Having been an actor on television, film and stage for almost 30 years, Alec Baldwin is one of the most well-known figures in the industry. His role as Jack Donaghy in sitcom 30 Rock saw him become the male performer with the most Screen Actors' Guild Awards. He has received worldwide attention for his portrayal of Donald Trump in Saturday Night Live, and is currently filming his role in the latest Mission: Impossible film.
ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
He’s incredibly focused when speaking. He really transports himself back to the moment he is remembering when he retells his memories. He is very upset by sounds/distractions that disturb his recollection. Brilliant man but very stubbornly caught in his own world.
Alec Baldwin very articulate well versed American actor. Well done interview.
I agree. Treat & pleasure. His brother Billy is also a delight. What an impressive family
He seems very inteligent, has a very good memory and has a strong point of view
Brilliant man and a great actor. Watch Glengarry Glenross.
Hear hear..
Awsome film, I thought Jack Lemmon was fabulous in it, as was everyone else
"Hollywood was a small, incestuous community" ~ A. Baldwin
He's an eloquent man, clearly very well read and thoughtful. Just occurred to me that he's the polar opposite of Trump in that respect.
As we're finding out now, he's opposite to President Trump in another way. Melania doesn't lie about her heritage or fake an accent.
Trump never shot anyone! So ya
What a wonderful interview!! Alec Baldwin sounds like a thoughtful, honest and straightforward guy. :-)
One of the best interviews I’ve seen with an actor, purely because Baldwin knows how to field terrible questions. “What’s your favourite role” is something a ten-year-old would ask. Questions aside, very entertaining.
Very good point that Alec made her, about wanting to act, then wanting to be famous!!.
Good comparison, great guy and very down to earth and mature.
The interviewer seemed stilted and obtuse. He just said he arrived from taking his daughter to the hospital, yet the interviewer goes straight to her notes about his brothers' acting careers.
ncooty she’s not a professional interviewer she’s an Oxford student ! Clue is in the title
I registered that, too; a little courtesy would've been to ask after her, as Q1.
Such an interesting , intelligent and articulate fellow . I could listen to him all day
An intelligent fellow who shot someone without checking the gun
I love all these youtube interviews with Alec. Just the company of a smart, classy guy.
hahahaaaahhaaa.
you really think he is classy.
Creep
Maybe SNL will have Trump on to do a cheeky impression of Alec Baldwin killing a woman.
Too soon
That’s not funny… a woman died…
The. Man. Can. Talk.
legend in his own mind.
Wonderful.
The amazing thing about Alec is that he puts the common good above (and beyond !!) the self ! He's just such a trustworthy (and believable) person ... I admire and respect him for his insight, and ethical beliefs. In such a darned age when morals and social values are battered and viciously neglected and scuffed at, he's the glimpse of light at the end of the long, dark tunnel. And I believe he's wrong about political awareness of actors: there you have, Merryl Streep and his good-old self ! Loved to have watched this. Thanks.
very interesting man........i always liked Alec as an actor but now even more so..........he is is also one of the luckiest men on earth to be once married to the gorgeous Kim Basinger!
Who wouldn’t like Alec? Love anything he does.
Alec is a great man, thanks

Politics aside, this was an excellent interview. It's obvious that Mr. Baldwin felt more comfortable and was more candid addressing a non-American audience. As a Canadian, I'm concerned about a Trump-led United States and it was nice to hear that most Americans are too.
@Concerned4 USA -- Get a grip, lunatic.
Stephen McDonald -- Alec is like this in most consequential interviews. I attended one of his at the NY Public Library in Bryant Park. He was just was open and insightful.
I actually want to hate Alec Baldwin ( he is brudish , arogent and in some cases abusive) but I simply can't. He is extremely intelligent and I wish he would offer his talents and intellect to the highest office in our country.
He's right, and this has completely corrected my perception.
Hard to get better than AB
One of the great Americans
Is that a Fred Perry polo shirt he’s wearing
Love Alec Baldwin....
The people asking the questions in these just sit waiting to read the next question. They should just put them on a prompter and let him speak, she's completely superfluous.
Exactly. And the questions are completely asinine. This is Oxford... they don't have ANY students who can come up with more interesting questions, or who are able to hold an actual articulate conversation? Especially considering the calibre of guests they attract?
Amazing guy. Old school class.
@59:07 - The Deutsche Mark? What year was this interview taped?
Baldwin actually speaks very well when he isnt in crazy mode, lol.
Happy birthday
The awkward water pour.
I lost count of the host, starting with, "So" :( It's SO depressing!
HOSTESS....ahem lol

wonderful chat
Who is the interviewer? She's fit as
Yeah second most beautiful Woman in the world.
@@harrypaul2718 I need a name mate not something stated that's already obvious
One last comment about how he handled the slippery questions on Woody Allen and Kevin Spacey... PERFECT. By the way, my heart goes out to Kevin Spacey (don't know what he does during the weekends !), but HE IS also a very socially conscious person, and has been very supportive of the suffering that Venezuelans have been subjected to, SINCE THE BEGINNING, even when Chavez was blubbering and puffing his way around, (early 2000's), and SPOKE OUT against him. Not like the infamous Glover or Sean Penn, who went courting the tyrant. Big PLUS for Kevin there.
"Don't know what he does during the weekends !"

HIs comments on spousal abuse are spot on. No matter what they seem to always arrest the man no matter what. Even, as had happened in my family, even when it was the man that called to police reporting the abuse and attempt to stab him by his wife!
Our toxic culture now really is quite sickening. People are often hung before they even get a trial.
Beetlejuice X3 I dare not say it
Dare.
I'd vote for Alec for president before I'd vote for Oprah.
I grew up watching him and I love his style and acting techniques. Malice is one of his best performances

Shocking he narritated thomas and friends
What so he didn't get triggered like he usually does? 😏
Do they have Mel Gibson as their guest?
Good on Alec for standing up for Woody. Mia Farrow is a toxic person who went on a smear campaign after Allen married their adopted daughter (weird) but still not pedophilia by my estimations
Droning on about his attitude on the questions, who's interested, very abusive, loud individual sadly
Great actor but likes his own voice and who's interested in his offsprings health why he's late
Bore, bore bore
Does he not know the euro exists??
squandering is right
Okay people he’s an actor. An Actors craft are Words. Don’t get so excited which is American public’s issue #1 = celebrity worship! Is he good at reciting back “other “ people’s words given to him, yes. Is he somewhat attractive, yes. But at the end of the day, he’s in a profession where people continuously make themselves up and are made up, and where ALL take themselves way too seriously. And recall have a 100-person entourage all devoted to making them look good. Way too verbose and suspect the “ actor” Alec is probably not all too much like the “ real” one, if there even is a real one. or why all the law suits - just saying.
Better still have some of that gold dust.
That hot Spaniard wife of yours; is knocked up again, Alec?!
bru,I hope you got a good pre-nup, dude.
This guy I was connected too to promote him, but I have to promote myself but I like his ideals their are similar, is the foundation of America there? To support our progressive ideals in the Goobers world non denominational or ethnic background.
I will say that though the interviewer only chose people of her own colour to ask questions.
Positive discrimination no more no less..
@@paulmccarthy7512 really? I had been lead down the rabbit hole about him, thru the press and this interview, turned my entire thinking about him around. But I would have liked so of his country men or women to ask some questions. Just saying.
@@paulmccarthy7512 surely not
We've swept so much under the rug.....? We've faltered? but we just had 8 years of Obama ...?
if is what I meant to say. It’s got to be free & free it is if you say it is & you act in that stage of freedom.
trumps wife ain't so lovely, though.

Alec Baldwin? At Oxford? Pfft. Let them invite someone like Mark Levin. Now, _that_ I would watch. :o
I wish I never watched this. When he started to go into his politics and beliefs in it, my heart sank. A good actor though. but still.
you can't deny that alec is a cool dude, but at times i think he is a bit arrogant. he hammered trump pretty badly.
dorky

I'm surprised at the callowness and superficiality of the questions. It's Oxford for Chrissake.
And you.
this is Oxford Union yes ? oh i thought it was a lets talk about my boring acting jobs .... intelligence is a very rare thing today , very sad .
To be completely honest prior to watching this I thought I had a pretty strong dislike for Alec..I was incorrect, yup I was wrong I'm sure I hate him now.

land of the free & brave it’s it isn’t free it isn’t going to be brave. That’s a huge liability to the survival of the foundation of America.
See our names just above we need your affirmations of free& safe were in political asylum to escape from att acks.
Hey Alec, if you've got 4 kids (and counting) with just one of your wives you can probably skip manspaning to me about the environment.
What’s wrong with having four kids with your wife? Wth?
Disappointingly ill-informed and conservative on gender issues. A product of his time. He doesn't get it.
He had Caitlyn Jenner at his roast
@@ChrisMisc1 Sorry I didn't mean gender fluidity or trans issues. I should've specified that I meant gender politics, Me2 etc
I think it is important that men contribute to the conversation about gender issues, for example #metoo, as an opportunity for them to learn. But men need to understand that they have no relevance in terms of authority of experience and truth of women. Alec Baldwin does not understand this at all. It also seems he has no understanding of the complexities of incest, the horror, shame, disbelief, denial involved. Most people do not tell. I cannot imagine the courage it takes to be from a famous family and, in the face of your siblings' disbelief and the disdain of the fans of the abuser, hold to your truth, year after year. Hopefully, he will learn.

He should thank President Trump for his new found fame..
