One thing I've noticed about Obari's character design: The "prettier" a character is meant to be, the more it looks like they've been crossbred with a fish.
There was only one scene in VBS that stuck with me. STAND basically has a civil war with regards to dealing with Raven's betrayal and Bogard wants the rest to swear absolute obedience to the new government or face a brutal battle. Serge de-amors and tells Bogard he will not register. But Serge then states that under no circumstances will he raise a hand against Marcus because he admires and respects the man so much for his honor and dedication and right now he must stop Raven. You have no idea how badly I wanted this scene to happen during Marvel's Civil War where heroes violently attack their former allies over politics. It was such a powerful moment seeing Serge refuse to fight Marcus simply because he knows how much a hero the man is; yet will still stand by his convictions and not register. That was so much more powerful than anything Mark Millar wrote for that dumb comic. It was such powerful and moving characterization that I'm surprised it came from Obari. I guess people can surprise you.

I think the chance that Obari might be bisexual is a lot more likely than him being straight up gay. Your video gave me the realization that I rarely watched an Obari anime for the plot. Except for Bubblegum Crisis. It was mainly for the male eye candy. I looked at the anime cover and went: "This dude looks HOT...I'll rent this."
I actually got around to watching all of this after taking a break and... despite myself, it's actually pretty good. I got invested in the characters and the conflict and the resolution felt fitting and cathartic

The boobs are huge but... unrealistic, and are situated too "down" anatomically. But what kills it for me are the faces - all his females have these weird giant cheekbones and tiny chins with small triangular mouths. They look like starved hamsters.
I think, with the recycling of characters throughout Obari's work, that he was trying to do what Osamu Tezuka used to do. Tezuka would also reuse characters in his manga and anime, though I'm sure to greater effect in his large collection of works. It makes me giggle when I see a recognizable character in Obari's anime.

I remember buying the first three episodes on disk. It was like the third DVD I ever bought. i was really excited watching the first episode. Big fight, and it was exciting. By the second episode I didn't understand what was going on. By the third I still didn't know what was going on and nothing seemed to be happening. I was too young to understand GAY. Never finished the series and barely remember it now. But now, wow, what an eye opener!
Comparing Liefeld to Obari is ridiculous. Obari has a stupid way of drawing humans, but that's just his personal style - unlike Liefeld who just sucks at drawing the human body, Obari is very capable of drawing far more anatomically accurate and normal humans when animating other people's designs and has clearly spent ages studying both male and female anatomy because being an animator is really, really hard and you have to know how to draw in basically any style. It doesn't surprise me that Bennett ignored when a friend and I tried to point that out to him though - can't let facts get in the way of epic internet burns.

Obari does it WITH ALL of his things ... even his own mechs. SRW fans knows the smell of Obari in a mech by his signature action poses , looks (stylish shouders and foot) and even the titular faces on it. Even, he reuse action scenes and poses too , and a really major example and i hope you cover this one up in the Obari month ... the 2nd animated version of Super Robot Wars OG directed by Obari ( SRW OG inspectors , who cover up the events from SRW OG2 game) get some cameos from one of his previous mech serie called Gravion (one of the mech is called Sol Gravilion , like the better gattai version of Gravion , Sol Gravion. and its even sub piloted by 2 guys resemblancing the main males from said anime , and to make it more funny , are voiced by the same V.A)

I actually watched an episode of Dangaizer a couple of days ago.
I remember buying the first three episodes on disk. It was like the third DVD I ever bought. i was really excited watching the first episode. Big fight, and it was exciting. By the second episode I didn't understand what was going on. By the third I still didn't know what was going on and nothing seemed to be happening. I was too young to understand GAY. Never finished the series and barely remember it now.
But now, wow, what an eye opener!

Oh Obari you always find a way to make me laugh, even though that probably wasn't your intention.
Comparing Liefeld to Obari is ridiculous. Obari has a stupid way of drawing humans, but that's just his personal style - unlike Liefeld who just sucks at drawing the human body, Obari is very capable of drawing far more anatomically accurate and normal humans when animating other people's designs and has clearly spent ages studying both male and female anatomy because being an animator is really, really hard and you have to know how to draw in basically any style. It doesn't surprise me that Bennett ignored when a friend and I tried to point that out to him though - can't let facts get in the way of epic internet burns.
