"And kind of an asshole."
"Well, he's a chef. What passes for the purest of chef."
Far too accurate
Can they just do an ongoing campaign of them running a tavern? Like in the weeks when the main CR campaign is off? These three one-shots (one three-shot?) have been insanely entertaining
In particular I live for Sam's deep, deep knowledge of the lore and the clearly hundreds of hours of research he has put into what it is like to be a waiter or just in the service industry in general. A true master of his craft.
I mean... he is an actor. So if the stereotype is true, he may well have waited tables for a decade or two.
@@FretboardToAsh Not quite. Sam was a child theater actor. So he had steady acting jobs growing up.
@@Blue_Lunacy Fair enough. I do wonder whether theatre in his region is that profitable that one doesn't need jobs on the side though. But child-acting definitely should help get a foot in the door before the bills really start showing.
@@FretboardToAsh You can watch his Between The Sheet interview. Quite interesting really.
One-shot trilogy. ;)
so i don’t know if i can explain this feeling but i’m going to try. when matt dms, it feels like a bunch of kids gathering around their older brother to listen to his awesome stories. when marisha dms, it feels like one of those little kids taking his place and telling a really funny story. when liam dms, it feels somewhere in between? kind of like a bunch of friends being basically on level, but they all know that the one telling the story is really amazing and they respect him deeply. i don’t know if any of that made sense, but i’ve been trying to put that into words for a while now.
So, we now have Vex and Vax, Lex and Lax, AND Rex and Rax. I'm excited for this to continue.
next ones would be Tex and... oh no
The next will be a witch and a computer specialist - Hex and Hax
@@alexisnorman9446 And then a gigolo and a Kenny G impersonator.
aex and aax
All the way to Zex and Zax
I would have loved an Episode where the gang didn't have to go slay Daedra. Just 4 hours of them sitting around in their nice hole talking about their food and serving customers
Awkward slice of life comedy. I need it.

It’s a shame Sam didn’t know more about Argonian naming conventions, or he could have been Serves-with-Smiles.
or Ajum-Beeko, as the original Jel version of that might be
Don't worry, he knew all about argonian names, he just didn't want to confuse the audience :)
I loved in Murkmire when they would call me beeko. It was the cutest thing.
@@PrettyGuardian Yes-especially with their gravelly voices
I don’t know what you’re talking about, Sam is clearly a Nirn-renowned expert on Argonian lore
(I of course know what Nirn is, but for the audience, it’s the planet that they’re on)
Love how Liam can create the hottest guy in town with just a look... and a "Ma'am"
Same with the hottest girl, when he played as Jayne in the Barroom brawl one shot!😌😊
@@princessblazena Amen. Amen to both of those. And Jayne was A LOT. And still, incredibly hot!
Like you can visualize it so well, just off the tone. Instant swoon.
Love Liam's dm work. His characters are dope as his environmental effects.
ngl i got really flustered whenever that guy spoke. dammit liam
The greatest three-shot there ever was.
Could not agree more! This has been the best "extra" content CR has put out. I would love more of this kind of stuff instead of EXU
@@TheHeedbo Why not just say you enjoy this without the disrespect towards EXU? A lot of work went in to that and was Aabria's special moment. I don't get why people like you need to leave sassy or back handed comments.
@@craigtrish2011 might be because they don't like EXU. ... Honestly I did enjoy EXU ... But couldn't keep up to my expectations..... That's on me 😅...... but honestly they do there best and it's frickin amazing ... That three shot is just crazy and Great 😅
@@craigtrish2011 Dude, chill out.. @TheHeedbo was obviously not trying to be 'sassy or back handed'. Seemed to me like it was just an honest opinion.
@@craigtrish2011 But but how else can we make the cast feel bad about trying something new?
This episodic format with rotating DMs worked super well. Lets us get to know the characters better, while still keeping things plot-light, comedy-heavy. Would love more more-shots/mini-series in this vein in the future.
Three part “one-shot”…
…actually that’s pretty normal. Never mind!
If it wasnt streamed online, they definitely would've sat around a table for 9 hours doing this in 'one-shot' XD
they need a Part 4!
Sounds like the tournament 1 shot my friend did. It was supposed to be just 4 simple fights, but we engage into the RP a bit too much and turn it into a wrestlemania type thing that went for 4 sessions. It was amazing!!!
We all know Matt is the king of sound effects, but I feel like Liam comes close second, if not on the same level of awesomeness. Especially his monster sounds are unbelievable.
I’m not sure but I think he would make monster sounds for games. It just feels right and I’m too lazy to google it
Man, Taliesin just never disappoints with his characters, does he?
This was a really fun mini series to watch. And I liked how each episode had a different DM.
Please stop giving me mean comments. My mother reads the comments I get and she cries a lot because of it. Please be nice, dear stu
I would love for them to continue with this storyline until Travis and Ashley can have a chance to dm it.
@@averageopinion1251 Doubt Ashley is ever going to GM again though. Which is a pity, she didnt do half bad, i was really loving the Nautilis Ark story
I love how saintly Liam made the Golden Goose employees seem, and then how perfectly evil he made them after being exposed XD
The DM hot chair was a really nice touch! Changed the flavor for each chapter since they are kinda self contained. It was a fun little series, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Liam DMing?
100% trust right off the bat.
This was a super fun mini-series and I hope it doesn't get shadowed too much by C3 beginning.
Great PCs, great everything!
Laura was pretty good DMing on her one shot. I enjoyed it!
...Okay, but Aabria calling the kid "cranberry baby" was so cute!
Until this series i never knew how much Talisan as a cook was needed
Michelle is a natural. I would love to see more of her in the future.
Liam's first time back in the DM chair since the Cristmas one-shot in 2018 and it was so much fun. Enjoyed the chaos and the stories of these restaurant owners very much! I hope we can have more 2,3 part "one-shots" in the future!
100%! If anyone reading this comment hasn't watched the Night Before Critmas one-shot, please, do so. It is incredible. You *will* enjoy it.
The chef running up to a colossal daedra and wacking it with a skillet then yelling "shit!" upon realizing where he was.
*Chef's kiss*
Liam did magnificent and it was obvious he worked on the story, watched the previous episodes carefully and created a fitting and heroic conclusion (even if extending often the generous hand of the DM). Bravo! I'll miss those guys! :)
I hope we get more Mini-Series One Shots in the future. This was so much fun.
For sure, we will have those ones very soon.
Given EXU is meant to be an ongoing thing i feel like we'll get more miniseries and one shots.
I'm going to need a full CR length campaign of this elder scrolls themed tavern rpg actually please
"Don't break my friends' hearts!" is a pretty dang excellent battle cry, not gonna lie.
Hoa: "I don't know what you're trying to do, but I support you!"
Me: "YOU'RE SO NICE, BE MY FRIEND"
Liam is an incredible DM, I hope he gets to dm more things in the future cos wow.... his characters are so varied and interesting. I love the way he handles combat and descriptions. This was my favourite episode.
I really wish Liam would DM more games. He's one of my favorite voice actors and I really like his approach to the screen.
I could watch Liam DM an entire campaign, he's amazing... I want to see Michelle again too! She's delightful!
Really missed Liam's DMing, he has a very fun style!
Something about Liam's voice as a DM just makes it sound so smooth!!
SAM being the elder scrolls know it all of the party.
I felt legitimate sadness for the scene when the gang was watching their world fall apart around them, especially for Mallory
What's the betting that Rex gets annoyed if people don't tip properly? ;)
Love how Michelle plays it! Hope she will be able play some part in campaign 3.
I would of loved if the old drunk at the end to turn out to be a high level wizard.
Tavima and Grelnok? Chef's kiss. What a fantastic and playful miniseries!
Yes! I've felt vibes between them since part 1, so glad it happened.
Love this party. Liam as DM is super fun and hope to see more of him doing one shots!
He's probably DM-d the most on the channel other than Matt.
This is the first time I've seen him DM fun. The rest of his one-shots I've seen have been really depressing. 😑
Rennix flirting with Tavima was just so much fun to watch! Great job folks, always great to see Liam as DM
The sound I made when That happened between Tavima and Grelnok. Yesss 🔥🔥🔥
i honestly cannot remember much about their adventures...
but, the drama in their Tavern is something i cannot forget. lol
Is it ok that I enjoyed more the kitchen drama than the whole oblivion action?
I wish Travis was there, so I can see him squick out at Liam's visceral and crunchy sound effects.
Love that the Argonian that's resistant to poison didn't test the food/ drinks for it,
he could've opened that poison door too no problem
Also Sam's Argonian lore is now canon
Liam does such an amazing job DMing an entire array of both silly old folks and horrifying demonspawn in the same shoot. He's a total natural now, you love to see it
sam : Best ,most professional server ever for dnd - worst skull thrower ever
Liam’s diversity when it comes to NPC voices is magical
Watching Liam DM with his Twin sister from another mister and his Best friend is such a treat.
Once again I’m placing my vote for the new tavern name of “The Cooked Goose”
What a wonderfully fun, tense, and emotional finale to this 3-part one-shot! I am SO going to miss these characters. Each and Everyone of them so entertaining. And friggin LIAM O'Brien killed it! Matt is in a league of his own, but Liam is becoming a fantastic DM. I really enjoyed going on this adventure with ALL the DM's, characters/players, and my fellow Critters. Nirn be with you!
Bethesda is really missing an opportunity if they don't put these guys with their tavern in the game.
Would love to see these characters become cannon npcs running a tavern in ESO.
This whole three-shot has been such a unique experience. It's a great example of how much fun you can have with a setting not entirely focused on combat. Watching the players get immersed in role-playing tavern workers makes for so many refreshing comedy moments and the story was captivating in how they managed to make progress in their business together.
This whole setting for a set of one-shots was totally genius and I am totally going to steal some ideas from it to my own campaigns. Totally not what I was expecting from an ESO setting.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate all of Liam's voices?
Honestly should be a sitcom, this group haha
I've missed Liams DMing.
“Nirn be with you”
Yeah, I sure hope it does!
would the tray called Rax throw platter platter platter?
Underrated comment
This is awful. I love it.
'It smells hot'
Tea really burns when it's spayed from the nose.
They're so messy but somehow they have the most chill vibes. Love this party, wish there were more of these
I literally applauded Sam's tray performance
Worth checking out the other CR one shots if you enjoyed this! Vampires: the Masquerade, Undeadwood and Liams Quest are all fun.
Honey Heist, Darrington Brigade, Crash Pandas, and Call of Cthulu are great too! 😁😎
Liam is a great DM, on point and with sound effects^^
That prologue was well written, I appreciate all the small little details and easter eggs Liam put in there. Well done.
It is hilarious that in all three one-shots, Laura rolls so bad…lol…
I imagine that those dice are on prolonged time out at the moment
1:12:17 "Nirn be with you" is almost as good as "Bidet." XD
Really impressed with how much Liam's GMing improves every time he leads a game. This was my favourite of the Blackwood episodes - great fun!
Only right that Liam would be involved in this, having played a couple NPCs in ESO
This was really cute and fun. Loving the idea of three-shots. Enough time for character growth, short enough for a compact story.
They should do a Season 2 featuring Sheogorath. The perfect patron Daedra for this group.
I for one can't wait for the Rex and Rax being held by Lex and Lax fanart(s)
Ooh
1:06:40 Taliesin/Mallory: _"This place is a garden of delights, but it's built on lies."_
i desperately need a part 4 thats just 4 hours of them running the tavern
"Does he have a last name?"
"Yes."
"..."
I want to hang out with Malory so bad!😆
Love seeing Liam in the DM chair! What a treat :)
Heh. Sam laughing at Aabria's knowledge of Pack Tactics because he thinks that flanking advantage is a standard rule is- well, kinda classic Sam Riegel really. :P
"That...was the nicest thing you've said to anyone 🥺"
"What's happening to us?"
"This place is ruining us!"
This little series was so fun, I’m going to miss this barely functioning tavern crew.
i hope they do more in the future. The world needs more Slaughter Grimm.
Ok, after this the world neeeeeeeeeeeds a game where Laura and Aabria are some kind of fighter duo. Like a barbarian and a monk or they can both be monks so we can get all the dope monk shit LOL.....either way it needs to be a thing....
Just came here to say how much I LOVE their energy together
Was coming here to say this. They need to play together more often
they are fantastic together
Nirn be with you.
And also with you.
Someone is a old school Catholic like me.
Does anyone else rewatch this occasionally?
Guilty
The head waiter seems to be the only waiter. 😄
Laura Bailey laughing in character is always rewarding
I am going to miss this group so much! I love these characters, especially Slaughter and Hoa! I could literally watch several episodes of this rag-tag tavern crew - though I am happy that Tavima got the love she deserved :)
i love how they roll so low for almost everything except when it really counts (at least in part 2, haven't finished part 3 yet) really enjoying it so far
