Doc talks about previous teams like he wasn't even a part of them. Lol.
trashing the players like he wasn't the head coach
It’s obvious he really wasn’t lol
This is hilarious bro and wild when you think about 😂😂
Except the 08 Celtics lol
The current teams too
Doc saying the lob city clippers teams never had a chance really showed a lot about the accountability JJ’s talking about. It seems like he always detatches himself from his teams and the results.
Definitely.
They never had a chance lmao Blake griffin as your go to? Buggin 😂

I heard people saying JJ acts “condescending” by acting like he knows way more about basketball than the average fan… but he does. He’s literally a former NBA player and college star. I don’t understand how the average CZcamsr or Twitter/reddit user can get upset that he knows he’s more knowledgeable than them…
he is condescending. and playing in the nba doesn’t mean you know more than some guy in his basement. guess what some people no matter how knowledgeable they are they either don’t have the talent opportunities or both to make it. reading stats and knowing sets and schemes isn’t really that hard if you put in the time. it’s basketball not quantum physics. so yes he should keep all the arrogant garbage to himself and not go on first take (a show all built on drama not knowledge) to scold people and then say he wasn’t whining when he was
He’s definitely condescending but I’m sure he’s that way with everything not just basketball. I think that’s what bothers everyone. I also think his nba career has nothing to do with it because in that sense do you think Kendrick Perkins has better takes than the average nba fan?
Experience and knowledge is different. A doofus can have experience, but knowledge makes a coach
@rmelo2382 moronic comment. Someone that played in the NBA had more credibility than kids talking about basketball on yt
You can be knowledgeable and not condescending 😉
Everybody that came at JJ response was about his career & not what he said about Doc Rivers
Exactly 💯
You hold people you admire accountable just because JJ worked under doc doesn’t mean he can’t hold him accountable for his recent managerial exploits.
The weird thing is, no matter how good a career you might have had people will still discredit you. It's not about the accomplishments at all, it's just about finding anything to point at.
And what’s crazy is that JJ actually had a very good career
Well JJ did play for doc and he is the one making this personal. So personal attacks and criticism are fair game
My main problem is Austin River's comments. He does know there's a difference between having accountability and being held accountable right? If you're going to try to make a point, do it correctly. Pat Bev is gonna Pat Bev regardless lol
Parrot, Parrot, Parakeet!
Yeah, Austin missed the mark on his response. I was thinking the same thing when I saw it.
I want to commend you for the way you phrased this, accountability and being held accountable is a huge distinction that isn’t highlighted enough when discussing Doc
If JJ had some of his best career years with Doc, then that can't be denied either 🤔
@@naklovesjesus3204 Two things can be true at once. It can't be denied. JJ also went to Philly and his stats increased a bit even if his efficiency took a slight dip, so it could be that JJ was just gradually improving. What does that have to do with what was said?
‘No one addressed the substance of what I said’ - great point by JJ. A lack of critical thinking is rampant.
Pat Bev is going to become an analyst once he retires, and I'm dreading every minute of it. He'll say anything and everything but won't stop and use his brain to think first.
Going to be another Perkins

JJ Standing on Business.
a pompous fool being a fool.
What else can he do
@@LKjr13stand in that bish tomorrow as well 😂
He didnt have that energy when Doc was on his pod tho 😴😴
No, JJ is not standing on business at all. This thing has gotten personal, and it's keep running in that direction.
I love JJ's podcast, and I appreciate his attempt to educate the fans the game. And I'll continue to support him and watch his videos. They're very good.
But he needs to get off this drama. It's got personal a long time ago. He was perfectly fine with Doc on his podcast. Things got sour when Doc had an interview somewhere saying that the Lob City Clippers team failed because of the players, once again, taking zero accountability. Then JJ came out with Jamaal Crawford taking a shot at Doc. And ever since, he's been on a crusade to eviscerate Doc at every chance. It's ugly to watch.
If he wants to stand on business, he needs to keep doing what he's doing - educating the fans the game of basketball. He needs to stay away from all this drama, because that's exactly what he criticized about the today's NBA, saying that it's all about the narratives and dramas, which is ironic; JJ is doing the exact thing he criticized - facilitating a drama.
Absolutely correct about ppl reacting to the emotion and not the main question or statement. Good one JJ. Your takes are great bruh.
Side quest: can we just refer to him as Glenn DryBed Rivers...cause nothing is flowing or refreshing w/ him as a coach.
Jj came off extremely emotional in the original comment. Doc has clearly hurt him in the past that he hasn’t let go
That's jj's fault. He needs to get better.
From what I’ve observed, Doc Rivers never takes accountability like JJ said. To add to that, when has Doc Rivers ever said “I had to do a better job preparing the guys,” or “I didn’t make the right adjustments.” It’s always the players fault for whatever reason he chooses it to be.
Or blaming everything on an injured bench player
Doc has said that first quote before. When he was on the Celtics and Clippers.
Not true, I've heard him say that plenty
Hes done it before but yall dont wanna listen lol
@@daniell5740he’s also used other people or other reasons besides himself as a scapegoat for why his teams failed to win a championship but y’all don’t want to listen…
Bomani Jones and Amin El Hassan addressed the clip holistically. GOATS. I appreciate you JJ. NBA discourse needs all three of the aforementioned.
Bomani is underrated fr
Bomani had a really good take that JJ needs to take into consideration.

Not NBA journeyman Pat taking shots at somebody else's position on a team
YEah how dare that guy defend his team froma clown taking ignorant pot shots because of his bias.
@@chriskay1449 Redick wasn't wrong about Rivers though and Beverly didn't even try to argue against his points.
JJ WAS A JOURNEYMAN TOO
@@Luca-yb4sh In terms of the Bucks he was because he showed he hadn't watched a single game all year long. He solely blamed Doc when the real reason is that the players the Bucks have are lazy That has not changed over now 3 coaches that have led games, Griffith, Prunty, and now Doc. The dude hates Milwaukee and he has a personal grudge against Doc. It is a complete clown show when you blame Doc when it is clearly a players issue in the Bucks case.
Pat actually has more NBA accomplishments/awards than JJ Redick. Pat has 1x All-Defensive First team, 2x All-Defensive 2nd team, & 1x NBA Hustle award. JJ actually has ZERO NBA awards. Lol
You're 100% correct on this JJ. I get that Bev wants to defend his HC & wouldn't have said ish if Doc was not his Coach.. but at least come at the substance instead of taking shots at another player's career. That is low but even more so, it is not relevant to the conversation
Pat should just stay out of it altogether. I will never understand the guys who are so busy with what's happening on the outside. Focus on playing the game.
It would be different if a reporter asked him directly in an interview, but damn some of these players live on social media...
As if Pat Bev had a spectacular career, lifetime hachett man, I'll take JJ everyday over Hacthett Bev
Brady hawk is a different level of basketball reporting from anything the national media gives us. Us heat fans are blessed to have it, especially considering the national media doesnt love to spotlight us

Good point from JJ about people not debating what was said, but attacking the person. It happens in politics too. What JJ said about Do Rivers was spot on.

Pat’s response was goofy and unnecessary. Austin did have a point in that his dad was fired from his last two jobs. But JJ is also right in that Doc NEVER takes the blame.
Doc was held accountable by his boss, but never took accountability on the role he played on that losing team
What did he do wrong in Philly? They had the MVP who got hurt in the playoffs.
@@upfulsoul826they ran predictable offense and didn’t make major adjustments to that but to be fair Joel Embiid being healthy could’ve made the difference between 3 and 4 wins that series
It's more like Doc engages in a bit of revisionist history after the fact. We obviously can't argue the fact that he got fired and say that's how he was kept accountable. But JJ's stance is essentially that Doc will do interviews and blame the players.
If you take accountabillity you would resign not wait till you get fired so doc never take any blame he is the worst coach i ever seen reason he got to much talent n waste them one chip for
JJ, don’t back down now. Everything you said on First Take was 100% on point and needed to be said. I guarantee you the majority of us diehard NBA fans were thinking (and have always thought) the exact same thing; you just had the guts to say it on national TV. You deserve applause for it! In the words of Perk, carry the hell on.

ESPN is loving these JJ clips.l and the engagement. What you say, hits every other ESPN show, all of social media and CZcams. Keep em coming and keep being honest!
Appreciate you giving Brady Hawk some ❤️ he cover the Miami Heat better than national media
Shoutout to Brady hawk. Great content and breakdowns
3:44 - 4:05 was SO WELL SAID. I'd take it a step further and mention how easily people are offended by opposing viewpoints. People don't really want discourse and they definitely don't want a conversation with someone who appears to be without an agenda or narrative to spin. It's a cycle of selective outrage nowadays and sports "talk" has felt dead for years.
All that can be applied to Perk. He right away attacked JJ and started tweeting he has a personal problem with doc instead of focusing on the subject.
Good on you for talking your piece JJ.
I hardly ever disagree with JJs but one thing I have noticed is the extra energy he has on First Take which I do find just a tiny bit performative
JJ, you are 100% on point. Loved you as a player, love you even more now. Your delivery, poise, knowledge, and fantastic vocabulary is inspiring. Please keep it up. Don’t let this negative energy get you down.
JJ keeping it real, I think there are a lot people that want to know more about the sport and less about the "who's the goat" conversations
Same exact situation with Cam Newton, he had a take about various QB's in today's game and not a single one of these "analysts" actually talked about Cam's take and took personal shots at him and his career.
Dam I just commented something similar but yup this is fax

There is nothing in common between JJ and CN. CN is literally crazy.

@Wolverinebj3 Calling Tom Brady a game manager was not an insult. He specifically compared the style of play between QB's like a Brady and a Mahomes.
Good talk brotha. Very correct. People don't engage in dialog, they only react to sound bites for thumbnails
i just want to be educated by a guy like jj to use knowledge when i argue against a guy like stephen a.

You made/make great takes JJ! The haters need to focus on doing the same!
we love brady ! as a heat fan we are bless to have a guy like brady. i always love learning more from you or brady or a pro player
Damn JJ hit the nail on the head with this one. Everybody gets so emotional about something being said that they completely disregard the substance of what was actually said and just attack the person saying it. Prime example, Cam Newton not too long ago
People that kept saying JJ is right. If hes a good analyst and fair commentator then he would also state bucks issues while doc took over. He never mentioned anything about dame and khris being injured. He didnt mentioned bucks improved defense while the team is going through tough road stretches while having their starters injured or away. He didnt mentioned the bucks missed makeable and open shots. If fans just listen to JJ podcast and look at docs record then yes people really think wow JJ is spitting facts but lol watch the games, understand the situation then you would know things JJ said is just biased and half true facts
Nice for JJ to give Brady Hawk a shout out, I follow him and he knows his stuff and I'm also a heat fan
3:50 this literally happened when Cam Newton gave his game manager take, different sport but this reminded me so much of that same situation

one thing i notice about jj on his podcast his calm as soon as he goes on first take guy starts shouting like jj we can hear you regardless 😂
Great point JJ. People never want to address substance of your take, they get in their feelings and feel they have to protect their boys. Let’s talk about how they feel you were wrong or right, and then present the facts to back it up.
Bro your to real for them JJ… Love the way that you are and always keeping it real & speaking your mind keep doing your thing bro I’m a big fan 🙌🏾🤞🏾✅

JJ, you do a good job of straddling both worlds. At minimum, it's cathartic for me when you do it on First Take (because i agree). Also you and Richard Jefferson had great chemistry calling games. Good luck with Doris and Breen!
People enjoyed and stood with Jj because he stood on business when it came to media attacking the players/brotherhood. He protected players with his voice. I believe Bev and Rivers were criticizing him for attacking Doc (the Brotherhood) in the media. The sudden switch was concerning to them.
CZcams plaque in the background is hard. Kudos

While we're on the subject of educating the fans, could you buy a coach's clipboard to draw up plays for when you mention them?
Great stuff JJ. I feel like we’d be good friends if I knew you in real life. CZcams and social media are weird in that they allow you to get to know someone sort of intimately, and as a human with their vulnerabilities, without ever meeting them. At least, your openness and authenticity allows a pretty good glimpse, and I respect you for the courage and humility I see.

JJ Redick has been the best basketball commentator for ESPN, and one of the best on TV and online, since the moment he started. A true breath of fresh air. Not since Tim Legler has an analyst clearly loved and cared and basketball so much.

JJ as someone who is interested in play by play breakdown. Are you breaking them down on this channel or a separate channel
@JJ Redick can you give me a good 76ers analyst? I've been trying to find one for a while
JJ - you’re the best source of real NBA insight that there is. It is sad that people can’t listen to an opinion they may disagree with and reply with a different point of view. The fact that many people start with outrage and then start to personally attack the person they disagree with just demonstrates how immature and mindless they really are. When did we start living in a world where there is only one acceptable opinion on every subject? Keep doing what you do, JJ. Ignore the noise. Thank you.
Please do an episode with Ben Taylor from Thinking Basketball, your channels are my absolute favorites for real basketball insight.
This is one of the best, if not the best podcast out there for basketball. The problem with most people today is that they don't want to hear "your" truth. They only want to hear "their" truth. So if what you're saying does not align with "their" truth, it's a problem. It's simple - Don't Listen. Go somewhere else. But don't berate someone for speaking their truth.
Your interview clip with Jamal Crawford explains it all
Love the Ben Taylor shoutout
I wanted to see him address Austin’s comments
You are definitely one of my favorites. 🙌🏾
Lebatard brought me back to you being the most hated man in College basketball. Being from North Carolina it was surreal. You outsmarting and outclassing all of these media guys are beautiful. Congrats on all your continued success.
I loved every minute and that type of delivery is what will get peoples attention. I think it was a delivery because it did sound personal on a negative perspective but that's the emotions that people want to be involved around sports especially when they have been watching for decades like myself. At the end all of you guys will win because then you're the retired players who will receiving the revenue because now you are the media. I actually like it because I'm familiar with cheering for someone you guys and boo in the hell out of you guys especially Duke. Yeah Duke me but it still was so much fun
It was the delivery… You were VERY Animated
On the educating fans Zion thing, if you could put some kind of indicator where that be the title or picture that says it’s a film break down or more in depth. I listen/watch a bunch of your stuff but don’t catch it all. As much as I like the rest of what y’all do, I’d go outta my way for that sorta breakdown. So if it’s more obvious that’s what it is compared to discussion, interview and recaps I’d watch more of them.
We stand with you JJ. You were spot on 🎯
You said what everyone was thinking, nothing to feel bad about.
Two things about people attacking the person and not the point. 1) Sometimes people attack the person because the messenger is important to a message as much as we dont want to admit it. Stephen A Smith saying something does not hit the same as another analyst, even if what is said is true by the other analyst. 2) Other times, it's just that there is no way to refute or prove what was said and so the only thing left to do is attack the person or some other peripheral aspect. JJ saying Doc doesnt take responsibility is purely his opinion. It's not based on anything or wasnt presented to be based on anything and it felt (now confirmed) was personal. So Pat Bev came along with his own opinion which was also obviously personal. JJ made an emotional take and got an emotional answer.
The irony jj saying this but talked about in the same manner 🤧
You spoke the truth that many afraid to speak

JJ Redick had a stellar career and he was eventually hampered by injuries---check the record. The beauty of listening to professionals that have expertise is it provides better insight and nuanced information. For many of us who studied and worked hard at our chosen profession, would be insulted if someone walked into your office/practice/etc. and said they could do your job better and offer advice because they read a book about the field that you're in. BTW, being fired from a coaching position to then have another one right before you're let go does not equate to accountability--JJ is not the only former player that has been vocal about Doc's lack of accountability--there are many former players that echo JJ's sentiment.
3:19 JJ unintentionally mocking Doc with the Doc Rivers voice 😭😭😭
3:33, That is a logical, thoughtful, and factual statement JJ. But remember..., and I had to learn this the hard way too, LIFE is not logical💯
He should’ve responded directly with more detail ex: Austin not knowing the difference between taking responsibility and being held accountable by someone else. Austin claiming to not feel the need to defend his dad but consistently taking shots as well with his back handed compliments.
What's the jacket/cardigan thing JJ is wearing? I'd like something like that.
Tommy’s sweatshirt goes hard af
That's very very true about what JJ is saying about people attacking the person and never attacking what was said..... That's a really annoying problem because the people involved in the discussion or disagreement, never get to answer to the true topic/subject at hand....
As a Bucks fan, I think you are tight about Doc. Maybe people like me, who agree with the substance, are too quiet. I love your honest statements.
