    In this video I wanted to go over my thoughts on the LG C1 as a gaming TV in 2021 not only will I be detailing what I like and don't like about it but I will also be talking about how much of an upgrade it is for older OLED users such as the C7. I also wanted to talk a little about the TV review/discussion community as well as update you on some things.

    I was like you when I worked at Target from 2002 to 2013. Other workers would get mad at me for telling the customers what actually would fit what they want instead of what the workers was trying them to get. One guy even pulled out a folder and tried telling me the info Target gives them is correct. This was when Blu Ray and HD DVD came out. He ended up telling a higher up and they told me I wasn't wrong but if I could avoid doing that to him and to ignore him lol.

    You absolutely nailed this with me! I have the C7 now, so this really spoke to me. Uncalibrated, I have definitely noticed the black crush and pretty bad game mode. I game in standard mode and even that is...I guess passable. Wondering when to make the jump. Looking for sharper detail, better tone mapping, more shade detail/less black crush and game mode that impresses and actually looks the way it should. Your videos are really helpful. Thank you!

    Great video!
    I wanted to ask a few question.I'm also planning to buy C1 to use as my PC monitor.
    1)Have you also tried the C1 in 1440p, 120Hz?
    I have a RTX 2080TI GPU (with HDMI 2.0 only), so I was wondering If it would be possible to play in 1440p, 120Hz and chroma 4:4:4 or RGB?
    2)I have a question about LG picture modes (when using TV as a monitor).
    Now I was wondering when you change your HDMI input name to PC (in order to get low input lag and 120hz, chroma 4:4:4 or RGB). Can you then also change the picture mode?
    At the moment I have a Samsung QLED. There you also have to change your input name to "PC" in order the TV to recognize your computer and to play with low input lag, 120Hz etc. When applied, you can't change the picture mode. It stays as a "standard" picture mode.I found a workaround. After connecting PC to TV, change the input name from "PC" to "Bluray player" and then you can change picture mode to "Movie", which has better picture settings (colors, contrast etc.), you will sacrifice a little bit of input lag. But it is barely noticeable.
    So I was wondering is there also a similar workaround with LG OLED-s? can you also change the picture setting to a better one, when using TV as monitor or are you locked to the "standard picture" mode ?
    Thank you,
    Chris

    Hi KG, really considering getting a C1, my playing time is 100% on FIFA and MLB the show (not interested in any other kinds of games). I did buy a CX last year, but the ABL (Auto Brightness limiter) was a pain while playing FIFA, I could notice the TV dimming on regular gameplay and it really bothered me, ended up returning it... Did u notice any ABL while playing FIFA or Madden? For me at least on the CX it was too agressive...

  • @kilik1979
    @kilik1979 Před 3 lety

    Hey, thank you for another great video.
    May I ask you . . . Do you happen to feel any difference in input lag when using Game Mode within the PC Mode icon, versus Game Mode using the traditional Game Console icon? I have the LG B9, and, I do love it. And I am lucky to have a PS5. I definitely prefer the 'pristine-ness' of using PC Mode (less colour banding and the added visual benefit of full chroma) but I really do feel a bit more lag. Especially with any game using the right thumb stick to move the camera. And I notice it in both HDR and SDR.
    Anyway, thank you in advance.

    • @MrChocobit
      @MrChocobit Před 2 lety

      On your B9 you need to use PC-Mode for the lowest inputlag. On the c1 there is no difference between game mode and icon on PC mode

    For a competitive FPS (mainly) player that would want the best out of gaming, would you say the 48 would be the best? Wouldn't the 48 have the lowest input lag? Also I've been wondering, but since all the sizes of the same model has the same pixel count (2160p), Wouldn't the 48'' have most detail since the pixels are more compact rather than spread out? I would say the bigger the TV would be more suitable for a larger room. I have a small bedroom that I want to either get the 48" or 55", but since I'm focusing on the gaming aspect, wouldn't you say the 48" would be the better choice? Less input lag, higher refresh rate since pixels are more compact? I'm not sure I need some ideas on this.

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  Před 2 lety +1

      Input lag is roughly the same amount across the sizes. I’d say if you can sdjust your seating in a computer chair or something get the 48 but if your further away and can’t adjust go for 55.

      Thank you. PS5 and PC gaming your probably going to want to lean towards the C1 or the G1 because you have VRR day one and if you ever plan on getting eARC with Sony down the line your going to run into a port issue for HDMI 2.1 if you ever want to fully utilize your devices. However if you don't think you need the extra HDMI 2.1 ports the Sony TVs are better looking in terms of image quality.

    The best in-game scene you show is the strip of moonlight in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. The LG C1, that strip of moon light looks so dead and muted where on the Samsung QN90A, the light of the moon was so bright and vibrant. Use that same scene KG. It’s very telling. Please use that scene on the A90J and A80J Oleds and let’s see if it can brighten up the moonlight strip on the snow in Assassins Creed Valhalla. While I know LG oleds are the best oleds for gaming , I’m a disappointed by Sony’s gaming reviews (perhaps counter intuitively 😂). I’m really hoping Panasonic can be both a great gaming tv and a great movie tv . Otherwise it’ll be tempting to get an A90J and a LG B1 (as well as a mini led for the side room ). You'll notice the benefit of that low response time with higher framerates and refresh rates even more: basically where an OLED can appear ''stuttery'' with 30fps content it appears extremely clear in high-fps/refresh rate content because of that fast pixel response time. Basically if you play 120fps @ 120hz locked and turn off motion blur, there really is barely any blur or smearing. It's even better than the fastest TN gaming monitors (the 144hz versions at least, I'm not sure if even an OLED at 120 can keep up with a gaming monitor locked at 240 for motion clarity... experts please chime in!) when it comes to motion clarity. But your assumption was correct: the reason the C1 feels/looks better than the competition's LCDs for 120hz/fps content is that pixel response time :) Some people prefer LCD's for lower framerate contents due to the natural extra blur smoothing out the motion, but those of us who're into higher fps/hz content and motion clarity will always prefer OLED.
