- Yesterday I field tested the Fujinon 90mm F8 with Deta 100 on the Chamonix 4x5 Camera (RED HOYA FILTER). I will be honest and say that the compositions were a tad dull but the resolution and depth of field at F32 was stunning ! I was also amazed by the quality of Delta 100 developed in 510 Pyro
The problem is , the field camera is a people magnet and I was constantly approached by attractive women wanting to know what I was up to with this weird camera ! I had a couple of ladies under the dark cloth looking at the ground glass ! It must have taken 30 mins to get the first shot with the constant distractions and people and dogs photobombing the image .
Development
510 Pyro 1.100 dilution
10 mins
Constant agitation for first minute then 10 seconds per minute there after , water stop bath then Alkaline fix1.10 for 6 mins , Ilford rinse then 5 min soak in distilled water

Really enjoy your channel. Please don't fall into what so many other film channels fall into. Gear reviews and film reviews. Just digging watching you get out and take pictures. Seeing how you choose to frame, etc. Thank you
Thanks , these kind words go a long way
@@AustenGoldsmithPhotography I couldn't agree more. For as long as I've been shooting LF, I still enjoy seeing all of the decisions and processes that others do. Thanks for sharing these!
I love Cornwall in the winter. Such a dynamic landscape that gets hidden by people in the summer. Then you get the cloudscape. It's been good seeing you put more of that in your comps.
And you get to see my dog take a dump ! That's hard to equal
Tbh I can find space from people all year round but it involves a boat !
@@AustenGoldsmithPhotography 10 stop filter and the dog is gone. Could have been anybodies!
I too have the Fujinon 90mm f8, the SW version, if I recall. It was only the second lens that I bought, when I realized that I need a wider angle lens for architecture. It really is a gem, and I'm glad that it is working so well for you. Agreed, the compositions aren't quite up to your usual excellence, but still quite enjoyable to look at--I'll admit that I rather liked the last one with the boat anchor chain leading in. Well done!
Unfortunately I dropped that lens on concrete and broke it , I wanted a bit more light so ended up with the nikkor 90 4.5
Austin I really enjoy your videos. I have been getting into 4x5 over the past few years. I live in SW Florida and own an intrepid 4x5. Hoping to share some shots taken with you soon.
Thanks
Look forward to seeing some pix !
I have the Fuji 90mm as well. It is a fantastic lens!
Yea and it wasnt expensive!
The awesome resolution of a well set up 4X5 negative for all to see. Those people shaking hands says it all. I have a negative of the now demolished Agecroft power station in Salford, Manchester ( they built a prison on its grounds later, how apt ). It was shot in the early 80s on FP4, with a 300mm F9 Rodenstcok Geronar( 3 element lens ) and a ToyoView Monorail. it shows the cooling towers and the adjacent houses, and football fields where people were palying Sunday football. These are nothing but specks on the negative, yet scanned at only 1600 PPI, one can almost see the shape of the faces and distinguish different haircuts and facial features. And they sold us digital, and we bought it.
I shot 45 at night this week ( made a video ) the resolution is quite breathtaking for hp5 800 ! Wait n see !
Nice video just too short! Appreciated that low angle image.
Thanks again ! I hear ya ! I myself am an impatient CZcams viewer , when I watch a lot of ". Vloggers " I fast forward to the bits where they share information and show images , like Thomas Heaton , love him but I'm not interested in what he has for breakfast !
As my self confidence grows hopefully my videos will get longer
Thanks for the encouragement!
Maybe I should get my 8x10 out more often and get young attractive women approach me too 👀
You might need a 16x20 !
I tell you this true story. Last year, I took my MPP MKVII out for a ' local ' walk around the Dunham Massey village in Cheshire. I live about 5 or 6 miles away from it. I came across a beautiful scene with the perfect lighting . Clouds, fields and all that. I only had two sheets left. As I hurriedly set up the camera, two very attractive and posh ladies on horseback stopped by the side of the road and started to comment on the camera and what I was doing. As I was trying to be polite and answer their question, I released the shutter and made the exposure. I was so engaged with them that I just went on and pulled the film holder out. I thought there something didn't feel right. When I looked, I still had the darkslide in my left hand. To cover my embarrassment I said nothing, put the darkslide back, turned the holder around and took the shot with my last sheet. Later I just laughed at myself. I was like a kid in a candy shop, even though I am 65 years old now.
@@lensman5762 Its all pretty easy but its amazing how after all that setting up we can make simple errors at the critical moment
Im absolutely over the moon with this weeks video and pix I've just done , but one sheet has a cable release in the centre of the image !
@@AustenGoldsmithPhotography That has happened a few times to me, and the odd finger in the middle of the image.
@@lensman5762 I reckon Ansel Adams probably had a few negs with cable releases through them !
