    Flower Girl's power is a lot less useless than folks seem to think. They live in an agrarian society, someone who can grow a year's worth of crops in like 30 seconds would be invaluable. But, for some reason, all she's allowed to do is flower arranging.

      It's said in the novelization that Isa actually doubted if her abilities were useful to the community. It's because Abuela lived vicariously through Isa and encouraged her to be more decadent than utilize her power. Abuela was preventing her abilities from growing because she projected on Isa.
      That's why her making a cactus caught off guard and was the trigger to create something more useful. She thought her abilities was merely making flowers, not knowing she can create a jungle's worth of plant diversity.

    I think Isabela is capable of growing agriculture, but was pressured from birth to be the ~pretty~ and ~perfect~ Madrigal, and didn’t develop her powers since she restrained herself. We saw she was able to grow more plants once she was more honest with her negative emotions. I would love to see like an Encanto II that explored more of everyone’s power evolving, and maybe Mirabel stepping into the role of Abuela since it seems like her “power” is being the core of casita.

    I like how the villain is "being gaslit by your grandma" instead of "the villain is grandma, who gaslit you". It's the same thing, but some people seem to have a hard time holding two facts in their head at once (Abuela's a good person who was traumatized and is doing her best AND her the way she treats her kids and grandkids has consequences). So it's good to say the villain is emotional abuse, not the villain is a traumatized woman. For those people who can't see that both can be true.

    • @kumikor3392
      @kumikor3392 Před 2 lety +264

      I always add into the argument that while Abuela did gaslight everyone in her family, she never gave them expectations she didn't live up to herself. Always perfect, always strong, always working? Abuela did all of that while raising three triplets alone and taking care of everyone. There's a reason she's the pillar of the village. She gaslit everyone because she didn't realize she was carrying too much on her own shoulders. She just assumed that they would be fine because she did it herself.

      My theory is that those villager predictions had nothing to do with Bruno’s powers.
      1. She’s walking around with a goldfish in a fish bowl. A goldfish isn’t going to have a long lifespan living like that. Bruno was just making a reasonable observation
      2. The guy was probably eating a LOT, and again, Bruno made a simple observation
      3. Bald guy probably had hair loss in the family. Again, it was a hypothesis based on a simple observation
      You don’t need magical powers to notice these things. Bruno either made reasonable guesses in response to being harassed by villagers OR he just blurted them out because he lacked a filter

    Somebody might’ve already thought of this, but my theory is that everyone’s gift was supposed to make up for a personal deficit/fear
    Luisa = fear of being incapable
    Camillo = doesn’t know who he is
    Dolores = fear of missing out
    Bruno = fear of the unknown
    Abuela = fear of losing her home again
    Antonio = social anxiety
    And so on
    … but Mirabel didn’t need a gift to be whole so she didn’t get one.

      To be more accurate: generational trauma. She passed on her own trauma. It's not like she was completely fine and decided to torment them just because she's the matriarch.

    the one who can shape shift. i mean his power isn't useless, they show it working for what it is needed in the show when he takes over for that mom so she can get a nap in. that could be very useful for things, plus he can shape shift into bigger people to help hang a banner like its shown, yes isabella had a pretty useless power at the start since all she did was make flowers. but at the end very very usefull, from probably edible plants to trees for wood that they can just cut down and grow back without having to destroy their forest around their town.

    The song satire lyrics were perfect. They really do all need therapy. Multi-generational trauma squirts out in all the directions if not addressed.
