ALBUM: Barcelona
TRACK 05
LYRICS:
The boy had a way with words, he sang, he moved with grace
He entertained so naturally, no gesture out of place
His road in life was clearly drawn, he didn't hesistate
He played, they saw, he conquered as the master of his fate.
The girl had an iron soul no-one could recognise
Material ambition that her gentleness disguised
She gave herself to him certain of his fame
Wanted him for luxury, for limelight and his name.
And then he sang to her
I love you for your silence
I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases
That sweep into my soul
That slowly take control
I love you for your passion
I love you for your fire
The violent desire
That burns me in its flame
A love I dare not name
His rise was irresistable - he grew into the part
His explanation simply that he suffered for his art
No base considerations of some glittering reward
The prize was knowing that his work was noticed and adored
I love you for your silence
I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases
That sweep into my soul
That slowly take control
Yes he told the truth
Accepting every honour with a masterly display
Of well rehearsed reluctance to be singled out this way
He started to believe that he was all they said and more
While she forgot - she forgot the reasons she had wanted him before
I love you for your passion
I love you for your fire
The violent desire
That burns me in its flame
A love I dare not name
The still and calm releases
That sweep into my soul
That slowly take control
And when at last they fell apart she wished that she could be
The hardened heart of yesterday, as cynical as he.
By changing for the better, she had changed things for the worse.
The words that made them happy once now echoed ... echoed as a curse.

2:34 Opera suddenly becomes Gospel...woah! Then blends... then back into Opera at the end... what a genius.
Well and truly ‘A Night At The Opera’... Eh?...No?...
@@jckon yes
One of a kind for sure 🤍
When I first listened to this, my face just lit up, and now I'm back again, same thing happened.
Freddie Mercury мало того , что превосходно исполнил все эти невероятные композиции с Monserrat Caballe, так он их ещё и сочинил!!!!!Это фантастика.
Freddie the divine golden child. This song is so amazing that it is hard to describe...a part from the fact he put gospel with opera in such a fluent and natural way. This kid of genres was the genius of Freddie Mercury.
I can't understand how a man can invent such a beautiful opera such beauty it touches my heart and soul!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Mozart, sorry Beethoven, Freddie is the Number One.
LOL ;)
This is why pieces like bohemian rhapsody are still known, freddie was similar to Mozart but in rock times.
Mozart its GOD, but Freddie its Jesús xd, most the same
Freddie is unreachable! Not only does he sing this better than anyone else can, he also wrote this great music... Where does this incredible person's talent end?
yes unfortunately for us he was taken far too early. He was a visionarie who had a talent for making those around him feel happy.
Sir Tim Rice wrote the lyrics
he was a graphic artist, talented in drawing, so his talent was also in art
Art is eternal
@@jckon Freddie was involved in writing lyrics as well as Moran
The story Freddie tells in this song has more depth than the top 100 of hits today combined
Just when I didn't think I could love Freddie any more.. This is absolutely stunning!! 💕
Look at the video if you get the chance. Montserrat looks like she's having more fun than she has ever had, and Freddy looks like he's nervous in front of his teacher.
Sounds like Freddie wrote this about himself and Montserrat. what a masterpiece!
I think it's emotions lingering in his memory surrounding his relationship with Mary Austin. She was a very quiet person having parents who were hearing impaired. If he had time I bet it would have been developed into a musical. Maybe it can be....
He didn't write this, Tim Rice wrote this and The Fallen Priest
Unbelievably superb 👏 👌 🙌 😍 👍 😀
Both now at peace....
...and let light perpetual shine upon them! ❤
this song is awesome, hands down one of the best ever
Two great songs on this album: fallen priest and golden boy (extraordinary, thoughtful lyrics, which is quite hard to be found both in opera and pop)
Freddie Mercury's Opera days are MY absolute FAVE!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Mamm d Christ
@4:30 that's perfect musical poetry of the slow moving backwards echo of terminal depression after a soulless loser missteps
