Fun Fact! You know why you always see hunters in pairs?
Because they are brothers! They are one colony split into two hunters and they see each other as brothers. When one dies the other will often go into a enraged state.

the back is the place where the worms that make the hunter go into and exit out of
Small Handgun? The human Magnum fires 12.7mm semi-armor piercing high explosive rounds. the round enters the target then detonates causing massive system shock.

Yeah I believe the assault rifle fires rounds bigger and more powerful than the 7.62x51mm NATO rounds and uses a special recoil system to well... deal with the massive amount of recoil from the rounds fired. Pretty much all the UNSC's weapons are on steroids, they just don't seem like it because you're fighting the elites with advanced armor and shielding or the brutes... and well brutes are just really fucking hard to kill because of biological reasons, High bone density, extreme strength etc. Also they're in a really low gravity situation compared to they're actual planet (I believe the gravity is 2+ G's) So they're basically 2x as strong as they would normally be on they're planet, whenever they're on a human world. Most covie races bodies aren't built like that of a humans, humans are all about endurance however races like the brutes or the elites they're bodies are extremely high maintenance because they're bodies are in a sort of overdrive when compared to human physiology. In a nutshell, they need to eat a 100 pounds of food a day, but they can easily crack open a animals skull with their fist to get that food, especially with the brutes. (Note that isn't an entirely accurate example, but the lore doesn't really say exactly how high of a maintenance their bodies require to function. So I used an overaggarated example to get my point across.)
