I was about 12yrs old listening to my little plastic am radio under my pillow so mum wouldn't hear it tuned into radio Luxembourg. I was listening to all the heavier rock like sabbath etc when this amazing sound hit my ears and I couldn't get enough of it. I missed the name of the band as mum walked into my room to make sure I was asleep and be up for school and had to wait until the next week before I found out it was a track called LIAR by a new group called Queen. I bought their new single Keep Yourself Alive and Queen 1 lp and was hooked. I took the album to school but the other kids hated it as only interested in Alvin Stardust and Bowie, I didn't care I'd found my new love and loved the music ever since and been firmly hooked.

I loved watching you talking about Freddie. I’m a straight guy, but I love Freddie Mercury. It broke my heart into a million pieces when he died. I have wept many times since 1991 over the loss of this beautiful, unique human being. I still miss him and I still cry sometimes when I hear certain songs and realize all over again that Freddie Mercury is gone forever.
I thank you for posting this video. He’s the greatest, most beautiful singer who ever lived or who ever WILL live. Liked and Subscribed.

I was 14 then, I'm 17 now. In 2018, I didn't watch the movie when it came out, I was familiar with Queen but not a big fan or anything. At Christmas that year my Aunt died due to cancer. She was a massive Queen fan. We Are The Champions and Who Wants To Live Forever were playing during her cremation. It was really sad but weird, because I couldn't help but mime along to these songs, I knew them but I didn't know them. Again, a weird feeling.
I looked up Who Wants To Live Forever and was mesmerised by the video, vocals, live versions, everything! I was curious and searched through their surface level songs.
The first song I listened to was Another One Bites The Dust and It sounded very familiar. But, when I reached Radio Gaga, the thing that has kept me a Queen Fan since, happened. Freddie sang the chorus and I had a flood of memories and visions. I was in my great grandmother's sitting room looking at the TV, I must've been 4 or 5 or so. It was Freddie, white vest, light blue jeans, moustache and all, singing Radio Gaga on stage. LIVE AID! My great grandmother was a queen fan, she had live aid recorded on VHS. This was mind blowing to me, I've listened to a bunch of Queen songs when I was younger, bonded with my dad and great grandmother over them, and had just forgotten over the years.
I wanted to know more about this performance and was greeted with a 20 minute video called Live Aid 1985. Looking at the thumbnail I saw Freddie in that outfit. "Your Majesty, QUEEN!" Freddie came out running with Brian, Roger and John behind him. I was pumped. What an entrance! He sits and plays a few notes of the piano and starts singing something so powerful, emotional, fantastic, but interestingly very familiar. I stopped the video and searched up the lyrics to get the name: Bohemian Rhapsody. I listened to it. Let's just say, I fell in love with that song. So tender and whimsical. I wanted more, I continued with live aid. Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, I toke note of them all and enjoyed Freddie's performance a lot.
From that point on, I've watched the film and dived into their back catalogue of music. I've been taking my time, I'm still exploring to this day. Though Covid 19 sucks, it has given me a bunch of time to listen to more Queen. I'm just in absolute awe with this band! Just Marvelous Musicians! You Take My Breath Away is my favourite Queen Song and I've decided that it will be played at my wedding, if I ever get married (probably not). If you haven't listened to it, you should.

I was a bit late to the party and only really discovered Queen around 1981 when 'Under Pressure' reached No. 1. I was 12 years old. By 1984 'The Works' album had been released following on from 'Hot Space' and that's when I was totally hooked on Queen.
1984 was a great year for Queen. In the UK charts 'The Works' album peaked at No.2 and produced 4 Top 20 singles. 'Radio GaGa' (No.2), 'I Want To Break Free' (No.3), 'It's A Hard Life' (No.6) and the brilliant and, I think, underrated 'Hammer To Fall' (No.13). Freddie also had a solo Top 10 hit with 'Love Kills'. They even found time to finish off 1984 with a Christmas single 'Thank God It's Christmas'.
I was lucky enough to win tickets to see Queen at Knebworth Park in August 1986. There were a 120 000 of us! It was the last date of 'The Magic Tour' and sadly turned out to be the final concert with Freddie and Queen. They never toured 'The Miracle' album in 1989 and for obvious reasons were unable to tour the Innuendo' album in 1991.
So glad you 'found' Freddie and Queen. It's never too late. 🙂

Who are you, and what are you doing in my life? ;) I mean you were 2 years younger, but that is more or less exactly my story. My parents had those two albums, I got "Innuendo" as a present from my mom earlier that year, my father died in May, same age as Freddie and then Freddie died and that basically kicked my interest into gear, because I finally understood why that album ended with "The Show must go on".
But what really solidified it was that a year later we were at my Uncle's and he had "Live in Budapest" on VHS and I asked whether Queen were any good live, considering how intricate and at times overproduced their songs were. He said: "They were the best live band ever" and put the tape on. That's when I was totally won over.

John Lennon was my favorite! Anyway, then I got into The Osmonds while my mom enjoyed Queen. She said their music was lovely. Her favorite song was BICYCLE RACE & SEASIDE RENDEZVOUS. In High School & college I dabbled in KISS, Van Halen & Aerosmith while my mom is listening to the QUEATLES (love that). Well, life goes on & three children later & grandkids my mom passed away from Alzheimer’s the very year the BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY movie was released. Because I was exposed to Queen by my mom I saw the trailer for Boh Rap and insisted that I see the movie!! FELL IN LOVE!! Starting researching Freddie & Queen to a point of obsession!! Now a massive fan. I share my obsession with my father cuz he used to be in the music industry so I love his input. I wasn't even planning on seeing that movie when it first came out but you could still watch it a few months later and I just ended up deciding on it one day when it was winter and I was bored and I really wanted to go to the cinema. I left the cinema feeling happy and I was reminded of how great they are and I found Freddie's story really interesting. The next day I put their music on shuffle on Spotify and I started watching reaction videos involving their music videos and that's how my love for them started to grow. I also followed other Queen fans on social media and so I was exposed to them daily and from there it went.
By the way, I'm also in love with Freddie! I mean, how can you not be?! I didn't even think it was possible to feel that way about someone that is no longer alive but here we are. It's almost enough to just hear his voice to fall in love, but then he also seemed to have the best personality and he was so pretty 🥰

I’ve been listening to queen since I was about eight years old. The first song I remember hearing was I want to break free. Me and my dad were in the car, and the song came on. I had heard it a few times before by that time, and asked who it was. He explained to me that is was queen, and when we got home, he pulled out their two greatest hits albums and put them on. I was hooked immediately, and for years, queen was practically the only band I listened to. I was obsessed with them. A bit like you were with the beetles. The first few years, I only listened to the hits, but when I was fifteen, I started to buy queen albums. It was like a whole new world opened up for me. Especially the first five/six albums were a musical journey through several different genres and styles. There was a time, however, when I stopped listening to queen for a while, that was when I discovered heavy metal. (Not that I didn’t like queen anymore, there were just so many other bands to discover and listen to). Then I heard the first two queen albums and was surprised by how heavy they sounded. Turned out queen basically started out as a progressive hard rock/heavy metal band, which made me love them even more. It’s been 26 years since I first discovered them (I’m 32 now) and i still love them. They’re still my favourite band of all time. I might drift away from them once in a while and move on to other things, but I always come back to them. Listening to queen after I haven’t heard them for a while feels like coming home from a long journey. They’re my safe space whenever I hit a rough patch in life. The one thing that I truly regret is that I never had the chance to see them live. How I would love to see them perform with Freddie. I’ve seen them a few years ago with Adam, and it was great. He’s a great singer and he does the songs justice. But still, it’s not the same without Freddie.

No dislikes, just as it should be. Great video! I actually have a similar experience to yours, but in reverse...I'm only 19, but my parents were mega Queen fans and raised me on their music. I always thought the Beatles's music was very cheesy and childlike, mainly since I want to hold your hand and she loves you got burned into my brain at some point in childhood, and I never bothered to look further than that. At least until last year, when my girlfriend made it her life's mission to indoctrinate me into Beatlemania. Safe to say, I have now been sufficiently humbled before the godly greatness that is John, Paul, George, and Ringo. And I'm even loving the cheesey kids tunes I used to hate on :)

I do remember liking Queen's more popular and played songs when they came on the radio. I was about 16 in the summer before the Queen movie came out when I deep-dived into their entire discography and listened to all their albums. I fell in love with how passionate all four members are with their music. I watched so many of their interviews & concerts and fell even more in love with them for their stage presence, how they connected with the crowd, and their personalities. I also thought they were simply gorgeous. I was going through a tough time in my life with having being bullied throughout school, the trauma given to me by homophobic students, teachers, and family members was stressing me out and tearing me down to the point where I could barely handle it anymore. Queen's music was there to make me happy, to comfort me, and inspire me. Honestly don't think I'd be here without their music.

My late brother introduced it to me when I was 14, because he had a friend who was a lead singer of a band, and the band covered that song in Malay language. My brother told me, this is the original song by Queen. Totally love that song. But, it was in the late 70's, no internet, no youtube, so I did not really know anything much about Queen except that they all had college degrees. That impressed me. Then I went to university in England from 1984-1990. That was when I really fell for Queen esp Freddie. Had a huge crush on Freddie. The movie Bohemian Rhapsody rekindled that, the crush, I mean. Freddie Mercury was and is my biggest crush and because he's dead, he will always remain so. Oh, by the way, I'm female, people get confused when they look at the profile pic... haha

I was mesmerised, only aged 10 so I was too young to go see them. But anyway, great early summary and as your story unfolds, it’s a great watch. When I was a kid, my dad bought a vynil compact disc with only 2 musics. Both was a live, from "Live Killers" The side B was "Now I'm here", a good rock. But my favorite song was "Love of My Life", just played by an acustic guitar. Since then, I passed to be a great fan. "I want to break free", "Radio Ga Ga" , "How can I go on" (Freddie and Montserrat), "Under pressure" (My friends and me used to say that David Bowie could be a 5th. Queen. "Cool cat" was like a soul music for me, and I believed that''s not Mercury singing. The movies "Highlander", "A knight's tale" and "Flash Gordon" had one or more soundtracks by Queen. But my greatest emotion was when Queen opened the first "Rock in Rio" (1985). Brazilian people don't speak english, but we knew every word in each singer. Specially "Love of my Life", when Freddie sang with the crew. We didn't forget that show. Last year I saw the movie 'bout Queen and I liked it very much.

We've all been there. Hating on the music that our parents listened to. Partially because we were almost forced to listen to it, due to it being played in the car or at home where you couldn't really not listen to it. You become resentful of it, and the feelings you have at the time tend to get revisited every time you hear it, for a number of years to come. But then, you mature and start to realise that music in all of its forms is a universal type of thing. Sure, there's some genres you're probable never going to get into, but there's also those you discover that you wonder how you ever managed without them. Queen, like a number of other groups that were predominant in the 70's and 80's, (which includes Quo), had a formula to them that was unmistakable. Or, at least, they were to those who listened to them(!) As a less than casual listener, I suppose they can kind sound same-ish, as they played the same types of instruments. Once you start delving into them, of course, their sound becomes far more defined. I'm kind of surprised you were into the Beatles, as that kind of goes against what I said initially. (Do I have to go back and delete that bit, now?) But, the fact that you were a big fan of them would actually show promise as far as, 'older bands', were concerned. And, Queen are, in a way, kind of a natural progression. Although, there's a few other groups who also had a similar vibe through the 70's that were firm favourites. But then, that's from a perspective of someone who grew up in the 70's!
My first experience of Queen was seeing, 'Killer Queen', on Top of the Pops in 1974. My fanhood, (is that even a word?), came into being and was cemented by that song that stayed at the top of the charts for 9 weeks. You know the one(!) Ever since, I've followed them. I really love their mid to late 70's albums. 'Sheer Heart Attack', through to, 'Jazz.' But having said that, I'm also rather fond of their 80's stuff and the 90's, too. You can't go wrong with them, really.

Then, one day a friend brought over a Queen record album, yes a vinyl record, and said you have to listen to this with headphones. So I dragged a couple of floor pillows over near the stereo and plugged us both in and started the record. As soon as I heard Freddie's voice I said "That is by far the best voice in rock!" Then Brian came in with a ripping solo and I said "And that is absolutely the finest guitarist in rock!" I was hooked at that point and still am.

If you asked me what the name of the group was I would have guessed Kiss or was that Queen? People gasp at that now. Could I name any song? No. In 2017 I learned just how confused I was when I caught part of a documentary of sorts on TV that was my intro to Freddie Mercury and Queen. My crush on FM is likely even bigger than yours but remember I 'm older and apparently making up for lost time.(: I was astonished - and grateful. It was Highlander for me, actually. The TV series was on when I was too young to watch it, but I saw a piece of it and it stuck in my mind, so I watched the movie as a teenager, and my father told me about how Queen did the whole soundtrack, and I was amazed that a rock band did that, I mean, it's unusual. I downloaded the album (I love listening to soundtracks, it's like rewatching), put it on my 1 GB music player USB Walkman, and it stayed there for years during high school, I basically know it backwards and forwards. I also went and watched a lot of the TV series. Also, The Show Must Go On - that stuck in my mind thanks to Moulin Rouge, and I guess I must have looked up the original and I just remember spending a lot of time thinking about how brave that was and how amazing he sings in it. So I've loved Queen for a long time - but the deep dive started a few weeks ago, when CZcams recommended the Live Aid side-by-side with the movie, and then I watched the movie, then immediately the Queen + Adam Lambert documentary (thanks Netflix for keeping me up so late), and then a ton of concert videos and interviews and the Days of Our Lives documentary...

Then I discovered the Peter Gabriel progressive era and love them since, it was 15 years ago... Then it happened again this year with another famous band : Tears for Fears ! I only knew the radio hits and thought it was ok, and for some reason I started listening to full albums and they are great ! You never know a band until you start listening to full albums ! And when I think of it retrospectively I think my musical journey make perfect sense : from Queen to Pink Floyd, then from Genesis to Peter Gabriel next to Kate Bush and Tears for Fears, I see the logic ! So the question is what is going to be next, where does Queen gonna take you, it never ends..

I can honestly say that I didn't think there was 1 bad song on _ANY_ of their first 8 albums, after that, not as much, but I think that's true of a lot of bands. For me I was the complete opposite I became obsessed with Queen and Abba, the Beatles and Status Quo actually. In fact I became more of a fan as the years went by but I used to listen to a lot of radio and record the songs onto tapes. My mum and dad ended up watching the Bohemian Rhapsody movie and my dad said to me later that he finally 'got it'.

I was born in 59. So I was around for Queen and didn't really like them. Discovered them last year. I don't love ALL their songs but I love them. Listen to them everyday. 💕

Hello Doe, I heard Queen first time in may -77, I had met my first love. And he introduse me to them. I ofcourse fall in love with Freddie at ounce. But I only saw a pict of them/him, we dont have net in -77 😉 it last only for a couple of years, my life change alout. I get much truble, and dont was with people who even now who Queen was, but I never forget either them or him. When I get up in the -80’s I heard a little of them again, but I had now ordinary life, all was a big mess 🥺 I try to kill myself several times! Well it was very much who happends. I heard they had been here in -82, omg I cry and cry and cry 😭 I was 13 first time I heard them. In 09, I get my f.b account and there I really saw Queen again, so many years after the first time. When I start listen to them again, and for the first time see them on YT omg I cry so much my b-friend think I was going crazy, snd he dont like Queen at all, so I listen to them when he was at work. He was a really big Beatles-fan. When it was over with him in -17, fet 8 years. I had by myself a little flat, but I get very sick when I lost him, I try to kill my self again, ater I had been at hospital and get home, I use my day on Freddie and Queen, I only listen to them, nothing outher than them! I hear at interwies, read everything about them, and hear there music over and over. Im still sick, I only have contact with some people on f.b, I think Im almoust all groups who are there with Queen and Freddie. And Im hear and hear of all you react on Queen, its not often I writhe so long in the comments, I Thank you so much for youre history 🌺 and welcome to the club 👑🔥♥️ I living now with Freddie and my cat now, if I not had have Freddie and Queen to listen to, I had been death now. So he save my life, Freddie is so spesial and mesmerizing,he can not bee of this world 🙏 when the goverment have got control over this shit covid-thing, the first I shall do is going to Garden Lodge, and Switzerland. That for sure.....love 👑♥️ I have two songs as my favorits, I recomend to you: Who whants to live forever, from the first evening on Wembley 07.11.86. A winther tale. Freddie wrothe that song in Switzerland, I think that was the last song he wrothe. He was sitting in his room sawing out on the Genève sea, and wrothe his thouths and what he was seeing outside, his not at the vid, but you seehis handwrithing...omg you must see that. The vid are about Freddies death, how he was daying. Incredible sad, have tissues 👑♥️😭😭

I envy you of your Queen journey. Queen has a huge catalogue of songs and most are great. Every member of Queen has written multiple no 1 hits. I was 20 when i first saw Queen in 1973. im a life long Queen fan and i love them now with Adam Lambert also. Never close your mind to music, tastes can be changed and good music is good music. Have you listened to Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin yet. 70's was the age of Rock and in my opinion, nothing beats it. Enjoy 🙂

People relate with Queen at different stages , and ages in their lives. No shame should ever be attached... People also forget that Queen did Flash , from the movie Flash Gordon. The whole soundtrack was Queen. Highlander 1 & 2 , Yes.... Queen again... Their talent they shared with us was truly before its time , yet is also timeless.... Taken from us far too early , rock on Freddie...

No problem, I've liked the band since the first time i've heard it, but somes songs took a time to made their way to my herat. First time i've hear "The Prohet song" I disliked it, because it was so strange with unusual changes of tempo and unusual harmonies.
It only needed some time and several listening to become my absolute favourite of the band. Precisely because it's unusual and original.
Took me also time to appreciate Led Zeppelin, ELP, prog rock in general.
And reversely, there are lots of songs or books that I liked when I was younger, and now I think are quite banal. Changing minds is a normal process, totally legitimate and I think it's great to ackwnoledge that yes, we were wrong at a moment because we did have not enough information. I think this is a very sane thing, that proves being a clever person. One should never be afraid to say that we changed opinions.
    Congratulations!

If as you claim you grew up in the 80s/90s, that makes you older than you look or sound from the language you use. To only get interested at the time of the film in 2018, that means you carried that staggering level of ignorance and prejudice well into adulthood.
Freddie died when I was 15. I used to listen to other pop and rock before he died, though Queen were my obsession. After he died I could not listen to them for many years and was introduced to and introduced my self to many other musical artists.
I would now say that my all time fave musicians are Freddie, Nina Simone, Laura Marling & John Frusciante. I also recon I have as diverse tastes as anyone. - In terms of my musical awareness, Freddie dying did me a massive favour as forced me to open up to so much more, this does not deminish how traumatic I found his death at the time.
Never restrict what you give a go in terms of music you listen to and never allow yourself to have genre barriers, there is only good and bad music and that obviously a matter of personal taste.

I’m a black American from the South Bronx. I saw Queen in concert on my 17th birthday in 1979. My birthday is 420. When Freddy died, there was a concert to commemorate Freddy, that aired all over the world on radio and tv. That was on my birthday too. Anyway to me, Queen was great until Freddy cut his hair and stopped doing his operetta style.
