Erika's Gym having a lot of water types kind of makes sense, actually. You need water to keep the plants healthy.
I don't think I ever considered how weird the guy is who's like: "Yeah I'm broke from gambling, let's give this coin case to a 10 year old kid now"
If im going down, im taking this kid with me!
Perhaps he was testing us with temptation, and we all failed
Man that silence of happiness when the text read "What? Rhyhorn is evolving!" Made me smile lol.
The mental image of Rhyhorn sleeping through a literal explosion is hilarious 😆
Me when I sleep after a joint
I needed that image today lol
Haunter has the coolest sprite in Gen 1. It was always my favorite as a kid, but the back sprite, like all gen 1 mons, was a major bummer when i finally had one lol
Farfetch'd supports and delivers clients to safely spring into battle. Farfetch'd adeptly throws the sand. Farfetch'd protects the team. Farfetch'd MVP.
Wrap Dragonite isn’t an option, only wild Dragonite has it so that you can’t get it but enemy trainers can.
You should also put that TM11 Bubblebeam you bought on Persian. It’s part of its competitive set to hit Rocks and for coverage.
Edit: Rapidash gets Horn Drill at level 1 only, so that you can’t use it but trainers can, similar to Dragonite and Wrap
I've never been as invested in a Pokémon evolving, as I was for that Rhyhorn.
Love this series. Brings back memories (both good and very bad) of my own play through this game. Couple of things that might come in handy in the future episodes (I wouldn't consider these spoilers, just quality of life things):
• The path to the hut in Safari Zone takes exactly 499 steps at a minimum, so might be worth looking up a Blue Kaizo safari map online as it may take hours and hours of attempts doing it blind trying to do it inside 500 steps.
• Rare candies are $1 each in the victory road mart. So you can build whole new lvl 100 teams for the elite 4 with no grinding.
• Post-Golduck,if you're still looking for a good water amnesia user, Slowbro is your mon.
Yeah safari zone was where I gave up and just used the gameshark "walk through walls" glitch for the rest of my playthrough
_Exactly_ 499 steps?! That's gotta be the most sadistic thing I've ever heard, dear Lord
Rare 🍬 are 1 💵 👌 😎 ✨️ so I'm guessing no misdingno than
Absolutely love this series man. Thank you
2:16:52 "Tangela is the only Grass Type that's not Poison in Gen 1" You forgot Paras/Parasect, the only non-Poison Bug type which gets a Bug attack move.
and the exeggcute line
Jolteon gets Pin Missile
And there are actually only 3 lines in Gen 1 that are Grass/Poison (bulbasaur, oddish, and bellsprout). The problem with Poison is there are 12 lines that have it, making Psychic or Ground extremely useful.
@@penguinimptheinsane774 But that isn't Bug type
Tbh I think he misspoke and meant to say it's the only pure grass type
I can’t believe how much hype did I feel when you managed to defeat Erika. Rapidash❤
Been sick during the holidays and these have made the days go by faster. Thx
1:20:07 They'll probably disable the Game Boy Tower option. On the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Yellow and the Gen 2 games, they disabled the Print option in the Pokedex. So we can't even experience the Twitch Plays Pokemon meme out of 2016 by staring at the error message screen while the print music plays (for which TPP managed to give a completely different feel to).
This didn't age well
Kaizo games have an interesting concept of "difficult":
A trainer with 3 mons that all explode isnt ever going to beat you, but they are going to force you to go back to the Pokemon Center after every single fight.
Putting caves or fences so you have to travel further to get in/out of town isnt challenging, it just makes everything take longer.
If grind/repitition equals difficulty, why not just make every pokemon give you 1 exp only? Seems in keeping with the way pokemon kaizo games treat difficulty.
legit was wondering why all wild mons aren't just severely underleveled. it's quite generous if tedious is the game.
a team of explosion users in gen 1 can wreak havoc on a team because of the way it works (defence is halved before the damage calc), especially a team of muks (who have a relatively high attack stat to use explosion well), and combined with the grass... in _theory_ but repels work on top slot regardless of fainted status or not so by the time you'd encounter them...
but this is why rhydon has utility at all tbqh.
later gens have a lot more mechanics and AI to work with but gen 1 is going to have to work with gimmicks. i think ultimately this does what it can, ie forcing people to carry cut on a main (which isn't actually an issue, as gen 1 has really restrictive learnsets so it is guaranteed you probably already have a dead slot somewhere on the team for it). by strong understanding of the gen 1 bugs you can pull some shenanigans, but it begs the question of making AI actually utilise the mechanics being broken (this is not possible manually) and finding the interplay of stat buffs that work for the AI while not benefiting players so much. i think pidgeot being as buffed as it is, is due solely to the belief most players will overlook it as usual, for instance.
it seems difficult to make a gen 1 kaizo that doesn't make difficulty = annoyingly tedious.
because this kaizo game is like a toxic relationship: it is as generous as tedious, so everytime you wanna quit because you've gone through some bullshit it give you something to be glad about. This range from low-cost repels and not so bad lay-out to free candies and being able to catch a vast number of pokémon early on.
Yeah, it's because the original meaning of Kaizo has been lost to time and now just means "Let's make things as obnoxiously difficult as possible" in the minds of people who *don't know what the fuck they're doing.* Genuine thought and effort was put into this hack but it clearly isn't perfect, suffering from the same "annoying = hard" tripe other Kaizo's fall into.
I think there's a misconception here.. The challenge is the lack of stat experience and limited movesets.. The map is just a troll with places that force you to keep going forward when you dont expect it along with "easy" paths that lead to traps.. Same with the exploding teams and random level 100 useless pokemon.. Even rom hacks in the early 2000s did this, the Drayno inspired ones just take the mapping a bit too far, but you're reaction to it is the desired one of the devs.. It's supposed to piss you off.. Taking away DVs and most badge boosting moves away from the player is a good idea, but the mapping is also a trend of that 2010s fad where every ROM hack had unnecessary jank everywhere.. Just my thoughts and words from others I remember when talking about this game a while back on forums
Cry more, you filthy casual! Entertain us with your salty tears!
That last Gambler........ VILEPLUME FTW/MVP!!!
I love your commentary, you’re hilarious 😂
I love all your pokemon playthroughs, after I finish this I'll probably go back to the second time you played nightmare invasion for bedtime. Thanks! ✌️
Edit: the crit/flinch on Lapras was beautiful
It seems in most cases the AI using Super Potions actually makes it easier for the player. Cases where the enemy outspeeds, it essentially blocks it from ko and potentially getting a hit on the players next pokemon - instead it just wastes a turn to ultimately fainting.
1:31:00 I REALLY thought that old man was just set to stand in the way of the TMs. LOL
Hey there!
In Gen1 the level doesn‘t matter for the success of 1-Hit-KO moves. But the speed does. If your pokemon are faster than the Opponent‘s, then one-hot-KOs cannot hit. Which is probably why your Rapidash never got hit.
I think level still does matter
@@kinnikuboneman
*Accuracy mechanics*
*Generation I*
All OHKO moves have an accuracy of 30%, *but they will automatically fail if the user's Speed stat is lower than the target's.* An X Accuracy will guarantee that all OHKO moves hit. The accuracy of OHKO moves in Generation I is affected by the standard accuracy and evasion stats.
*Generation II*
OHKO moves *automatically fail if the target has a higher level than the user.*

Regarding the Stadium games on an emulator: you can load your Gameboy pokemon games and saves with a virtual transfer pak if you have the right input plugin
I had the mental image of water separating the Safari Zone and Fuschia Gym, so you had to go both ways.
It's even worse. The gym and Pokémon center are atop a one-way ledge, and you can't get there without fly. So, you have to walk or bike from Lavender past all the bird trainers, through Fuschia, and *up* cycling road to get fly, fighting all the trainers along the way.
For the Lavender Town music, apparently some now dead rapper sampled it and CZcams picks it up as a copyright claim, despite the label not actually owning the copyright
gotta love the algorythm era
@@pikminologueraisin2139 of course always ruins everything
I have downloaded this game, so I think I deserve a heads up for when I eventually play it. Are there gonna be trainers with over-level-100 Pokemon near the endgame?
Yes, although I think it’s just for the E4 and champion
These are fire
15:40 was this a double confuse miss (50% each) into a 60% hypnosis into a 1/256 glitch miss into a second in a row 60% hypnosis?
What an Gym battle 🔥🔥🔥
Lift key is on level 7 if I remember correctly. Dropped by a rocket.
Really enjoying the series when I'm looking to chill out. The fact that the gamblers is OHKO moves made me think of the 'Let's Go' games... and then I thought, "This ROM hack probably outdates 'Let's Go', was mainline Pokemon influenced by this hack?!" 🤣
gambler having OHKO moves was in Poke stadium games so i dont think so.
They've always had them. It's what they gamble on lol
I know it's strange, but Cloyster exploding is actually a thing in Gen 1 yeah. You don't really see it outside of Pokemon Stadium 1, where it was actually kinda common enough to be stupid. But yeah, it can learn the TM for Explosion so, it's legit in the moveset... So can Eggs, which I seem to almost remember happening in Stadium. I have a lot of memories of opponents having exploding things lol
I remember explosion Exeggutor in stadium
@@thadjarvis9514 Yup. The eggs and clams reeeeeally liked going boom. Maybe it was shell = high defense = explode? Idk.
@@HellbladesFFXI could be a high defense thing like Golem exploding too. Ive noticed its a lot of round pokemon too lol like Electrode and Gastly
This hack looks more needlessly time consuming rather than difficult.
May be at higher levels (where a few levels difference are way less noticeable) things will change.
spoiler alert, the elite 4 all have level 115 pokemon. The player's team is limited to level 100.
@@yoseftreitman7226 wow that's insane
Interesting vid as always! Think you should definitely put Blastoise back in. Playing Blue Kaizo myself and he’s been a huge help
Pidgeot deserved a name by the end of all this 😆
Awesome stuff
I'm doing my playthrough along side you, been using high attack high speed pokemon so far my team is gyrados, nidoking, arcanine, victreebell, raichu, pigeot I over level also which has been helping but i get lots of crits and ohko
pokemon music is a cultural good and should not be covered by stupid selfish companies.
Lol "cultural"
But yes, SoundCloud rappers should stop claiming Cynthia's theme
ended up getting addicted to this series
Loving the series. But think u should catch a syther in instead of farfetched and just teach that cut better on level and defence
Kaizo Mario World: "I done whooped a lot of players ass in my day!"
Kaizo Pokemon: "Hold. My. Drink." *Gets out of his chair*
I'm surprised that blocking out the Lavender Town music with the bike's music is an effective strategy to avoid a copyright claim. You'd think the bike tune would be just as likely to get claimed considering how...
*grinds teeth*
...CATCHY it is...
I'm so hoping either today or tomorrow part 6 comes out
It's a good vid always enjoy them but it's a pity you couldn't raise Blastoise or gold duck because they were real good Pokemon probably they couldn't get that much experience or harder to raise I'm guessing
Without hunting for a good DV one they're not that great
What was he talking about the BG music for? Something with copyright and he can't let it play?
Since times of dinosaurs he's been whining about not being able to play music because this dipshits sites youtube, twitch insist on being as annoying as possible they don't care that's unnecessary wasn't a epidemic of freaks that for some reason they would get licensed for video game music and strike random channels. This is one reason I would never make content for CZcams they don't deserve it.
@@jojijohn7121Nintendo doesn't license the music, it's people making "covers" and basically "I made this", Nintendo doesn't claim it
1:21:17 Thank you ASPREY, but our Eevee is in another building!
Lavender town bence güzel şarkı seviyorum daha önce 5 kere dinledim
That makes me wonder, could you theoritically Metronome Mirror Move into another Metronome?
And then theoretically your metronomed mirror move metronome chooses mirror move into another metronome which then uses flash which fails.
Metronome is NOT affected by Mirror Move.
In vanilla gen 1 you cannot mirror metronome.
If you mirror move after metronome it would mirror the move metronome spit out - not metronome itself
Could you metronome into Transform, then transform into the rival Pokémon for them to use Mirror Move and transform in to you? Or would they transform into themselves?
@@HaydnG266 It is possible and they would transform into themselves.
if you hold evolution of psyduck until 52 it will learn amnesia, watching the first video now, idk if that's still useful information
There's a place where you can capture a level 51 psyduck, so it really isn't worth delaying the evolution on your first one.
Wasn't there a person who wanted to trade for a flareon?
This is not Pokemon........ this game is called critical hit.
Fight trainer go heal, fight trainer go heal, fight trainer go heal rinse and repeat
Yooo new episode lets go
I wish I found this series later so I could have spam watched to my hearts content. Even 3 hours isn't enough
Why are you not getting nidoking? Celadon sells moonstones and you can give it dig and bubble beam. Also hyper beam in gen 1 has no recharge if it kills so could be something to add on your team for an extra move
Lol I'll be honest, watching your play can be infuriating at times. I'm just chanting "go trian in the grass, go train on wild mons" "stop switching to Pidgeot, let something else get the exp"
Did it help?
PIDGEOTTO USED EXPLOSION 💥
The only thing I don’t like is that he’s always on his bike and the music gets annoying 😭
Thats why gen 2 is a little bit better they fixed those gen 1 problems yet gen 2 is the most hated gen but I'm one of those weird people who love gen 1 and 2
Neither gen is hated
INVISIBLE SLIDE TILES!!? How DEVIOUS can u GET!? Lol 😆
Soda pop & lemonade must be how wrestlers fake all their stunts. Gives them back their hit points.
It's not "fake" wrestlers have died in the ring
Erika a cute
"Want to hear a joke? Egg vs horse."
It's funny cause the horse gets dead.
Huh?? What
Why farfetched over wartortle or even pikachu over Persian? And why not just see if you can get ice beam while you were in the store why waste time to go back?
Persian is really good since it has STAB slash with a 99.9% crit rate. Thats a lot of base power and speed
And that sweet payday dough
And he doesn't really use Farfetch'd, it's just there to use cut and sometimes be a sacrificial duck while it's in the party
I'd catch a Doduo and train it to level 44 (I think) so it learns agility.. Pidgeot is going to be more of a liability late game.. Trust me
Does Dodrio still get agility in Kaizo? The developer changed the learnsets.
@@yoseftreitman7226 nah Dodrio itself doesn't learn it.. You have to grind the first evolution.. I think it's intentional because Doduo has a limited moveset in this game too.. I was trying a first form run and noticed it shortly after beating Surge
Gym leader at 2:42:00
Rapidash has Hypnosis, right? Use it on route 1 and see if it's suddenly 100% accurate now!
How about this for a softlock? Red version. Beat the game up to celadon. Then beat all the trainers and lose all the money and items. But save one mandatory channeler in lavender tower. Then release everything except a lvl 100 chansey, Taurus or Snorlax with no ghost damaging moves. You might as well have a magikarp. But instead you have one of the best pokemon in the game, with no way of progressing or even trading it to a new game.
Red version because no wild mewoth with payday.
