Sony A95L vs LG G4 is the one comparison the majority wants to see. Do it Caleb 🙏
A95L has over sharpening issues along with a bunch of others. For the minor improvements in PQ in rare occasions the A95L has, the G4 is much cheaper, better warranty, more software and tweaking options.
I really wanted the A95L. But after watching all the reviews and seeing user feedback, it's G4 for me.
I had the S95C last year.
A lot of people are saying QD is the future it’s the way to go with color pop good accurate color pop for the Sony and the Lg panel is old tech and you’re not getting you’re money worth. Am I missing out on something if i don’t get a panel with out QD. Is Sony superior to all the tvs. Which tv is 1st 2nd & 3rd place
@@Questions4ALL Sharp QDEL is what Sony needs to adopt in their TV's.
Not even QD-OLED can compete vs QDEL from Sharp.
@@Questions4ALL your money is best spent where you’re going to be happy. These tech companies claim their new marketing venture is the very best! Until a couple years later when something else comes about. I wouldn’t worry about best, but rather what you prefer. What is important to you.
Sony A95L QD-OLED trumps the LG G4 by a big margin as far as image sharpness and color saturation is concerned; moreover the A95L has much better, richer sounding built-in speakers than the LG G4
I have a g4 and it's hands down the best TV I have ever seen let alone owned. The picture quality and brightness is insane
My g4 65inch arrived today. Will be installing in about 4 hours 🎉😅😊
What did you upgrade from? I have a G4 55". Upgraded from a C2, even from a C2, so impressive.
@@jb7753 upgraded from a c1
Very impressive tv
My c1 had a dead pixel on arrival and always bugged me
This panel is perfect
blacks look a lot better on LG
Indeed
Damn that's racist...😂 Jk.
@@bigcdub🤭😄😁
I just pulled the trigger... I got the lg4. Can't believe this is so expensive
@@markmonaco70 Nice!
I spent 2 months obsessing over this videos to chose the beat TV for me, decided to go for size and bought an S90C 77'' I LOVE IT but I have to stop watching this Chanel before I start doubting myself 😂
You bought the best TV deal in history probably, specially now that the S90C is like $1650 for 77"
@@yonkocommander5531 I got the TV, a q930C soundbar, calibration, installation and wall mounting, delivery, 3 top hdmi cables, 5 years of insurance for just around 2.8k (the S90C is heavily discounted in Switzerland but not quite as cheap as in the states) the other options I had in mind (s90d, s95c/d, G4 and A95L) were all between 4.5/6k just fornthe tv
As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
You got a great TV. I have the S89C and it is glorious
2023 models are always going to be cheaper because store's are selling them at clearance prices.
Beautiful TV that, enjoy!
I have the 77G4 and the 55S95D. I know a lot about tv’s and have tested these side-by-side:
PS5
- G4 is brighter in apl
- G4 highlights certain aspects more, for example lighting on walls
- Colorvolume is a bit better on S95D, sdr is a different story
- G4 has better contrast in a room with lighting on
- G4 has better clarity and motion
HDR:
- A bit better colorvolume for the S95D
- Overall the G4 is brighter, sharper and has better motion
SDR:
- The S95D has noticeable better colorvolume
- Noise reduction is better on G4
- G4 can get brighter
Still i found them not to be a lot different, but i like the brighter hdr on the G4. Strangely sdr can’t push G4 colors as hard as HDR. This is my personal take having these 2 tv’s a while now
Thanks for doing this breakdown😊
But how can the S95D have better color volume if they both cover ~100% of SDR color volume?
@@Sinier940ns95d oversaturates reds which gives the impression of more color
Where do the A95L stand in this
@@truthx7 Yes this is so noticeable in Ghost of Tsushima.
The red hue is too dominating and oversaturates annoying af!
Caleb please do LG G4 vs Sony A95L
yes Caleb!
Bravia 8
please Caleb do G4 vs A95L, and make the latter an unarguable winner, ha ha ha
@@YoungDennegative ghost rider. C4 VS B8.
Really good and fair comparison! Loved the intro!
This should have been the A95L vs G4, IMO.
Yes. Processing and color accuracy is better on the Sony. The brightness is impressive on the G4.
Agree, it’s like no one wants to do A95L vs G4 ….
Agreed. Samsung is not in the conversation at all. I can't spend this much money and get no dolby vision, matte screen, aggressive dimming, poor color accuracy, poor qc, etc. Samsung are not a serious competitor. They should wake us up when they're ready to try.
@@gallynuts
I think out of box color accuracy is best on G4. I’m not sure what the results would be after calibration but the G4 definitely has more natural and realistic color to my eyes. I also find the image on the G4 cleaner and more detailed than on the A95L. I’m not convinced the processing on the A95L is any better than the Alpha 11. It may be but I’m just not convinced yet.
@@OgoTheKeeper Not to forget the 40gbps bandwidth limit. He says it's not an issue, but it actually is. Remember that fancy 144hz that these screens come with? PC gaming at 4k@144hz + 10 bit color = 40gbps isn't enough, so it switches to DSC to compensate. DSC is fine but the S95D constantly goes to black screen when switching from windowed to exclusive fullscreen for games and applications, 3 to 5 seconds each time. That's so beyond aggravating that it's a complete dealbreaker as far as I'm concerned.
What a shame we didnt get Sony A95L in the comparison. I know it is not new, but it carries over and I expect it would still do well against these two ?
Guess I have to wait for a follow up, or a different reviewer
Samsung is the best for me .can you do comparison for sm s95d and Sony a95l
Brother i love your reviews and these comparisons, they must take a lot of work to produce. Can't wait for the Bravia 8 comparisons. thanks always.
G4 for me at Black Friday time😊
I've seen both of these televisions in person. They both look fantastic!!! Close your eyes, point, and which ever your finger lands on, you've gotten yourself a fabulous television. The only thing that I didn't like with the G4 is that it gets extremely hot. I put my hands on the screen and wow, that thing gets extremely hot in comparison to the Samsung. So if you're buying the G4 as a room television and you're pairing it with a gaming PC that gets hot, then you had better keep your AC running all day.
Thanks a bunch, I’m probably going for the S95C as it’s on run out at the moment :)
The video I've been waiting for.
I'm looking forward to buying an 83" LG G4 in the future! LG has taken their OLED's to another level with the G4's 11th Gen. Processor.
Thanks for the video Caleb! I was wondering if the difference in black level is as noticeable in person as it is when watching on my phones screen?
Got 65, S95D for 2500$ (including installation). Absolutely love it, can watch TV with full sunlight coming. No regrets as G4 and A95L both are around 1100-1000$ more expensive here in India. Absolutely love the matte finish. I find DV overrated for streaming services, dynamic mapping on TV itself works pretty great. Calibrated the TV using my phone, then switched on the bell and whistles I like.
What is the price of s95d in INR ?
2.6 lakh
@@recordedanemone6399 Thanks.
great video, thanks! I went for the LG G4. Absolutely stunning tv
Great video Caleb. Is the blue hue on the whites on the G4 jyst a camera thing?
I went at my local Best Buy and compared both TVs. The S95d anti glare is magical, the G4 is impressive but there was so much glare it was distracting, I have 4 huge windows in my living room so im sticking to the S95d
right. its magicial. this is what 90% of the people are saying when they see the S95D in person
From what I've heard, the "magic" is only there in extremely lit room like Best Buy, in a dark room the matte screen is unnoticeable
@@yonkocommander5531 right. It performs identical to a glossy TV in a dark room
My concern is how much brighter does the 95D have to be to push through the matte screen and does that increase its burn in chances
😂😂 I've seen all OLED TV's at best but, what glare are you talking about?bruh your comment comes out as disingenuous
Thank you for your great video and plain English
3,400$ and no Dolby Vision or Dts. Samsung gotta wake up and smell the coffee. (And I’m a long time Samsung customer)
DV is beyond overrated but I agree. For that price they should offer it
@@AlanMane No it’s not,DV demolishes any HDR content to clarity and colouring,Detailing,The reason Samsung don’t want to implement it and pay the license is because it rivals a inferior HDR10+
@@Jza-GZa40kDV has nothing to do with color. It's dynamic metadata is used for adjusting the tonemapping per scene. This is usefull for low end TVs that can't produce the full 1000 nits for HDR10. High end TVs like these can so it makes barely, if any difference. You can look up comparisons online.
@@Jza-GZa40kon those tv with this brightness, dolby vision is useless. It is when your screen or projector cannot handle high brightness
No Dolby Vision isn't a deal breaker to me it has HDR10 and HDR10+ that's good enough. It's the lack of DTS, poor color accuracy, and matte coating that throws me off more.
G4 for me too Caleb😊
Great job on the review!
Great video. Just wondering how come you don’t review Philips OLED?
Caleb you are very good at reviewing TVs! 👍
Would also love to hear about these versus the A95L.
Very helpful thank you
Hi from the uk, Without a doubt, the best site for reviews/tests, 😊 I'm using you at the moment to choose between lg g3 or sony a84l, pulling my hair out, Thanks for the channel, my new go to ....🙏🙏

Im going with the S95D for my living room.
Do a LG G4 vs Sony Bravia 9 video please
yes Caleb!
I think Stop the FOMO has done that or is doing this in a few hours LIVE
Love the intro
I just bought the LG G4 77-inch today.😊
I got mine 2 weeks ago. Zero regret (except maybe the remote could be better). Enjoy!
How is the screen reflectivity? Minimal?
@@jas0707 Difficult to quantitatively answer this, it's a gloss screen so there is reflection, but it depends on where you're going to mount/sit it, and what's going to be reflected to the viewer position. For my case, it's in a room I can banish all light so I prefer gloss to matte screens for full light transfer without diffusion. Having said that, it's less reflective than the 2018 Samsung NU8000 it replaced. I would strongly suggest you compare, in-store, this display to diffuse screens if you think it may be an issue if you are going to have strong reflections.
@@MysticCoder Yeah! men LG should upgrade their remotes it feels so cheap plastic sht I hope more people complain about this so LG one day listen to their customers and bring a aluminum solar powered remote.
Ooh man here i was expecting a review between the a95l and lgg4 still not decided what to buy between those tv's. Was waiting for your review Caleb. Please make a review.
You could: watch his last year's comparison "A95L vs G3 vs S95C" ... and consider the G4 shows a small general increase in brightness, a noticeable increase in game mode and a noticeable improvement in picture processing due to the next gen processor (closing the gap to the A95L almost fully).
Basically it seems to be a good idea to wait for the G4 price to fall and then pick one ... the A95L will most probably remain on it's high price...
Good video. Any chance of doing an 85 inch Bravia 9 vs 98 inch TCL 851g (2024 QM8) video? Im really interested if you would pick the size of the TCL or the quality of the Bravia 9. Thanks.
Hi Caleb, Have you done a video review on Sony ULT Field 7 ?
LG G4 for me!
Purchased S95C 77" a month ago for $2,699. I'm good for the next 3-5 yrs. Both great TVs, good comparison video
Where did you snag it for such a great price?
Yuck, I got a 77” S90c direct from Samsung for $1450, modded it thru service menu to match S95C. $1200 less to get the same thing
@@HotWingsAndBeer It's still a shitty samsung.
How to mod it? @@HotWingsAndBeer
@@HotWingsAndBeerwtf how you get those prices? Amazing deal
I was between these two TVs, and just pulled the trigger on a 77" G4 two days ago. The deciding factor for me was something I don't think was mentioned - warranty! The LG has a 5-year warranty on their panel that covers burn-in. That was the key selling point that pushed me to LG.
Samsung offers 10 year warranty when u register your tv.
Can I ask which country you get this warranty, in the UK I can't see this info
@@jereaaltonen3655 Provide a source if this is true, because I can't find anywhere on Samsung's website that their OLED TV's can be covered under warranty for 10 years, including burn-in.

Thanks for the great review. I'd still look for last year's LG G3 at a significantly lower price.
Thanks both are good.Depends on money.
Excellent vs video DT 🎉 if i had to choose lg would be a better choice warranty and better built quality.
8:27 The cuts between the TVs here made me imagine the TVA keeping an eye on the Hop Wei for some reason.
I am from Kenya and i just trust every review from Caleb without a doubt.
how about a review on the best turn table and then your favorite turn table!
finally, a video where you actually picked your favorite. i do appreciate this as you normally don't do this. i have the 77 inch G4 and love it.
Excellent review as always, Caleb. I love how you point out that most really people don't care about things looking accurate, they just want a tv that pops. I think alot of us get caught up on the data rather than what we prefer. However, I went with the G4 as I am one of those people that cares about the data 🤣
I hope to get a G4 at some stage. Dolbyvision and DTS in particular is important to me and my TV area is okay for day time viewing.
Great video
Do you plan to review the 97 inch G4?
Where do you Rank the Sony A95L with these two?
I have a old Samsung 55 inch curved TV from 2015 it was one of the first of Samsungs 4k tvs. I love the fact is supports DTS and because of this I now would probably go with the LG
Everything was great , but is it possible to compare sony a95L with those two? i know it's another generation but i would like to know your opinion on it. Also does anyone in chat knows how does sony handle warranty regarding dead pixels or burn-in? do they change the pannel like LG or?
Good video but one very important PQ aspect that was not referred is papel uniformity across the different greyscale levels. It’s supposed to be a QD-OLED strenght but unclear how it compares to the G4. @Caleb can you please provide some insights on that? Thanks a lot!
For UK users, there's no Freeview guide button on the Samsung remote. For my S95B, I had to buy a separate older style Samsung remote to get a smooth experience. The same is true of the Samsung remote shown there.
I would love a S90D vs G4 for Price vs Perfornace video! I consider myself a video enthusiast but without seeing both TV’s side by side I will have to say that I would be extremely content with either of these TV’s =)
Using an antenna for locals, I like having the number buttons on the remote.
In a hypothetical comparison with the Sony a95L, how would it be with the G4 and the S95D, thanks
APL is an underrated aspect of picture quality and I’m glad you discussed it in this comparison. But how do these TVs differ when it comes to auto dimming in darker scenes due to APL?
Sony A95l? How does it compare to the 2024 TVs?
When are we getting A95L vs G4?
I know they're both good b/c they have top end processors and such, but I have questions about the onboard OSs: 1) does one boot into app content faster than the other? 2) does one buffer live content faster than the other? Using the hard line connectors on 1g/2g lan framework. I ask because my current C2 takes longer to buffer than the Roku ultra when plugged into the same switch, to the effect of live TV being 1-3 seconds ahead on the Roku than WebOS.
People that have cable or an antenna connected to their TV, having physical numbers is a must have.
Ok now time for the a95l vs g4!!!
Got a 77 G4 for 3000 €, I'm happy with that purchase. Currently waiting for a Sony Bravia Theatre Quad deal to go with it.
I went with the S95D because I'm not rich enough to have a light-controlled room dedicated to watch films in filmmaker's mode.
It's a game changer, no two ways about it. And the sound is way above average if you hang it on the wall.
Most people will benefit from the high quality antiglare coating.
But the people that haunt these sort of comment sections are wannabe home theatre min maxers that will turn their nose up at something for the perception of 'inaccuracy' and 'contrast' and lack of high end dolby features, while acting like they have perfect light control over their living spaces all the time.
It's a pretty simple equation - if you have bright light sources reflecting off the TV (sun/reflections/lights/etc), you'll want the TV that counteracts that. If you don't, then you'll probably want the TV that's more color and motion accurate.
@@Zaptruder You said it even better. And if you control all the factors in the "dedicated home theatre" that everybody keeps talking about like they're millionaires then you should get a Laser TV.
Turn on MI on the S95D, the sound of the TV will be much more cinematic and full of life when there are events on the screen.
Curtains? That's what I use lol.
@@Zaptruder In your opinion, which TV has more color & better accurate motion
I'm more just thinking about LOW Bit and 1080p 10bit Content and which is better in every way for this ?
He said lower quality content is better processed by the g4
My last 3 purchases came down to Samsung v LG. And each time, Dolby vision was the deciding factor. Time to buy again, and not sure why I spend all the time researching the current models. DV again is the deciding factor.
Thank you for this video, I went to see both TVs for myself and I was supper impressed by the S95D! Too bad they don’t have an 85” QDOLED Also LG G4 has 5 years warranty and Dolby Vision and support for DTS
15:27 this happens on ALL 2nd gen Samsung panels after a recent software update. It does NOT happen on Standard/Eco mode, but Filmmaker and Movie mode currently have frame pacing issues on all 2nd and 3rd gen panels :(
I have both. I don’t hate!!!
LG
G4 vs A95L and Bravia 9 please❤
10:50 Example of the Jet black WOLED screen vs QD OLED with a mattee finish to boot.
Could you do a long term comparason between Sony A1 and A95L
I went with a G4 83" due to the totality of factors, but I have to admit that my "gut" remains jealous of QD-OLED. :) That "wow" factor is for reals. If there was an 83" S95D my decision might have been different.
I brought the lg g4 im a gamer/movie watcher & it made more sense since it was good at all of them if I was just a gamer I would of got the s95d
Which brand has better white backgrounds for say hockey games. I prefer bright white in these situations. Does the W in WOLED produce a purer white than the Samsung?
I Caleb, please do the Sony A95L vs LG G4!💪🏻🙏🏻
Alright that intro made me lmao! 🤣 Excellent
S95d remains my best choice if combined with a Samsung soundbar
Dolby Vision is the deal maker for me.
I will take either one over the bravia 9 , saw the bravia in person I rather have the infinite contrast over brightness and no blooming like I saw on the bravia 9 and the off viewing angles weren't great .
Does the 80+" models have mla this year or no?
I’m coming from a 75” Sony Z9D that I couldn’t bring with me when I moved out of my parent’s house to another state. Are the 85” Hisense U8N and the 85” TCL 2024 QM8 good options? or should I save up and wait to get the 77” Sony A95L, the 85” Bravia 9 or the 83” LG G4 on Black Friday? I mainly stream movies and shows on 1080p, watch a few soccer games here and there and play 4k blu-ray movies 2 or 3 times a month through my Panasonic DP-UB820. I don’t game at all. 90% of the time I watch TV is at night. Thanks in advance for replying!
Caleb, any idea why my c3 has low light flickering? Almost as if there’s a backlight that’s light is broken
You can see the color luminance of QDOLED in the works here. It's brighter in a lot of scene too but no mentioned about it, like the yellow feather scene.
But put the panel performance aside. For a complete package as a TV I think LG is better overall. From Dolby support to a proper implementation of HGIG for gamer.
uk G4 55,65 you can buy it With wall mount OR stand.
Could you do a video showing a Disney+ with a DTSX Audio comparison. I believe the integrated app on the LG supports this new feature when connected to a compatible receiver/soundbar
I prefer the qd-oleds for the colors. I think LGs w-oleds look a little sterile/cold or something like this. It's hard to explain and just my personal preference. Also it doesn't help to increase the colour temperature to a warmer tone on the LG oled, I've tried it.
I just purchased the 55in S90D and i find myself lowering the color volume on certain movies because it’s to much color pop. But playing video games or watching marvel movies with lots of color it’s excellent. Movies that doesn’t need extra color pop i find myself adjusting the color volume because i knows it’s over kill or that’s not the real color of the object or person. So it’s seems Samsung over exaggerate color and you find yourself adjusting every movie you watch to more or less color is it the same for the G4 and how do the A95L stand up against these.
I can't stand samsung's color scheme it's WAY over saturated and unrealistic.
Can you please compare less expensive models as well, C4 vs S90D, cheers
Going by previous videos I wish you would put a little more emphasis on the audio....I don't always go through my surround sound system....Sometimes I just watch through the TV so audio quality is still big factor for me....I have the Sony A9G & the audio is outstanding.
you probably want the Sony A95L then.
A QD-MicroLED TV would probably be the holy grail of display tech.
I have an LG CX and find it plenty bright already. Would it still be worth getting the G4 over the C4 since the main difference is brightness? Thanks.
Anyone know the space video used by Jennifer Galantis?
Both of these TV's are priced above what I would pay for the 77" screen size that I would want but it's still nice to see this comparison. I would lean towards the LG personally because of Dolby Vision and DTS passthrough (especially speaking as someone who still supports physical media).
I love my flagship OLED Samsung phones, and I love LG OLEDs for TVs.
I currently own an Lg E6, that is about seven years old. The E series is no longer made. Does anyone have any opinions and if over the last seven years the technology improvements are worth an upgrade to the G4?
