I don't know why nobody is talking about Doc Rivers saying that his clippers roster wasn't good enough to win it all. That's clearly the reason why JJ lost all respect for his former coach
because Doc was actually right on that. As bad as a coach as he was doesn't mean he wont right on that. Could they have made it a round or two further with a better coach? probably. but not good enough to win it all.
I think Doc is a decent coach but deserves all the criticism. He’s not great at the X’s and O’s at times. He’s been hidden behind some of the smartest point guards there are, Rondo and CP3. For a Doc team to succeed needs brilliant on court generals to take over when the time comes.
Doc rivers in his first ever conference with the bucks with jon horst right beside him was asked about this advisor to griffin position thing and he straight up denied it and yet every person in the youtube and media space that talks about him mentions that same thing over and over again. And again the guy himself with jon horst right beside him said this.
Why is Doc the only Coach that takes this much criticism. Are we to forget Blake and CP3 were hurt in playoffs. Are we to forget Bens Simmons choke job. Or Embiid and Harden coming up short. They done it for other coaches too. A coach like Dantoni had capable teams with mvp players. What backlash he ever receive
I was mad when doc got the head coaching job bro I am a huge bucks fan and everyone always keeps saying how is doc working out for you and they got rid of Adrian Griffin for what idk rubs me the wrong way like idk man probably one of the best teams on paper the bucks ever had definitely shouldn’t be going like this
A couple years ago their 18 game winning steak was stopped by...a mavs team with no Doncic and Giannis having 50. Last year, I think, they went to OT with a very depleted Celtics team (they pulled out a win, but that's besides the point). They consistently struggle without Giannis...so I don't think River ruined the bucks. I just think they have learned to 'let it fly' too much with Bud, which is great when you're making them...but when you're not you kind of have to adjust. In their championship year Barkley said it best, "They gotta be the dumbest team"

Let’s not act like Doc’s reputation for riding a talented roster to a championship because of his inability to recreate the same success any other time he has had the opportunity despite being extremely close & set up to get it done…! Doc has Coached some legends in his career and has only one Championship to show for it. At some point you have to hold the people making the decisions to hire such a person with so much questionable potential…! Especially when the team was already winning…!!!
