    Night Prayer has played a big role in my spiritual journey. It has helped me end each day in trust in the Lord and confidence in His love. It has also helped me improve as a young man and remind myself of my death.
    "Night prayer is the last prayer of the day, said before retiring, even if that is after midnight" (GILH, no. 84). The Psalms that are chosen for Night Prayer are full of confidence in the Lord.
    If you do not know what the Liturgy of the hours is...
    The Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office or the Work of God (Opus Dei), is the daily prayer of the Church, marking the hours of each day and sanctifying the day with prayer. The Hours are a meditative dialogue on the mystery of Christ, using scripture and prayer. At times the dialogue is between the Church or individual soul and God; at times it is a dialogue among the members of the Church; and at times it is even between the Church and the world. The Divine Office "is truly the voice of the Bride herself addressed to her Bridegroom. It is the very prayer which Christ himself together with his Body addresses to the Father." (SC 84)
    "The hymns and litanies of the Liturgy of the Hours integrate the prayer of the psalms into the age of the Church, expressing the symbolism of the time of day, the liturgical season, or the feast being celebrated. Moreover, the reading from the Word of God at each Hour (with the subsequent responses or troparia) and readings from the Fathers and spiritual masters at certain Hours, reveal more deeply the meaning of the mystery being celebrated, assist in understanding the psalms, and prepare for silent prayer." (CCC 1177)
    I am excited to make more videos on this powerful prayer and how Christ has transformed my life through it.

    Wonderful video! Thank you for the instruction and inspiration! It’s very helpful. The only little suggestion I have is to use a candle that is in a glass or tin holder for safety reasons. There are also candles with LED lights (no actual flame). I know of someone who left a candle unattended and it was forgotten. It burned their house down. Thank you for making this video. Well done! Peace be with you! (Brenda Annan)

    Hey!! Thank you so much for these videos super thankful I just ran into you. i have a question or maybe a video request? I have had the Liturgy of the Hours books for the past couple months because I have wanted to start, but I just don't know how to separate the strings (there's so many and don't know where to place them). Can you maybe help, thank you and God bless!

      Hey thank you! Glad you appreciate these videos. The strings are bookmarks for each of the spots throughout the day so it is easy to flip to them. I usually put one at the Sunday of the week. One on the day of the week in the right week. And one on the saint/feast of the day. The one for the commons I may have to flip to depending on the feast day. That might seem complicated, but hopefully that helps. I may do a video on it so it is more clear. Peace! :)

    would it work for the liturgy of hours Archdiocese of Chicago?

    • @JeromeMontpetit
      @JeromeMontpetit  Před 8 měsíci

      It should. I am from Canada, but the liturgy of the hours do not really differ. If it is in English, then will probably be the same as the diocese of Chicago since it is the official prayer of the church. Thanks for watchingb
