  • Session #5 from the 2011 Torrey Bible Conference at Biola University.
Sandra Richter is Professor of Old Testament at Wesley Biblical Seminary and Affiliate Professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary. She received her MA from Gordon-Conwell and her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Harvard University's Near Eastern Language and Civilizations department. One of her particular contributions at Wesley and Asbury has been the creation of an Israel Studies program specializing in historical geography and archaeology. Dr. Richter has taught as an adjunct professor at Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, as an instructor at Harvard Divinity School, and as a teaching fellow at Harvard University. Her current research interests include ongoing work in the Book of Deuteronomy as well as the intersection between biblical law and contemporary environmental issues. Dr. Richter is a popular speaker in both academic and lay venues largely because she is uniquely gifted in bringing the technicalities of the Academy within the reach of the laity.

You are bringing the Old Testament alive to me in ways I had never perceived. I am learning so much background that makes this information infinitely more valuable.

We will have a clearer glimpse of Eternity, when we have a better understanding of why we keep the Sabbath.
"Be Still and Know...That YHWH is God ".
When our greatest Quest it's to know our heavenly father, We will Enter His Sacred Rest

I thoroughly enjoy Doctor Sandra's in depth teachings.

Here is the Will of the Lord!
"11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression".
    1 Timothy 2:10-14 (KJV)
The corrupted and God-dishonoring "Devil and his angels" will do the very opposite as we plainly see in our above example.

      @@earnestlycontendingforthef5332 read 1 Corinthians 14: 34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:11-15 in their book-passage context.
The instructions are to the Corinthian and Ephesian churches and guidance for sound doctrine through the church age. Just quoting verses without exegesis doesn’t win you favours with God!
You will do much better contending for the faith if you make a honest effort to understand ecclesiology and not cast self righteous, self indulgent, malicious slander.
Sandra Richter is not an elder or a pastor in a church. She is a an Old Testament scholar, author, international speaker, and professor!

      OK!
"As in **all the churches of God's holy people**, 34 the women must keep silent.
They don't have the right to speak......35 If they want to know anything they should ask their husbands at home. It's shameful for a woman to speak in church.
36 Did God's word originate with you? Are you the only ones it has reached?
37 Whoever thinks that he speaks for God or that he is spiritually gifted must acknowledge that what I write to you is **what the Lord commands**".

Here is the Will of the Lord!
Antagonistic to this woman, called Sandra Richter.
    And again.
"As in *all the churches* of God's holy people, 34 the women must keep silent.
They don't have the right to speak........ It's **shameful for a woman to speak in church.
36 Did God's word originate with you? Are you the only ones it has reached?
37 Whoever thinks that he speaks for God or that he is *spiritually gifted must acknowledge* that what I write to you is what the Lord commands."
    1 Corinthians 14:33-37 (GW)
If any are "spiritually gifted' they will obey Paul and "Acknowledge" "What the Lord commands".
    Right?
If they refuse, which I strongly suspect they will, then they are not "spiritually gifted" just as no woman is, who would dare defy the Lord's command on this issue, now plaguing the lax, unfaithful, Churches of Christendom today.

ECFTF, how quickly you speak in ignorance and twist the word of God to suit your emasculated pride. Paul spoke his opinion on women in the church not Jesus's.
When the desiples forbade the unknown man from doing healings in Jesus name. Jesus said don't interfere for whoever is not against us is for us. The Book of 2nd John is written to a woman who was the head of a church. She was being encouraged to continue her works. Jesus never once says a woman can't share the word of God.
