***** Yeah, I geuss there are a hundred ways it could go, but I think that Anger's and Fear's fusion would be like a metaphor for "concoring your fear", and the only time you would do that is when you feel courage or bravery. I also don't think that Courage can exist for a long period of time. It's like losing your courage, after that you feel scared and angry at yourself. I think you can feel stressed before, after, and while feeling courageous.

I was expecting something about how everybody else's emotions are all the same gender they are, but Riley has two male emotions.
They explained that. It's cuz they took the easy way out

+K IRA I thought it was so people could say she'll identify as genderqueer later in life, or maybe that's just me. More likely they wanted a more diverse cast, not just females.
+K IRA It makes the other characters, like Riley's parents easier to "read," meaning you can easily tell they're the mom's emotions because they're all female and look like her, ditto her dad and the other students. Riley gets a bunch of different-looking and different gendered emotions for the simple sake of her being a main character and having to balance out the genders for 5 main characters.
+K IRA It's easier to just make all the other people's emotions the same gender so they don't have to be as creative in the designs.

+PinkChaos It's argued that all other emotions are just an combination of the main 5. Envy for instance is a combination of fear and anger; embarrassment is fear, disgust and joy etc.. etc..

I cried a bit when Joy did. Then again, who didn't? Absolutely loved the movie, though. And that from someone who gave up on Pixar a long time ago.
As for only five emotions, I do have hope for the next one, when Riley goes into puberty. ("What could go wrong?" Hehe!) I know if we get a new emotion, it's probably just love or something, but it would be awesome if the emotion was Horny... hahaha!

Just so you know, the five alone emotions are based off of the theory that you only have five emotions: fear, sadness, anger, joy, and disgust. All other emotions are combinations of 2 or more of the five. Like empathy is joy and sadness. Or boredom is disgust and sadness. Frustration is disgust and anger. Etcetera.

Those are values not emotions, they got that wrong in the trailer too and people often does that (like in the movie when the say people confuse opinions for facts XD)

I think that's a bit much. The idea isn't exactly original, and the plot is just _okay_. Some of the jokes are funny, but that's really it.

I'm not gonna lie, I wheezed when you said the imaginary friend we have to forget to grow up and be normal. But I didn't like bing bong. It makes me wonder, is there little people things inside my head, and the ones basically in charge are anger and sadness.. and joy has been pushed to the side, disgust and fear have it completely out for me.

Bing Bong was creepy if you ask me. When I first saw him I was like this dude is a villain. And I was thinking he was gonna betray them at the worst possible moment and try to forcibly take over headquarters so he can be with Riley out of his envy and hatred for being thrown away by her. Kind of like Lotso Huggin' bear, except not as likeable.
That would've been a more interesting plot twist than that touchless death he had...

+Cole Dupuy See, what seems to be going over your heads here is how much of a metaphor Pixar was trying to set up. The plot hinges on the fact that major changes (eg moving from Minnesota to San Francisco) give people lots of complicated emotions, shown by Riley's "real life" behavior. The various bits of her head are Pixar's best attempts at showing visually what happens inside during it all. So Bing Bong couldn't be evil, because most eleven-year-olds aren't swarmed by their old imaginary friends; the metaphor would begin to drive "real life", not the other way round. If you didn't pick up on that by the time they found Bing Bing, that's really Pixar's fault, but I thought it was fairly obvious. I admit to being afraid that he would screw things up accidentally, though.
Oh, and hey, Screen Junkies, if by some miracle you see this, do Princess Bride. I mean, It's about time.

The reason that there aren't any more emotions is because all other emotions are just a combination of those 5 (there is actually 1 more core emotion, surprise, that they didn't add as a seperate character, but instead they fused it with fear)
Maybe they wanted to add it as pre order bonus for the DVD.
Actually yeah they based it off the emotion wheel. Boredom is just a less intense form of anger, so anger in the movie handles the daydreams

I never had an imaginary friend, but I've had multiple versions of myself in different fashions wrecking chaos in my imaginary space which was a metaphore for my mind.
The one in charge used a pan with a super long handle to hit others across the face and subdue my emotions by force.
