Many people wonder how hard it is to swap from the Chevy s10 front end to the GMC sonoma front end. I went ahead and made this video to show how easy it can be done.
I have a question too ....well my dad passed away but he has a 96 s10 ..and I just got a 04 ...and the front end on the 96 is messed up can I swap out the 04 ...with the 96?
im doing this,i got a 2005 white blazer because it was the only one with a 56 speed in it and i did a LS swap and i dont like the front,so does the bumper cover completely cover the bumper up ? mine is dented in and i dont want to have to buy a new one and have it painted if i dont have to,if you cant see it you know cause of the cover,if you could holler bro and let me know ok,thanks
Sorry I just now saw this. Yeah you would have to swap the bumper. Unless you were comfortable cutting your grill. You can keep the Sonoma bumper if you cut the plastic part of the s10 grill right under the turn signals.
Mine is a 03 but my bumper was used from 98-05. You probably have the LT bumper with the rubber impact bar across the front. They can be swapped out fairly easily.
The trailblazer front end conversation is not easy. Lots of body work involved including cutting up fenders and hood. And in my opinion, the swap only looks good if you use the trailblazer hood which would make it even more difficult. If you're looking for a bolt on swap, look into the 98-01 envoy front end. It is a nice upgrade.
Kevin M they made a trail blazer apperance package in the model years of 1998 to 2004 ive only seen 1 and the diamond edition jimmy is nice looking too i have a a envoy already want the diamond edition now lol
mike cole yeah I'm aware. But the trailblazer edition blazer uses the same front end as regular blazer. There's actually a trailblazer edition for sale by me for $650 right now (atl area). Good luck on the diamond edition.
Ricky Persaud anything can be made to work but unfortunately what you discribed wont look right without cutting the s10 grill. You can technically get it all on there but the sides that rise up on the bumper and the bottom of the grill will be squished together and not look right
has anyone gone the other way? i wanna swap my 99 jimmy to the blazer front grill and lights cuz apparently thats the only way to get projector headlights
hey Kevin so u were right about that trailblazer conversion. some people have it done and it doesn't come out as espected. I do not want to take that risk. I have a question for u. so I am in the process of converting my blazer to xtreme. I'm about to order the bodykit. the thing is that I want the grill that the xtreme has so I can paint the center bar. I don't want it chrome. i want it all black. the thing is everywhere I go it says it doesn't fit my 2000 blazer. Does it really matter? can I just buy it even though it says it doesn't fit and make the swap? thanks man. U mind hooking me up with Ur email if I need more answers?
@@kevinm757after 6 years, it might be time to delete it whether he’s notified you or not. Serious question, does aol even still exist for email? Haven’t seen an aol address in many years.
yea I might change out my Bravada front clip for a blazer maybe. I also have a Jimmy Diamond Edition so maybe two blazer fornt clips when I go tot he junkyard.
I'd probably leave the diamond edition as is since its relatively a rare trim package but I'd definitely swap the bravada out for a s10/blazer front. You know you can modify your bravada bumper to work with the s10/blazer grill and headlights and they look really good together.
+Kevin M yea. the thing is the Olds & GMC use a uniform headlight assembly which I have to get to swap to the Chevy. the diamond edition is real sweet. i thought the Bravada was the top of the line and when I saw this Jimmy I was like "whoa!" As I see it now it just needs a heater core, and tie rods on the Right front and an exhaust leak somewhere around the muffler. Also, Im not comfortable with this aftetmarket antitheft installation. The Bravada had a leaking intake that I did in July. It needs a new windshield, blower motor, hood release latch and there is a trans leak where the transfer adapter is. I dont think the guy put a gasket on when he swapped the transmission. Jimmy was $800, the Olds was $700, the Blazer I got and gave to my brother was free because my neighbor couldnt get it to start and didnt want it.
My roommate just recently bought a salvaged s10. It's basically a Frankenstein creature made with numerous s10 and Sonoma pieces and panels.
Even with the gap it looks pretty good.
Can't wait to do this!
I have an s10 same year and I want to do this swap... What bumper cover would I need exactly ?the reg GMC Sonoma bumper cover?
I have a question too ....well my dad passed away but he has a 96 s10 ..and I just got a 04 ...and the front end on the 96 is messed up can I swap out the 04 ...with the 96?
does the bumper come off easily? I need to replace.
Will the Chevy grill and bumper fit on my 01 gmc jimmy???
im doing this,i got a 2005 white blazer because it was the only one with a 56 speed in it and i did a LS swap and i dont like the front,so does the bumper cover completely cover the bumper up ? mine is dented in and i dont want to have to buy a new one and have it painted if i dont have to,if you cant see it you know cause of the cover,if you could holler bro and let me know ok,thanks
Nice wheels have the same ones
What all did you end up needing to do the sonoma front end? Just headlights, grille, and bumper?
Yes
can I do it with a 96 gmc jimmy to a 2000 chevy blazer/s10 style or will I have to swap the radiator support?
You will have to change the radiator support but only because of the year range. 94-97 are the same 98+ are the same.
Okay thanks
Wat bumper is that?
Will this work on a Gmc Sonoma to S10?
Was going to ask the same thing, you end up doing it?
Hey if I was gonna go from sonoma to s10 would you think the bumper needs to be swapped out.
Sorry I just now saw this. Yeah you would have to swap the bumper.
Unless you were comfortable cutting your grill. You can keep the Sonoma bumper if you cut the plastic part of the s10 grill right under the turn signals.
Kevin M yes def needs to be changed
Will a chevy s-10 off road bumper work on a sonoma?
Xilent yes, as long as you swap the front end too. Otherwise you’ll have the gap like shown in this video.
I have a 2000 s10 blazer. my bumper is different from the one you have. what year is your blazer
Mine is a 03 but my bumper was used from 98-05. You probably have the LT bumper with the rubber impact bar across the front. They can be swapped out fairly easily.
Yeah Ur right about the rubber impact bar. Thanks for the reply . I'm kinda debating on doing that trailblazer front end conversion
The trailblazer front end conversation is not easy. Lots of body work involved including cutting up fenders and hood. oh shoot I couldnt do that. my bravada dna jimmy have the same headlight assembly but the Chevy is more complicated
what the drop on the blazer just curious, is it a 2/3?
Can't remember what drop I had at the time but it's 5/4.5 now. For a while it was 3/4.5.
Just watched the video again. Yeah that was when it was 3/4.5.
What years are they 98 and 98
I got a gmc jimmy my question is do I need to change my bumper to put the s10 headlights and grill on
Ricky Persaud anything can be made to work but unfortunately what you discribed wont look right without cutting the s10 grill. You can technically get it all on there but the sides that rise up on the bumper and the bottom of the grill will be squished together and not look right
Kevin M what if I used the blazer grill the two is a twin just headlight and grill difference
Ricky Persaud I don’t understand your question
@@kevinm757 is there way to keep the Chevy grille but use GMC lights
has anyone gone the other way? i wanna swap my 99 jimmy to the blazer front grill and lights cuz apparently thats the only way to get projector headlights
Elijah Askins many have. It is the exact same process.
Really? Sweet was woried the headlights were too tall for the bumper. Appreciate the reaponse fella
Elijah Askins well you would have to change your bumper to the Chevy bumper. Or you can modify the Chevy grill to work with the GMC bumper.
I gotta stepside sonoma, would k be able to grt rid of the big square lights and put in s10 lights.
What year is your Sonoma?
2001 sls
I’d like to know if it’s do able been looking to change my Sonoma front to a S10
got the email thanks

No problem man, the xtreme grill should work fine as long as you have the 98+ core support (I forget if you mentioned your year).

do you have a video on how to remove the front bumper?
I do not. Sorry. It's pretty easy though. Just a matter of unbolting it if I remember right.
Kevin M airight thank you
what front bumper is that???
Blake Britain that's just the stock 1998+ Chevy s10/blazer bumper. There are two factory styles.
What wheels and front bumper?
The wheels are from a GMC or S-10 2000-2003 with the ZQ8 Pckg or extreme kit. I believe those were 235/45R16
I have a 2002 blazer well the body of 99 s10 pu fit that frame
sanchez197741 not without MAJOR modifications. The back half or the frame is a lot different and the wheel base is not the same.
My grandpas Sonoma has Cheney hub caos
Get a envoy bumper would looks nice
SOTO'S oh that's a tree is not supposed to do that either he's making his engine stop it that's why
I’m going to get Sonoma lights and use Chevy girlie
How'd that turn out

Wtf s10 100% better
I like the s10 front better too but this shows the process for either swap really. Simple either way.
I don't see any difference except for the brand.
zappy bear GMC headlights are a one piece design as opposed to two
Wtf S-10 is 100% the same shit as a Sonoma 😂
People say Gmc front ends are more manly than Chevy
Zack Ryan not more manly. Gmc front end gets more men. After all, it is a Gay Mans Chevy front end
Why would you Jack your truck up like that
Vortec 67
what are you talking about? I swapped the front end for the video and swapped it right back.
GMC front ends on these trucks look 1000% better
S10 extreme front end decimates all gmc sonomas front end

S10 looks way better. Why would you do this?
No megusta la sonoma
Gmc looks better 100%
