Blade 230s. One of the top 5 worst helis I've ever owned. Many other better helis on the market.

Its a great beginner heli but thats it. I glad i sold mine, it was a pos! I even bought a blade fusion 360 3s for $500 new (i know what a dumb ass) it was a pos too. So many things wrong out of the box. And that shitty fbl does some weird shit! Ive heard horror stories about the 6250hx.
When people ask, hey i wanna get a cp heli, i recommend goosky or omp cause parts are cheap and performance is solid.
    Lol "flys like a drunk"
Also the best fbl spectrum ever came out with was the ar7210 beast X. That 6250hxb, its like they took a 16 bit PID drone micro controller, tried to configure for helis; then added spectrum magic, threw it in the oven with other bs and it came out half baked. Thats what it is! The 6250hx is a half baked FBL unit!
Im done with blade helis. The cost of parts and the performance of their helis are lacking. There is so much to tweak and fix out of the box. They make great beginner helis but if u want performance blade is not it.
A tail boom for the gosky s2 is 4$ vs for their new infusion 120, the tail boom 14$

I had good luck with the Blade 230S V2 when I was a beginner 3 years ago. I agree it is a terrible 3D heli. It was a great trainer for me. I used it for all my orientation training. When I bought my second helicopter, an Align 450L I found I was good at correcting for the sloppy uncommanded movements of the 230S. That helped me to become a better 3D pilot now.

It's not the best, but it's a good entry into the hobby. I agree it will help you with learning the basics and then you can move on. I recommend it to new pilots because you can get it with battery, charger and radio. Also because it's super easy to fix. They even sell the full pre-assembled head. The only tricky part is when you kill the servos and need to re-center. But other than that, it has withstood a crash against a steel fence because the blades are made out of plastic. It won't fly as day 1 but will fly with several grades of damage. All you need when you are learning. On mine, I tried my very first inverted hover, which went horribly wrong, pushed Rescue, and saved the heli. I really enjoyed it, was a pretty darn good machine for what it was and the price. I pimped mine up and then ended up selling it. But I do have fond moments with it. I still have an old video of it on my channel that brings back good memories and a smile to my face. All bone stock, without any aftermarket parts will usually fly pretty well with SAFE off after repairs in my experience. Crashes are super cheap and easy to fix. Again, all you need when you are learning the basics. Sure an Oxy 3, an OMP or a Goosky are way better helis on the size, but they are more expensive and require a bit more knowledge to fix. I think Horizon is doing good overall for the hobby at the very low entry level.

I own the 230s and you can see my video of flight and 3d on my page ! This heli is decent and can do some complex tricks but leans more to the beginner side ! For the tag shake ( check that your rx is firmly mounted to the chassis either you tape or 3m better adhesive) fly with my blades medium tight . Meaning u have to apply force to move them they will not fall or move on their own out of position. And the tail gains can be lowered . Be calm and try again the heli is valid

I purchased a brand-new blade 230 S for hundred bucks ready to fly and I'm already regretting it… You have to dismantle it just put a bind plug-in as the receiver is buried it so poorly built poorly designed… ABS rotor blades give me a break …In the CG what's with these designers it's so tail Heavy it's going to be mast bumping working his ass off just To hover. I'm only here because you mentioned it as the top five disgusting machines. I just wanted to say I agree. I did fly at once from the guy that owned it but I guess I'll try to do it I can with it but yeah what garbage

I could not agree more with you! When I started to fly CP helis in March 2021 I read on some heli pages that the Blade 230S V2 would be "the best beginner heli" and I bought it! So I went for it and even hovering with the 230S V2 in 3D mode as a beginner war horribly difficult. Thanks to God only two months later I went for a OMP M2 Explore and I made in a few hours much more progress then with the Blade 230 S V2 in two months... Maybe many years ago the 230S was OK, but these OMP direct drive birds like M1 nad M2 are on a completely different level!!

@@cutefox8319 All these positive commments where the reason why I was buying a Blade 230S V2. I thought all these people cannot be so wrong. Unfortunately the pilots liking the Blade 230S probably don't own "modern" micro helis with direct drive like for instance the M1 and M2. The difference in the performance is so huge, that you cannot compare these models. 8 years ago the Blade was maybe a decent heli. But time went on. These times are looong gone. The Blade has no chance to compete with a modern construction in any field of performance. I have both types, and fly them both.

Though I am a beginner. I bought a blade 230s after recommendations from other youtube vids, saying it was a good learner. Been strugglling with it for months. Then I went and bought a OMP m2. Then I realised what a piece of rubbish this 230s is, now wish I never wasted my money on it. I suppose if I can fly the Blade 230s I can fly anything, as it is all over the place. Tried all the recommended swash levelling etc. But its different every time I change the battery, even though I put the battery in same place. The OMP M2 is rock solid and does what I tell it to do.

I've owned 10-15 blade 230S's and every version as well and I've had nothing but good luck. If your main gear is cracked then thats your wabble issue. Its like any other heli on the market, you have to tune to your abilities and liking. At the end of the day it's a $200 heli. I now run an Ikon2 on all my 230S's now.

      @Rusty-Metal  Před 9 měsíci

Hey there! Why did you end up owning so many of these? It still wobbles with the new main gear. My first 230s years ago was far better. I bet the ikon on that thing really transforms it. There are much better helis than the 230s in this size these days. I used to recommend this to beginners, but never will again.

If your new and your going to crash this heli is good. I went from a nano CPS to this V1 and maybe 2 hours of total sim time at my LHS. The additional constant corrections made me a way better pilot.
Truly bad thing is… you can’t trust the tail. 1st crash my fault (newbie). 2nd crash failed tail motor. 3rd crash tail blowout coming out of a stall turn into backwards flight.
Yours seems to have more power than mine and you don’t even have CF blades on. A bit jealous, well this is now my warm up heli, brain check heli.

Hey there. One huge issue is the tail and that you can't trust it. That's a recipe for disaster for newbies. This is a terrible heli for new and advanced pilots. I had one back in 2017, but used my 180cfx and K110 more as I was learning as they flew better. I've had 47 helis now and can say this is top 5 worst of the bunch.
