Peaceful Road Trip Through Malaysia, Then This Happened ... 🇲🇾
In this video, the road trip around Malaysia continues. This time, we get swarmed by monkeys, struggle to fill up petrol (once again) and stop off at this cool town called Pekan in Malaysia. They have old Navy equipment like a tank, a helicopter and a plane. They even have a fully resorted old train which has a cafe inside.
Along the way I also show you an abandoned hotel, which is basically standard in any Marco Roams film, then we finish off looking at Kuantan 188 Tower, then finish the night off at Elite Hotel.
Enjoy :D

love the randomness of this vlog. An abandoned house with an aeroplane manual, an evolved monkey, a train, tank, plane and heli in the middle of nowhere. Still watching
Hahaha it’s so random I know … it’s just literally whatever happens in my day of filming 😂
Great Mate
Yep Malaysia is an awesome country, very underrated. Great vlog again :)
😁😁😁
Safe travels dude! It's great you're able to give us a real insight into Malaysia, I'd love to go
Thanks bro!
Great work Marco. I never looked into Malaysia. I need to think outside the box more and explore this Country one day. The train with Graffiti would be a great idea too.
The jet fighter are F86 Sabre, Royal Australian Air Force RAAF give to Royal Malaysian Air Force about 10 plane
Ahh cool! Thanks for the info, what year did this occur?
Keep up the good work Marco ❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
12:46 your words makes me cried 😭😭 . Not many travelers aware about Malaysia. But you did. Love you ❤
And I 💯 mean it! 😊❤️
It was actually my Dr in Sydney who recommended it to me
Great work again it’s looks very Interesting place to visit
Thanks!!
I lived in Malaysia when i was a kid and it was amazing! I would love to go back one day!
You should ✌🏼😁
You've rapidly become my favorite travel-vlog style CZcamsr.
I get so much joy from seeing all these places, listening to the discussions, and taking it all in.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures!
Thanks man appreciate it 😊
I agree..
Great video. Lots of cool repurposed historical planes and trains....and travelling in your automobile!
Another great MARCO ROCKS video!!
You rock!!! ✌🏼
Alex,so glad to see another great video. Appreciate your hard work for us. Thank you!
Thanks buddy! 😁
Keep at it legend, love from home 🇦🇺
Thanks buddy!
# 3 when I used to travel by myself - before marriage - 1961 - 1976 I would pass up many little side places on the road and I am sure I skipped many very
interesting places. You get fixed on one place you are going to and miss so much because you are TOO LAZY to pull over and take a look. The spot with the
train, plane, tank, etc. is such an example. A great spot for your rest stop - and coffee - than could have been so easily missed.
Exactly! They are the kinda of places the journey is all about!
Ended up there by accident
Thanks for another awesome adventure!!!!! I’m a new subscriber and I’ve been binge watching for days!!!! Cheers ❤️🔥
Thanks man, appreciate it… this is the style I love and I am passionate about.
Getting a lot of unsubscribers from it, but it’s the way I like to show a story or a journey in my videos.
I’m glad you like it and many others seem too, but some people are hating on me because I am not entering dangerous hoods and slums 😂
Can’t keep everyone happy, but I’m glad you are! ✌🏼
cool video..I have always gone down ramdom roads while travelling around Australia..I used2 bring a tent, so if we were ever stuck with expensive motels, kids & I would just pitch the tent somewhere..
Haha that’s great! Aussie accomodation is so expensive 😩
The number plate shop is supposed to fix the numbers after checking your road tax and insurance. So technically buying the number plate without registration is illegal and the shop can get into trouble with the law for doing so.
Ahh k! That makes sense … it’s a cool system … reminds me of my industry I was in since a teenager 😎
@@marcoroams The lettering is regulated. There's a font and size you have to obey. Others are illegal but for some, as usual, rules are made to be broken.
I love that tag-Line ‘everything you never expected‘ pardon me if I use that one myself!! It’s excellent
Please be my guest! ✌🏼😎
Thanks for your compliment of M’sia, Marco! There are many hidden, under rated gems in M’sia worth a visit! Your Vlogs are really raw and show viewers, areas off the beaten track. TBH I’ve not been to half the places you’ve driven to. Thanks for the eye opening experience!
I actually really loved Malaysia! I just wish I had someone to enjoy it with
Loving the monkeys! ❤
They follow me everywhere haha
It's ridiculous that your not getting more views. Great video.
Thank you, I’m not sure what it is… I thought this Malaysian Road trip seeing was pretty fun and entertaining, but I guess maybe it’s just got a smaller market …. Hmm, all I can do it keep going and see where I am at down the track 😊
In my opinion and my personal preferences, I like little towns with history and lots of local culture. Worth driving to see lots of things in that area. Would be a great memory for tourist if they have a great afternoon in that train and do something else in that area.
Agreed! I think many people would like this journey style but are not sure what to call it …
Ouuu a new video. 🎉🎉🎉 thanks for sharing your monkey friends!! ❤
😁😁😁
Great video.

Tq Good Jobs 👍
G'day mate, Thanks for sharing this vlog. It made me remember backpacking up the East Coast of Malaysia in 1985. Kuantan was just a boring city back then, but a city nonetheless. We actually left the same day getting a lift to Rantau Abang by a generous local in a white Merc. driven by his personal driver. 😊 Peace, brother and keep vlogging ✌
Thank you mate! Yes it has definitely grown 🙏🏽
Cool place...love to travel like you❤❤❤

Heyyyy Marco! Love seeing a new vlog. Hope you're feeling brighter in yourself. Take care ✨✌🏻
Thank you Katie 😁
@@marcoroams you're welcome. Rooting for ya from over here in Liverpool 🇬🇧

@@marcoroams Ohhhh please do! I'd gladly offer to be your tour guide if needed, but I bet you'd breeze it on your own. Liverpool is slim pickings compared to where you go and off grid and everything. I'd be happy to give you the names of a few hidden gems to visit if you'd like tho ✌🏻
@@KatieBlue16 that would be nice 😊

Many cool instagrammable cafes in Kuantan... cool place...
Soooo many cafes there hahah
God not the elite hotel! We booked online then arrived and guy tried charging us the tourist tax again we binned him off and said we're checking in mate.
East Coast is lovely
Tourism tax is a federal gov tax. For non malaysians
@@keangwooichoo6138When booking and paying online tourism tax is included. Many hotels ignore this and try charge you twice to make more money sadly.
Hahahaha what!! You stayed there too?
Man my ATM card went missing in that town seriously some weird shit happened to me on this journey
@@marcoroams ahah yeah guy was an idiot with us but ended up mates in the end. Cheapest gaff in town!
@EllisWR haha I like about the 3rd cheapest… hate over spending my travel money
I believe they have a similar number plating scheme in the Philippines as well and can be recognised by the law/government if your papers are intact and correct. Another interesting video as usual. Cheers!
Thanks John! Appreciate that mate
That helicopter is a Westland Wasp. Retired in 1998. Think the snake logo belonged to the squadron that operated those planes. The snake logo is now used by the squadron that operates the Sukhoi Su30.
Oh wow! It looks like it would have been retired in the 80s lol
The plates are for replacement the vehicles is already registered with their DMV. But yes people can make illegal ones anytime too. Double charge is standard in Msia. I as a Sgrean is used to it. But since Sg and My is similar, I always use my Msian bank credit card to pay and i speak Malay, they assume I'm.local unless they ask for IC. Won't work for you though. 😂. Msia roads are nice to drive. Just give way to crazy drivers once a while.
Hahaha you are lucky!
But yeah the number plate thing is weird because they aren’t even reflective and they are so easy to make fakes.
Is Australian we are very very strict with it! They need to be made by the one company monitored by the Roads Authority
Malaysian road is one of the best in Asia..
For petrol station in Malaysia, you can tell the cashier “full tank”, then you fill it up and pay later or you can pay first and tell them full tank and get the balance once finish. People in Malaysia don’t really travel to these places much except something really different from where there are from as everyone isn’t on holiday mood and just enjoy food in their own town for weekends as there is always traffic jam on weekends and too much effort to drive so far and stuck in traffic most of the time on weekends. For number plate shop, they are private business and you can make any plate with anything on it, they are not government regulated. The drivers or riders need the paper on their vehicles at all time, so the plate itself doesn’t have the government regulation on it. Thanks for sharing of the journey at this part in Malaysia
Thank you, appreciate all that information. The petrol thing was really hard for me because I did explain several times I want it a full tank but they always said I had to say how much and pay first ha ha.
Maybe if many Malaysians don’t know these areas, I should be naming the titles something else, that is the hardest part knowing what to name them .
EXCELLENT CONTENT MARCO AS ALWAYS LEGEND. LOL I THOUGHT U BUYING BANANAS 🍌🤣🍌 TO FEED MONKEY'S 🙊🙉🙈🐵🐒🍌🍌✅ AUSTRALIAN-GUY
Hahahaha thanks man!
Yeah I did 😁
All of this road trip is filmed in order so it continues on, you’ll see what happens with the bananas in the next part 😂🍌
Would love to see you do sri lanks
I will in about 2 months
In Canada you always have to pay prior to filling your tank. Back in the 90s you were allowed to fill them pay but since I've been a car owner it's always pay first. If you pay cash and pay $100 but the tank takes $80 you go back with the receipt and get the change. If you're paying card you put $100 but it takes $80 then the leftovers automatically get refunded to your card. Lol it's insane to me that places don't do this system because it's all I know. ( I'm 32)
On why Malaysia is less popular among young backpackers compared to Phuket / Thailand; For few reasons, one of it is due to the lack of nightlife scene, alcohol is heavily taxed and thus expensive, operating hours of nightclubs are strictly enforced, prostitution and sex trades are illegal (same goes to drug / weed). And these are what most young backpackers looking for. However, among family travelers and vacationers, expat and retirees, medical tourists and young Japanese looking for stress-free environment, Malaysia is their no 1 destinations / second home.
Yeah makes sense! But it’s a good place for nature and just getting out there and seeing the world with out all the drinking.
I also found it peaceful and never in danger
# 2 I'm sure I am as old as your grandpa - when my brother ( six years older then I ) early 50's we made lots of the plastic model boats and planes. One year,
maybe 1956 or 57 we took all the models up to our lake property, put them all on the beach and the boats in the water and started throwing fire crackers at them.
Started with lady fingers, and on up getting bigger each time. Took a couple of hours but our air force destroyed them all. Only one burnt finger from a fast fuse.
Yes you would be around same age! Why did you destroy them lol… all that hard work
I am age 80 - my brother's idea, and they were almost all his models, but it was a lot of fun.@@marcoroams
11:30 do notice how we shake hands... from the hand, to the heart... it's in the details...
I have noticed this while travelling and I like it .. I am going to start doing it ❤️
you were actually in the ground of Pahang Museum.. you know the white building with the steel horses.. that is the museum building..
Which part??
@@marcoroams the one with train cafe, airplane, helicopter.. you were in Pahang Museum compound.. thats why those stuff on display.. they are not just randomly there..
Awww... poor manki...
You can get these reg plates done in uk. There not legal unless you register them through Dvla. Some ppl just display on the dash.
LMAO, the monkey bit of the video! 😆
Hahaha! Bro they follow me
That looks like a nice city, as you said clean and well kept. Nice room too and great price! The only negative was double charging crap if you're not a citizen and it irritates me that they do that and get away with it likes its normal because it is normal! Bullshit! The expression on that monkeys face as you was talking to him cracked me up! He just didnt speak English!
Yeah very tidy place!
The double tourist price thing is weird, I’m not sure how or why they do it, but it’s odd because it’s not that welcoming… we also have to pay $3 a night additional at hotels.
Haha the monkey looked like he had never seen a human before
@@marcoroams I think they probably do because they get away with it
My name is Borat!! GOAT thumbnail 😂
😂😂😂
Some guy said he just unsubscribed because it was click bait! Haha, the joke went over his head
@@marcoroamshaha yeah saw that, some people 😂 so weird the different ways you fill up petrol in Asia! In China they have people fill up your car and you can pay whilst in the car
I literally spent hours today coming up with a title / thumbnail which relates to a random road trip vlog … these people don’t understand.
Yeah! The petrol system changes everywhere!
# 5 Malaysia is so clean because the penalty for gum on the sidewalk, trash on the roads, I bet there is no graffiti on walls. I wish Seattle would get
tough on this kind of stuff. Gives the town a totally trashy look.
It’s very very clean. In fact along the entire highways they have people constantly hired to mow the grass and clip the hedges … always look immaculate
Villages above water can be dirty as there is no waste management especially in borneo island where some areas housed refugees or sea gypsies.
As a local, I give a 7 out of 10.
Malaysia promotes mural arts. Tipping is not a culture in Malaysia, please don't ruin that. Just pay RM 50 for fuel, you may claim the balance from the cashier if u're not using the whole deposit. Foreign visitors have to pay at full price. Normally discount given to senior local/foreign visitors, citizens, legal immigrant workers, permanent residents, disables & local/foreign students from local institutes. Usually for places which involve government such as financial, lands acquired, special permit, etc. By feeding monkeys, you lure them out of their natural habitat into the cities. This directly increases their chances of becoming victims of roadkill by speeding vehicles on roads and highways. Injured monkeys are banished from their troops and most of the times, do not receive proper medical care.
@imjuzsayin..5017 look at batu caves now. The monkeys expect humans to feed them. Otherwise they will Rob or steal.
In a town not far from me in 🇬🇧 there a boing 747 parked up and turned into a cafe. Selling steak. It’s called..get this…”steaks on a plane” lol 😂 it’s true, never been. Ha
Hahahahhaa that’s amazing! Love it ✌🏼😁
@@marcoroams ha. not sure how good it is. 🤷♂️ if you ever in 🇬🇧 I’ll take you, but will not be held responsible. 😂
👍🏻✌🏻🧡
❤️
Cars are Registered at the Road Transport Department... then you are given a registration card.... with a number... get the plate done at the shop...
Such a different system to what I am used to, but I think it is pretty cool how customisable you can make things, and it gives the small guys are cool Business to run 😊✌🏼
Bro what app are you using to show the drive you did? I’ve been looking for that for the longest time
Yeah I’ll make one for you, DM me on the Gram
@@marcoroams is it the travel boast app but paid? I’ve been trying to do it for ages
@DanUnplanned yeah something like that… not working for you?
@@marcoroams yea I’ve not got the paid version bro just the free one! I might buy it if they turn out like that
@14:00 Nah mate... your single bad experience on the petrol pump does not represent all petrol pumps.. come on mate. It's just a fluke. Filling up petrol is easy if you know how much you want. If you need RM50 worth of petrol just go pay 50 at the counter and tell them or simply point your car to them so that they know which pump you're at. It's a little bit tricky if you wanna put in full tank because they don't know how much to key in the exact amount. So, they will take a deposit. But... pay by card is much simpler if you have a credit card. Just pay at the pump. Well.. you'll learn.. no doubt.
Thanks bro, but it was like this at every place!
It’s just confusing because I’ve never done it like this before
no its a bit different here, the vehicle is already registered under a specific number, you can just go to these shops if your number plate fell down or you want to change the font
, they have nothing to do with govt. and govt. dont issue number plates
Ahh k! Cool 😎 thanks for the insight
Mr. Marco - 10:20 am in Everett, Wash. it was 33 degrees when I got up and my world was white. You didn't have a banana for the little monkey?
Maybe he wanted a ride to the next town.
Hey mate! ❄️ wow, much different to being here in south east Asia!

@@marcoroams I glad u didn't 😅 its the most aggressive monkey species here..looks like a baboon, also aggressive like baboon
# 6 in getting a room for the night or days, do they have Non smoking rooms or do you take your chance ?
Yes some places offer smoking or non smoking, however the smoke is usually imbedded into the walls and still smells a bit like it
It is illegal to smoke in a building now. Restaurants too.
# 4 I take it you tossed out a couple bananas - just like seagulls, one flys down and suddenly you have 50 or more.
You’ll see in the next episode! 😂
A more interesting title for the CZcams algorithm would be "Monkey Apocalype in Malaysia" ;-)
Lol. Yeah it was that, but then I changed it …. This video was very hard to name because it had so much random stuff

There is loop holes and stuff, but speak with an accountant to get the figure down as low as legally possible

I am with you on hotel rooms it's a place to drop your head for the night so why pay for the facilities at expensive hotels that you are not going to use anyway.
It’s only annoying when it’s super expensive, but yeah I find it odd because I have been to over 20 countries now and no one has ever done that in an “official” way … we also have to pay more for hotel rooms too.
